Lady Boss, Please Spoil Your Husband! Chapter 337

Under this dense silence, the tick and tock sound of the wall clock did nothing to soothe the couple's nerves. They sat there, not retracting from their embrace, waiting uneasily for their doctor friend to return.
Knock knock
Doctor Song Zhihao nearly jumped in fright when two pairs of gleaming eyes stared intently at him as if he had wronged them.
"So-sorry for the wait..." He rubbed the back of his neck in a sheepish manner. "There were a lot of patients today who came in with similar cases to yours. Looks like this month, we have a lot of expectants."
Doctor Song naively didn't realized how his statement didn't settled well in the couple's minds.
"The result?" Ethan demanded.
"Here it is, geez. Calm down, will you? Miss Bai is fine." Doctor Song cleared his throat and opened his clipboard. "So, I'm not certain if this is good news or not but, what we saw from Miss Bai's blood sample is..."
"Stop with the suspense already," Ethan glared at his friend who'll soon be pummeled into pulp if he doesn't stop being ridiculous.
He can literally hear the loudness of his heartbeat from his ears with all of this anticipation.
"Well, as I have already guessed since the beginning," Doctor Song ignored the killing intent directed at him. "Miss Bai has iron-deficiency. But nothing to worry, it can easily treated with the prescribed diet and supplements."
Lillie's grip on Ethan's hand tightened unconsciously.
"I'm afraid that's it. You're not pregnant, Miss Bai..." Doctor Song solemnly disclosed. He witnessed two faces crumbled in mixed disappointment and relief.
With various reasons of her not being pregnant, Lillie had expected the content of the result, and yet, it still felt nerve-wracking when fate seem to love surprising her sometimes.

Indeed. Truth to be told, Lillie and Ethan were slightly disappointed. But that disappointment soon changed into determination.
For their baby to have a safe environment once they're born, they'll need to start cleaning up the messes around.
"Thank you, Doctor."

Waving goodbye at his good friends, Song Zhihao walked back to his office. When he plopped on the sofa and felt the softness of it, he let out a tired yet content sigh.
"What a tiring day...I need a drink, later." He muttered to himself as be stared at the boring, white ceiling.
An obnoxious yawn left his mouth, his eyes feeling heavy and were ready to shut close when a thought surfaced his mind.
He was thinking about Lillie's blood test result. When Ethan described her symptoms and answered the questions regarding their...activities...he really thought Lillie was pregnant.
Although she claimed to have taken contraceptives without fail, there's still chances for her to get pregnant—especially after they confessed that there were several times his good friend forgot to wear protection; must've been in the heat of the moment.
Something doesn't settle well in Song Zhihao's mind. He really thought it was weird.
Yes, Lillie Bai did show signs of having iron-deficiency, but it might've been due to pregnancy.
Should he give it a test again? Albeit it's rare, there's a possibility for the result to be inaccurate or wrong.
He even triple checked it earlier, that's why it took him so long to return with the result to those two.
Ridding his indecision, he begrudgingly forced himself up and strode towards the laboratory.
His footsteps echoed through the silent halls. As he was about to turn a corner, someone bumped onto his shoulder.
"Sorry—" He said, but the person just walked pass and ignored him as if nothing happened. "Rude." He grumbled, glaring at the unknown person walking in a moderately fast pace towards the elevator.

"Weird too." He fixed his gaze on the person, who he described to be a man, according to his height and physique.
Also, what's he doing here? This floor is for the laboratories...
"Hey, you, wait a minute!" He loudly called the man in white t-shirt. "Stop! What are you doing here?"
But the man continued walking.
"I said stop, d*mn it." His feet sprinted forward when the suspicious man suddenly ran away as he was approaching him.
Now he knows there's something else going on.
Don't underestimate me, buddy. I'm not your ordinary doctor!

Force Majeure: A web novel
In the Qursan Empire, the grey walls of the city press down on its subjects. It is a highly divided society which is based on the magical strength of its citizens. While the most powerful are trained as Mages, the majority of citizens use their limited skills with essence to power the city in their assigned jobs. Jano is pretty much the lowest of the low in the Qursan Empire. A Class Ten citizen forced into transitory work after having his power restricted. When he gets the opportunity to change all of that, he takes it with both hands. Please note this is an edited version of my story ‘city of captives’. It follows a similar structure but I’ve ironed out some of the kinks. If you read that version, much of this will be similar though there are some differences. This is a slow burning progression fantasy. Please expect at least two chapters per week. I love writing this story but I do have unfortunate things to deal with like work and life outside of writing. I may be able to write and edit more than that, but it will never be less! If you enjoy this, consider following me on Instagram by just searching Crow J Williams.
