Lady Boss, Please Spoil Your Husband! Chapter 271

Andrea fidgeted nervously from her seat at the quaint coffee shop in the building's lobby. CEO Bai made her sit there while she goes to order coffee for the two of them.
This day seemed to get better and better for her. Simply being in the same building as Lillie was already enough. But being treated coffee? It's equivalent to discovering treasure island!
"Here you go, Miss Houston." Lillie gave the steaming hot cup of coffee to the antsy woman.
"Thank you, CEO Bai..." Andrea prayed that her trembling hands wouldn't betray her and spill the precious, hot beverage on Lillie's hand. "A-and please, call me Andrea. There's no need to be so formal with me."
"As you wish, Andrea."
Andrea wanted let out a loud, fangirl scream.
Lillie sat on the chair across with a poise that anyone would describe as elegant, imposing, and aloof. Her long legs crossed, elbows propped on the armrest with the cup of coffee on one hand that hovered in front of her pink lips. The steam exuding from the hot beverage loomed around her delicate face, giving her a misty visual.
Andrea wasn't sure what to do at this rate. The awkward silence was too thick and suffocating, but it seems it was only her who sees it that way
"I'm glad I wasn't too late in hiring you, Andrea. Your sister talks about you all the time when we meet." Lillie raised her eyes when she heard a sputter followed by a fit of coughing.
Andrea coughed the liquid that accidentally entered her windpipe and rushed to wipe her lips with a handkerchief. "A-all good things, I hope?" She swear, if her elder sister said something embarrassing about her, she'll do the same thing in tenfold!

"Rest assured. Jessica simply told me how determined and dedicated you are in working here," Lillie said with a hint of amusement in her voice. "She speaks highly of you."
Andrea's cheeks flared up in embarrassment, red as a ripe tomato.
Lillie continue talking to her in a cool yet calm demeanor. Andrea felt the tense air she was feeling subside.
She felt the atmosphere turn comfortable and soon, she find herself engaging into a relaxing conversation with Lillie. It was like how she used to talk with her back then when she knew her as Theodora.
Considering she was the Student Council President before, it's not unusual for the students to talk to her. Andrea was one of the brave students who would greet and exchange a few words with Lillie. However, she didn't count herself as an acquaintance.
Andrea couldn't stop the fond smile appear on her face. She thought to herself, "She's still the same as before. There's no need to be nervous around her."
Taking a gentle sip of her coffee, Andrea's eyes drifted around the bright and extravagant lobby until it landed on the medium sized box and another cup of coffee on the table.
She noticed them just now. That box must be for Lillie to take home. As for the other cup...did the CEO drank two coffee? No, she would've noticed it if she did. Besides, she could still see the steam coming out from the lid. Meaning that it was full and untouched.
"Thank you for joining me, Andrea. But I'm afraid I need to cut our conversation short." When Lillie shot up from her seat, Andrea instantly followed and was about to bid her goodbye.
"Here," Andrea was slow to realize that the box and the cup she was eyeing before now landed on her palms.
"The coffee is for Elliot, and the cheesecake is for you two to enjoy."
Andrea was speechless. When she was finally snapped out of her stupor, Lillie was already walking away from her.
"I'll leave him to your care, good luck." She waved her hand before pacing out from her view.
Andrea was left there, gaping like a fish.
Lillie's words echoed in her mind.
...cheesecake...for you two...enjoy...
Best. Boss. Ever.

There is only one problem: she may be losing control of her abilities. Sixteen years after a global pandemic devastated the earth’s population, the lines in the old United States have been drawn between the Cheyenne Directorate in Colorado and the New England Alliance on the East Coast. The Directorate, of which Alexandra is a part, is a small but powerful organization dedicated to returning the country to its former glory. However, when a diplomatic mission to the New England Alliance goes wrong, Alexandra finds herself at the center of a bloody civil war. Battles are fought on the old highways and in dilapidated towns and once-great cities. And as the conflict escalates, all of North America faces the threat of being burnt away by nuclear fire. Against this backdrop of war, Alexandra tries to uncover the long-hidden secrets behind the plague, her abilities, and the two men fighting to decide the fate of the United States - Henry Bedford, Alexandra's father and leader of the Directorate, and John Martin, the mysterious figure at the heart of the New England Alliance who may hold the key to everything she seeks. None of this will matter, however, unless Alexandra can prevent the power growing inside her from taking over and consuming the very world she is fighting to save. Author's Notes: I appreciate you taking a look at my novel, The Girl from the Mountain. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, military thrillers, and/or cosmic horror, I think you'll enjoy this story. I completed the novel's first draft back in 2011 and made significant changes in 2016. Since then, I've more-or-less sat on the manuscript while working on other projects. Thanks to a bit of prodding, I've decided to send this story out into the wild with some touch-ups and additional revisions. I welcome any comments or criticisms, and I hope you enjoy The Girl from the Mountain!
