The whole fiasco was still fresh on their minds after the guests left the Ping mansion. They began to pray to the gods and deities for salvation and for Lillie not to obliterate them.

They wouldn't dare spread Lillie Bai's presence at Elder Ping's birthday party, it would cause them their lives. People would find out about how they've failed to recognize her and how they've insulted her greatly ​​

Ping Zhi, who used to be full of life, the social butterfly of the Elite Society, was downcast and quiet.

"Xiao Yue was a great child. She was just influenced by her father and the people surrounding her. The mistakes she've caused, we let it slide as we thought she was just too young and naive to know." Ping Zhi softly said.

"However, her actions today are truly unforgivable. As her mother, I ask for forgiveness in her stead and for failing to guide her on the right path." Tears streamed down her eyes at the pain of being a failure of a mother.

She was already depress of loosing her husband because she thought she was not good enough. Now, it felt like she've lost her daughter too.

She thought this party would liven her up a little, guess it was just a naive dream.

Lillie's eyes soften. She really pitied Ping Zhi. Her husband almost caused the downfall of her family, her daughter made things difficult to the person who've saved them from being implicated of Zhang Guan's actions.

"Don't blame yourself, Madam Ping. I'm sure your daughter would reflect on her actions and change for good. I can see how much she cares for her family. It's just that, her emotions got the best of her." Lillie offered her handkerchief to Ping Zhi.

Ping Zhi accepted the fabric, finally relieved that Lillie didn't hold a grudge against them. It's true that rumors aren't really a reliable source for information. It should not be trusted.

"Thank you, miss Bai." Ping Zhi gave her a weak smile.

The Bai and Li went to their respective vehicles and went home.

Gabriel and Yi Fei were mournful because they didn't get to spend time with Lillie before she was swept off her feet by Ethan.

While driving the car to Tranquil Villa, Ethan shivered. His guts told him something bad will happen in the near future.

"Are you feeling cold?" Ethan asked in concern. Lillie's dress was sleeveless, showing her white shoulders.

Ethan had a hard time containing his boiling desire. She's just right there, sitting on the passenger seat, yet, why did it seems like she's so far away?

"I'm a little cold." Lillie honestly said. Ethan parked the car on the of the road and quickly removed his coat before wrapping it around her.

As he did so, he stealthily touches her skin, and oh boy she's cold!

Lillie was warmed up because of the coat. Her head rest on the window, her eyes fluttered shut but not asleep.

"Ethan."

Ethan hummed in response. This will be the fourth time she called his name and it causes his heart to jump every time.

He just love hearing her call his name.

"Do you think...I'm a horrible person?"

"Yes." No hesitation. You sure have guts, Ethan Li.

Lillie was quiet before she chuckled. Ethan felt like there were horses running on his chest.

Hearing her laugh—is his new favorite thing.

Her laugh was not fake or evil, it was soft and normal.

"So straight forward, aren't you?" A soft yet distant smile crept on her lips.

It was unfortunate that he's driving but, he can still see her from his peripheral vision.

"Although, you're right...I am a horrible person."

In her mind, Lillie did not deny that she's not a good person, she's far from it. People had betrayed her countless times and she always forgives.

But, they did not learn how to be grateful of her benevolence. On the contrary, they took it for granted until she've reached her bottomline.

Take Yu Mei for an example. She's still alive but, everyday she'll shout for death. She wish for her suffering to end.
