Lady Boss, Please Spoil Your Husband! Chapter 14

The male Bais were reluctant to leave their precious flower with that 'beast' but they were pulled out by the ears by their wives saying 'She's already 26' 'She can take care of herself' and the likes.
Lillie was feeling helpless at this situation, she doesn't know what to do. Living in one roof with Ethan, with her enemy and rival.
All she can do right now is sigh, she's been sighing a lot lately. She's currently sitting on a sofa at the living room and across her is Ethan with a calm expression.
If one had extremely sharp eyes, unfortunately Lillie's too busy to notice, you can clearly see the joy glinting on Ethan. He's extremely happy, for the second time. The first is meeting her and when she talked to him.
"Would you like to talk about the living arrangements?" He volunteered to be the first one to talk.
Snapping out her thoughts, she stared directly in him. "As I've already mentioned, we will have our own separate bedrooms. I believe you already agreed to this." She emphasized.
"Your wish is my command." Even though he was unwilling, he agreed just to ease 'some' of her wearies.
"Also, I forbid you to enter my room and make any unnecessary, physical contact with me, like what you did last time. Do that again and I'll swear I will have you on bars."
"Yes, ma'am." Ethan chuckled, this woman is using such formal words instead of using the direct word, couldn't she be any more cuter?
"I hope that you'll keep your words 'this time'. We can, as much as possible, be considered 'acquaintance' at this stage and try to get to know each other better. After all, this marriage is inevitable." This time, Ethan was surprised that Lillie had the audacity to make this proposition.

She's right, their marriage is final and inevitable, the least they can do is become friends. Because who would want to live with the person you hate? No one.
Well, to Ethan's case, it was one-sided.
"Unless one of us made an 'unforgivable' mistake." She added. Ethan raised his sharp eyebrow in slight confusion.
"What mistakes?" He asked.
"Guess." Lillie shortly replied. Ethan doesn't know whether to laugh or cry. This woman, tormenting him even to this day that they're finally living together and soon to be married.
"Alright, I'll be careful. Wouldn't want future Mrs Li to divorce me when there isn't a wedding yet, right?"
"Good thing you understand my point. If you'll excuse me, I'll retire first for this evening." Lillie left and went upstairs, leaving Ethan alone with his thoughts.
After a while, Ethan stood up from the sofa and went to the backyard. The evening air was refreshing and perfectly chilled, calming his senses.
"Mr Li?" He heard someone spoke behind. Ethan slightly averted his head to the side and saw Butler Tian. Ethan hummed for him to continue.
"You just need to be patient with the young miss. Women like her seems so hard to please but they are actually the one who appreciates others' hard work very much. Show her how you feel about her, little by little she'll notice your sincerity." Butler Tian wisely discussed before leaving him to his thoughts once again.
Ethan closed his eyes and exhaled. "Sincerity, huh." He remembered, back when they were in high school. He would place poems, flowers and chocolates on her locker. Regrettably, he was scared to fill in his name and make himself known to her.
Every time she comes back to the classroom, he always thought that she threw everything as her hands were always empty. So, he stopped putting stuffs on her locker, with the exemption of the letters, he believes that she would see his sincerity and diligence.

What he don't know, Lillie would happily eat the chocolates that was inside her locker before she enters the classroom. Lillie secretly loves sweets.
However, just to act the part she's taking, she would not eat them too much in public. With the exemption of these chocolates, coincidentally, they were her absolute favorite brand and type.
As for the flowers, she would leave then on the locker, fearing she might ruin them. But, she would come back after school's over and bring them back home to replant or preserve them.
The flowers were lilies, much like her nickname, that means long lasting and happy wedding. The letters were also carefully stored in a box that she personally made. Lillie is actually a woman who loves romantic people. Must've been because she's half-French.
She knew that her suitor hoped to marry her in the future as his poems were so beautifully done and were sweet. Unfortunately, the mysterious suitor had never mentioned his name or showed up and introduce himself to her.

Reality Grants One Chance
Some people are lucky, some aren't, some - have terrible luck. Our "hero" is of the latter kind. During young age he got into an accident, which allowed him to learn the fact that he belongs to a rare group of people.. People diagnosed with lung cancer, which he, however survived. Can't say he's lucky, as his life went downhill from that point... Our story happens years later, when his fate decides to make a loop and throw him in the same kind of accident. He gets hit by a truck. Surviving the crash, suffering just a few scratches, he is ultimately "lucky" to find himself out of the hospital in no time.. however every bit of good luck always brings him terrible luck afterwards. This time pushing him maybe a bit too far.. How far? Making him vanish without a trace and find himself in the middle of an unknown forrest. Doesn't sound bad? He can consider himself lucky? Just wait and see...It can always get worse.. always.. .... Congratulations, you've made it through the intro and into the author note! If you by any chance missed the tags and didn't read the warning, please do that now. I really recommend you to. Before you jump to reading, and unintentionally scar yourself, do mind that the story is about a dark, unforgiving world, a world in which you have more opportunities to die a horrible death, than take a piss. Hero doesn't have great luck, he has dumb persistance, he doesn't go through any trial with a breeze, he pays the price of blood, flesh and tears to live..and will be paying for every mistake.. No one outright explains anything to him, just as us for the most part - he is not sure what the hell is going on.. Some real survival tactics are used as a base of the descriptions, they are as important to the world and character as any other element.. Mind that the story starts really slow, but as the stone starts rolling downhill - the pace gets faster.. Every tag for this novel has a reason to be there, so if you don't see the particular element there, don't panic.. it's either well camoufalged, subtle or simply not encountered as of yet. Big thanks to Hobbo, Enyhrye and Hveth! ...not only pointing that the description could be better, but providing invaluable input.. and being patient enough to give fleshed out advice.

There is a common line of questioning that falls upon students within their first moments at Kingsly. “Why?”. The student asks, “Why am I here?”. This is a futile line of questioning. There are those who remember, and those who do not. I’ll spare you the technical explanation — that’s what we have teachers for. The jist is as follows: those who remember are... how do I put this... more likely. They occupy more time. and the space that time has allowed them — the pertinent amount — is experienced no matter what. Allow me to offer you a bit of personal information: I am not one who remembers. There is no time relevant to me, no space that I occupy. I exist by carving myself here, and continue to exist in the same fashion. You would do well to follow suit. Why am I here? Because I force myself to be. Because the universe, the universes, for all its kicking and screaming, cannot escort me out.

ELIOT NESS FOR MAYOR is a short novel of magical-realist fiction, a stand-alone book in the Shantytown Cycle. Written for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), I will be posting revisions as I complete them and should be done by early 2022, though I am making major changes so the timing may be longer. This book is cross-posted on two websites: Wattpad and Royal Road. Both are reputable, high-quality sites. Do not trust this book on other websites. They "scrape" material from reputable sites, posting the stolen material as an original to lure users in, but contain links that include malicious code.
