Lin Xuanji suddenly spotted a portrait at the nightstand.

She walked over, picking up the portrait. It was drawn using her pencil on her sketchbook. The woman looked just like her doppleganger, but was dressed every differently from her. The woman in the portrait wore a navy blue cheongsam with a slit.

But she had never worn a cheongsam before.

She had just turned 18, such a vintage and mature cheongsam wasn’t something she could pull off that easily.

Feeling his love and affection for her, Lin Xuanji fluttered her lashes. One portrait couldn’t possibly mean anything, she might have just been overthinking.

Though they had only known each other for two months, the way he looked at her so tenderly, the adoration in his gaze, it felt so genuine, he couldn’t possibly have feigned it.

She only believed what she felt from him.

The corners of her lips curved up, she stretched her hand out to hug him and nuzzled her face against his chest.

“What’s the matter? Why are you acting like a kitten?” Lu Jinwen laughed.

Lin Xuanji pouted her lips. “I’m a little afraid.”

“What are you afraid of?”

“I’m afraid that… you’ll not want me anymore.”

She had given him her virginity last night and felt insecure now. She was afraid that he would no longer want her, afraid that he wouldn’t marry her.

Lu Jinwen’s heart softened. She had it wrong. He was the one who was constantly afraid that she would forsake him.

He hugged her tightly hearing her say she was afraid that he would forsake her. “Silly girl, I’ll be responsible for you.”
