“I want to take a look at this watch,” Qianqian requested.

“Okay.” The salesperson unlocked the display case as he tried to contain his excitement.

But Lu Yan suddenly spoke up. “There’s no need.”

Lu Yan rejected her.

Qianqian was stunned. “Da Shan, don’t you like this watch?”

“I don’t like it.”

After saying that, Lu Yan turned around and left.

Lu Yan went outside the mall, slumping against the car while he waited outside.

Delia walked over, patting his shoulder. “Why did you reject Qianqian when she wanted to buy you a watch? As long as you are full, who cares if you’re depending on a woman?”

Lu Yan revealed a wry smile. “I’d rather stay hungry than depend on a woman.”

“You have a backbone! I like it.” Delia complimented him before taking out two stacks of notes. “This is your salary for the month. Take it.”

Lu Yan counted out forty from the stack of cash. There was some extra in the stack and he returned it to Delia. “4000 dollars, that’s all I’ll take.”

He didn’t want to take the extra money.

Delia raised his brows, taking the notes back. “What are you going to buy with your first paycheck?”

“I’m not sure yet.”

Lu Yan really had no idea. He used to be the overlord of the Capital and was so wealthy, he didn’t even have to bring cash out with him.

He had spent the past three years in the mountains with the children, though he wasn’t that well off, he could survive since he was living alone. As time passed, he didn’t even know where and how to spend his money.

It was really his first time receiving a paycheck.

“If you have a woman you fancy, go buy her some jewelry and accessories. All women love it.” Delia gave him an idea.

Really?

The corners of his lips kicked up with an inexplicable gentleness.

In the mall.

The salesperson was having a conversation with his colleague. “I just had a poor customer, a beauty wanted to gift him with a limited edition watch and he pretended he didn’t want it. What a poser.”

Right after he said that, he heard some sounds. Knock knock.

The salesperson turned behind to look. Lu Yan had returned with one hand in his pocket, the other was knocking on the display glass. He lifted his eyes, giving the salesperson an impassive glance with those deep-set eyes.

The salesperson’s face blanched, that one glance almost made his hair stand on end.

“Mi-Mister, what are you looking for?” the salesperson stammered.

Lu Yan averted his eyes, his gaze landing attracted by a certain lipstick.

It was a bright red color that stood out.

“How much is this?” he asked.

“Mister, this lipstick’s case is made of 18K pure gold, with the lipstick being handmade. The retail price is 3999.”

He had just received his paycheck of 4000 dollars.

“Okay, I’ll get this. Wrap it up for me.”

“Yes, Mister.”

In the luxury car, Lu Yan drove the car while Delia had some stuff to handle and had left first. There was only An’an and Qianqian left in the car with him.

An’an sat in the back seat while Qianqian sat in the passenger’s seat.

“Da Shan, my brother told me you just received your paycheck of 4000 dollars. Why don’t you treat me to supper?”

Lu Yan had both hands on the steering wheel, he didn’t even look at Qianqian while he replied, “I only have a dollar left in my pocket.”

“How is that possible? I don’t believe you.” Qianqian thought that he was just making excuses.

Lu Yan wasn’t lying at all. He had just spent 3999 dollars and was only left with a dollar in his pocket.

“Da Shan, what’s that thing around your neck? It’s so sparkly.” Qianqian had noticed the string around his neck with a sparkling diamond ring hanging on it.

Qianqian instantly stretched her hand out, wanting to touch the string around his neck.

Once An’an saw her doing that, her hands were balled into two fists.

No one else should touch the diamond ring.

She didn’t want Qianqian to touch his diamond ring.

Lu Yan stretched his arm out, blocking Qianqian away and she didn’t manage to touch it. “Sit still, don’t distract me while I’m driving.”

Qianqian was displeased. She sat properly in the passenger seat and said, “Da Shan, take Miss Gu home first, then you can take me back to my hotel room.”

She emphasized the word ‘hotel room’, making it sound scandalous.

“Miss Qianqian, maybe he should send you back to your hotel first,” An’an said.

The car was completely silent but the tension between the two women grew.

“Da Shan, who are you going to send home first?”

Lu Yan lifted his eyes, looking at An’an through the rearview mirror. An’an was looking at him too, her lustrous eyes watery.

He averted his eyes before saying, “Let’s take Miss Gu home first.”

Qianqian was delighted once she heard that.

An’an’s face blanched. Lowering her head disappointedly, she clenched her fists tightly.

The car parked downstairs of the apartment and An’an didn’t even lift her head, she just opened the door and took her purse with her to leave.

Lu Yan watched as she disappeared before he stepped on the accelerator and the car sped away.

“Blood Eagle, what’s your relationship with that Gu An’an?”

Qianqian tore away her latex mask, revealing a charming face under the mask.

Lu Yan held onto the steering wheel, replying, “My woman.”

“What?” Qianqian’s face changed, but she quickly regained her composure. “Blood Eagle, I’m going to give you some time to break up with Gu An’an as soon as possible. My father is going to step down soon. As long as you marry me, you’ll be the next General.”

Lu Yan had a poker face on, he didn’t speak.

“Blood Eagle, your family background is tainted. Your father is a thief, no matter your achievements in the army, no matter how legendary you are, you can never wear your uniform. The only way for you to become a soldier is for you to marry me. Only after you marry me, can you come out from the darkness. She had put away her dignity and tried to please him.

“Blood Eagle, which part of me are you not pleased with? Tell me, I can change it.” Qianqian’s voice softened as she pleaded.

Lu Yan didn’t have any expression on his face. “You may be great, but what does that have to do with me?”

In the apartment.

An’an took a hot shower and her mind was filled with scenes of Lu Yan and Qianqian together. She was so pissed off she didn’t even eat dinner.

A melodious ringtone sounded, she had an incoming phone call.

It was Lu Yan.

She looked at her phone, wanting to pick up the call but after a moment, she threw the phone on the sofa.

She wasn’t going to pick up.

Ding! She received a text message—-I’m outside your apartment, open the door.
