“It’s better for them to swap their identities back. Then Mo’er can return to the Lu family and Qi’er would come back to us. Mo’er will never make trouble for Qi’er.”

Qin Yawen’s hands were balled into fists under the table after realizing Tang Hai wasn’t on a united front with her. Qi’er was their rightful daughter and yet he was biased towards Tang Mo’er. How could she not hate Tang Mo’er?

Qi’er was the rightful daughter of the Lu family, how could she allow Tang Mo’er to take away Qi’er’s status and enjoy the privileges of the Lu family?

But Qin Yawen kept mum without revealing her actual thoughts, she proceeded to have a sip of coffee.

The cafe door was pulled open, Tang Mo’er had arrived.

She wore a khaki-colored coat and her satiny hair was draped over her shoulders. Her fashion sense was well complemented with her exquisite beauty and not forgetting her svelte figure, she was bound to have heads turning for her.

“Mo’er, I’m over here.” Tang Hai tried to get her attention.

After hearing his voice, Tang Mo’er lifted her lucid eyes and strode over.

“Mo’er, sit beside Daddy.”

“Oh, okay.” Tang Mo’er took the seat beside Tang Hai.

She observed Tang Hai and Qin Yawen’s faces, there wasn’t even a bit of familiarity to her. No matter how much she tried, she just couldn’t recall who they were.

Qin Yawen had spotted Tang Mo’er’s unusual gaze and figured out that she must have lost her memory. Things were going in her favor.

“Mo’er.” Qin Yawen pulled onto Tang Mo’er’s hand tenderly. “What would you like to have today, let’s place an order.”

Qin Yawen then gave the waiter a signal.

A suspicious looking waiter then appeared, he wore a cap and his face couldn’t be seen clearly. He placed the menu in front of Tang Mo’er. “Miss, you may take a look at the menu before deciding.”

Tang Mo’er looked down and browsed through the menu.

She spotted the waiter holding a knife in his hands with the tail of her eye, he was aiming it at Tang Mo’er’s chest and was about to stab her.

“Mo’er, be careful!”

Tang Hai was nimble, with a sudden spring, he had acted as Tang Mo’er’s human shield and protected her from the attack.

The waiter’s knife had lacerated Tang Hai’s arm, he was bleeding profusely.

Tang Mo’er was petrified, she hurriedly applied pressure on Tang Hai’s wound. “Daddy, are you okay? Help, we need help here!”

Tang Mo’er screamed loudly.

The customers in the cafe had been alarmed and someone ran over, offering them assistance.

The waiter was at a loss of what to do, he threw the knife away and escaped without giving any second thought.

Qin Yawen looked troubled, she was one step away from succeeding this time round and yet Tang Hai had to appear and save Tang Mo’er?

It seems like Tang Hai still thought of Tang Mo’er as his daughter, he was emotionally attached to her.

Qin Yawen was crestfallen once she noticed someone had come over to offer them assistance. She knew for sure that there wouldn’t be another opportunity like this again. Qi’er would have to depend on this chance to make sure her life and status would be secured.

She would do anything just for Qi’er’s sake.

Even killing Tang Mo’er would be justifiable for her love for Lu Qi’er.

Qin Yawen’s mind was fully controlled by her demonic senses, she stood up from her seat and walked towards Tang Mo’er. “Are the two of you okay, do you need to see the doctor?”

Qin Yawen appeared beside Tang Mo’er while hiding a knife in her hands.

She gathered her strength and tried to stab Tang Mo’er with the knife.

Tang Mo’er lifted her luminous eyes, Qin Yawen’s virulent face had appeared before her eyes, just like a devil.

She was perplexed and at a loss, wasn’t Qin Yawen her mother?

Why did her mother even try to kill her?

“Tang Mo’er, die!” Qin Yawen was determined to ruin Tang Mo’er and she was about to stab Tang Mo’er.

At the next moment, someone appeared and gave Qin Yawen a powerful kick. She landed on the ground like a lifeless doll.

The knife had fallen on the ground and Qin Yawen spat out a mouthful of blood. She had looked around and noticed that many people had arrived at the cafe.

Gu Mohan strode over and rapidly carried Tang Mo’er into his arms. He planted a subtle kiss on her forehead before asking, “Mo’er, are you injured?”

Tang Mo’er’s limbs went cold and all color had drained from her face. She shook her head and replied, “I’m fine.”

There were two other figures behind Gu Mohan. It was… Lu Jinwen and Lu Yan.

The two men were clad in black overcoats and emanated a similar aura, one that was strong and powerful. They had the entire cafe quieten down to a deadly silence once they made their appearance.

Qin Yawen felt a quiver of fear, she realized that she had fallen into a trap.

Just when she thought she was in control, it turned out that she was being set up.

Tang Hai was completely baffled, he gave Qin Yawen a perplexed look. “Qin Yawen, why did you try to hurt Mo’er? Didn’t you tell me you were trying to make amend? Y-You…”

Gu Mohan held Tang Mo’er tightly in his arms, their bodies were only separated by the thin layers of clothes they wore. His gaze riveted on Tang Hai and he explained, “Qin Yawen and Lu Qi’er were planning to kill Mo’er today. I already saw through their plans and allowed Mo’er to meet you two today.”

“What?” Tang Hai was astonished.

Gu Mohan lowered his gaze while he looked at Qin Yawen who was prostrated on the ground. He then broke out into a wry smile. “It is said that despair gives even a coward courage. I brought Mo’er to the airport and this mother and daughter duo were close to going insane from panic. Judging from their intelligence levels, they were most likely going to stab Mo’er to death. I had Mo’er appear today while my men kept watch, your every move was under my surveillance. Though you tried to be smart, you only looked to be even more of a pathetic joke.”

Qin Yawen’s eyes flickered, she had indeed been set up while still thinking that she was the one in control.

Gu Mohan had two purposes for bringing Tang Mo’er to the airport. The first being to look for Lu Jinwen and the second would be to scare Qin Yawen and Lu Qi’er into taking action. It was said that when cats caught their prey, they preferred not to eat them, but rather, to torture them to death. Gu Mohan was the epitome of a cunning cat.

This man was as menacing as he was known by others.

No, it might be that he had a third purpose in doing all of that.

His third purpose would be to make sure that Lu Jinwen and Lu Yan were present to witness her try to kill Tang Mo’er.

She was Tang Mo’er’s adoptive mother and Gu Mohan wanted Lu Jinwen and Lu Yan to see for themselves, what Tang Mo’er had gone through all these years.

He wanted them to witness for themselves, how the real daughter of the Lu family was leading an austere life, while Lu Qi’er was enjoying her luxuries and a privileged status.
