Never Judge Chapter 182

Martin was sitting at his desk waiting for the media to report the press releases that his cousin had promised would come out. He trusted her when she told him last night that she was going to find a way for her part of the plan to go through.
At exactly ten in the morning a swarm of police vehicles arrived at R Tower and the cops went to the different floors and departments to arrest the members of the syndicate. As one of the ring leaders, Martin was their first priority. He was doing his work when the police burst into his department's area and placed him in cuffs.
Martin was so shocked with what had just happened that he couldn't even respond. As they dragged him out of the office, he saw them arresting other members of the syndicate.
How could they have failed? They had made sure that there were no rats or spies among them. They made sure to check everyone's background and motivation before bringing them into the fold, how were they caught?
Martin and the members of the syndicate were brought to the main police station. They sat on the floor as they waited for the charges against them to be brought up.
Some members shouted for their right to an attorney, but Martin knew who they were up against. They had gone against the Reyes Clan, people who practically ran the country. With their alliance with the Sebastian family intact, it was clear that the Reyes Clan would have no issues in disposing of them. How they would be disposed of was a different matter.
Martin scanned the group looking for Cedric and Carissa, both of whom were missing. At first his doubts went to Cedric being the leak, but with Carissa missing as well it was possible that it was neither of the two. He thought back to it possibly being their backer, Carlos De Dios, but Mr. De Dios had nothing to gain from ratting them out.

After a few moments, the same police that had arrested him dragged in Chris Garin and Carlos De Dios. The father and son seemed beaten up badly as there was dry blood on them, Martin could even see Chris Garin's broken nose.
Martin didn't dare speak up, if any of them had hope of escaping this it was best if they pretend not to know each other. They were of course not left alone in the room, there were multiple policemen and what seemed to be members of a private security group. It was clear that the Reyes Clan was afraid that they would try something.
As Martin looked around the doors opened again, but this time it wasn't more arrested individuals being dragged in. Martin could clearly see Alexander and Katerina Sebastian walking in with the chief of police.
"Thank you for your quick response chief." Martin heard Alexander Sebastian say to the chief of police.
"We were only doing our job congressman Alexander. These men are criminals so of course we should arrest them." The chief of police was clearly sucking up to the president's son.
"Will you allow me to say things to them off the record?" Katerina Sebastian asked.
"Of course, you are the first daughter, we can give you some space." The chief of police said.
"Please don't let your men leave. They might try to hurt us." Katerina said with a frown.
"Yes, yes, Miss Sebastian, we will keep you company and my men will protect you." To Martin who was just listening, it seemed that the chief of police was acting like a teenager trying to please his crush.
Katerina and Alexi walked up to the front and looked at the people who had just been arrested. Those that were taken from R Tower were shaken but not hurt. It was a different case for Carlos De Dios and Chris Garin who were taken from their home in the city.

"You have all offended someone you shouldn't." Katerina started. "However, if it was just a simple offense we would have let it go. But you all went as far as violating the law and you will all pay for your crimes." Katerina said this in a cold tone.
"It's interesting how one of your ring leaders ratted you out while another escaped." Alexi said with a menacing laugh. "Who knew that the one to rat you out would be the one related to your other boss."
Alexi watched as all the color in Martin's face drained. He had a look of disbelief, it was impossible that his cousin, Carissa had been the one to turn them in.
"Whoever can tell us who else was part of this syndicate within the Reyes Group will get a lighter punishment." Alexi declared in a loud voice.
"There was no one else. It's just us." Martin shouted. He had already checked the people that were arrested. With the exception of around five or six persons plus Cedric and Carissa, everyone else seemed to have been arrested.
"Ha! Are you trying to save the others?" Alexi asked as he took a step closer to Martin. He grabbed the man by the chin and lifted his face to look at him in the eyes. Alexi had such a scary look that Martin wet himself from staring at the man. "I will hunt every single one of them down. The Reyeses are like family to me, and you all went after my family." At that Alexi threw Martin to the ground.
"Take them to prison. Leave these two." Alexi commanded pointing at Carlos De Dios and Chris Garin.
When the members of the syndicate were all gone Carlos and his son were dragged by the police to Alexi's and Katerina's feet. When they were close enough Alexi kicked Chris on the face and the man fell back due to the force.
"I've been wanting to do that for months." Alexi said as he called a bodyguard to wipe the blood off his shoe.
"I never did anything to you." Carlos De Dios said to Alexi.
"Not to us you idiot." Katerina said in a cold tone. "You tried to kill someone I consider to be my older brother and you made an attempt on someone I see as my sister. You will not be forgiven."
Alexi placed a cigarette to his mouth and lit it. After a few puffs he squatted down and placed out the cigarette on Chris Garin. Chris who was already in immense pain shouted.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. You are such a horrible person." Alexi said.
"Alexi, you don't need to be so harsh." A voice said from the door. Chris' eyes widened, he knew that voice, and yet it was still different. There was an air of confidence and authority in the tone that caused Chris to shiver involuntarily.

The Forgotten Hero
Long ago, in the world of Thyne, the Alliance of the Free Races, a name they had given themselves, summoned a hundred humans from another dimension. Praised as heroes by the people, they rejoiced that they had been able to acquire pure, mana deficient humans that wanted to aid them in their time of need, ignoring the black, archaic slave collars around their necks or the depressed, almost hate-filled expressions that they received when interacting with them. After Ten years of bloody war, the dark races were pushed back deep into their territories. Both sides were near breaking point and desperate to end the war once and for all. In a bargain, the twelve surviving heroes launched a high-risk mission, utilising advanced tactics from their home world to kill the Demon Lord. In exchange, they would be sent home, along with the magically preserved corpses of their comrades, though in truth, they knew that even if they returned, they would never be the same. Legends say that, upon ambushing the Demon Lord in his castle, they finally understood the plight of the world, and in the last act of heroism, sacrificed their lives, sealing him in an eternal prison so his essence would not be able to create another. With the loss of the Demon Lord, and no chance for another to be born, the dark races quickly surrendered and the free races celebrated, honouring the noble sacrifice of the heroes before quickly forgetting about them as they returned to their everyday lives. However, legends are rarely truthful, embellished by the victors in order to earn praise as well as hide the less desirable aspects of their deeds. Trapped in the Demon Lord's throne room inside the Demonic Palace, which even taking a single step on its desecrated grounds is punished by death, two figures remain motionless. They had long run out of insults and threats to trade and now they waited. For what, not even the Gods knew.
