Standing Right Next To You Chapter 408

When Lina returned from the washroom, she found her boyfriend in the same seat as earlier.
Neither had he moved nor had the dishes placed on the table.
"You could have started without me." She shook her head at his behavior.
'Mrs. Ping would have yelled at me for not eating as soon as the food arrives.' She recalled the old lady back in Yang Manor who took excellent care of her.
This only reminded her that she needed to rush her work and return to her home by the earliest.
Reuben smiled and gestured for her to take the seat opposite him.
"I want new coffee." Lina declared as she gave the cups filled by the waitress a stink-eye.
The CEO dressed in his suit and tie shook his head at his demanding Kitten but did not refuse her.
He brought the two cups over to the sink in their room and poured out its contents before returning to prepare fresh cups of coffee for them.
The jug of coffee and milk was right there so there wasn't an issue with preparing it again.
"It had gotten cold anyway." He supported her childish demands and even made excuses for her.
However, on the inside, Reuben was bursting with joy at seeing her jealous behavior.
'I did not mean to make her jealous but I won't deny that she looks cute when she is.' He surmised after watching her puffed-up cheeks as she blew air into the cup of coffee he had handed over to her.
Lina could feel his gaze and looked up at him with her brows raised.
'Looks like he is enjoying this!' She rolled her eyes before staring down at the man who returned to his seat.
"So, mind explaining what I had walked in on?" She interrogated him, trying to find any traces of panic in his eyes.
'The men in the novels always get shifty and panicked and they also make up excuses to not let the female lead misunderstand.' She recalled her trusted novels and waited for his reply.
On the other side of the table, Reuben blinked his dark eyes at the woman who had just asked the most obvious question even when she knew just what had taken place.

'She was the key witness yet she asks me this.' He rolled his eyes then maintained the gaze that she had fixed on him.
"She wanted to 'Serve' me and I said 'Leave'." He re-enacted the same scene from earlier with a deadpan tone.
Lina choked on the sip of coffee that she had just taken and coughed while patting her chest.
"Can you not make me laugh when I am drinking something!?" She growled and accepted the tissue he had handed over to her.
"Weren't you the one who asked me for an explanation for what you saw?" He retorted as an innocent look appeared on his face.
Lina narrowed her eyes but sighed as it was her provocation that had led to this incident.
'But no matter what he says, I did not like that lady's behavior!' She frowned when she thought of how the waitress had behaved when she thought that she was alone with Reuben.
Glancing at her boyfriend's handsome face, Lina scowled and clicked her tongue.
'It's this face of his that attracts people everywhere!' She narrowed her eyes while scrutinizing his good looks.
Unfortunately, Reuben had misunderstood her expressions after noticing her frown.
He thought that he had realized the cause of worry on her face and what was on her mind following which he smiled at her.
'She's bothered by that woman's bold actions.' He inferred and reached out to hold her hand which was placed on the table.
"You don't have to worry, Kitten. There aren't many people who can attract my attention." He declared in a smug tone but halted when he saw the amused look on her face.
'Oh, not many people…' She tilted her head while leaning forward after pulling her hand away before he could touch it.
Resting her elbows on the table, she interlocked her fingers and placed her chin on them.
"So how many others have managed to do so?" She questioned and tilted her head to the other side.
The glint of danger in her eyes as she awaited what his answer might be, made the young heir of the Ming family gulp his saliva.

'Is it that girl with whom he shared his first kiss?' Lina's mind was thinking of the person who could have been in this limited list of people who had gained his attention.
Funnily, she had not yet been informed that the person she was beginning to feel jealous of was none other than her former younger self.
Reuben, on the other hand, had not realized that she was thinking of the women who had succeeded in attracting his attention.
"You will meet all of them soon enough, Kitten." He answered vaguely without explaining any further.
He then let out a chuckle at seeing the pouting face she had on right now after listening to his deflecting words.
'You already met the twins cause they are your brothers. The rest of my trusted people, you will meet them in due time.' He smiled as he promised her this in his mind.
The people who could attract his attention that he had in mind were widely varying from the people that Lina had in her mind.
Though this confusion would also soon be lifted, right now they had different thoughts in their minds.
"I have a series of meetings today so I might be later than usual." Reuben informed as he hurried to finish his breakfast.
Lina snapped out of her mildly jealous thoughts and nodded her head, indicating that she had heard him.
"I will be back before dinner time." He added as he sipped the new coffee that he had prepared for them both.
'I should have a talk with the Manager about the type of people they are hiring in their hotel.' He decided as he glanced at the now empty cup.
They were not aware that the Manager had not turned up at the hotel due to personal reasons which resulted in them meeting this waitress instead of the usual faces they came across each day.
Therefore, Reuben was determined to let the Manager have a piece of his mind later on.
'Even if I like that jealous look on Kitten's face. I do not wish to see that woman in this suite again.' He scoffed at the very thought of that audacious woman.
Lina had no clue about his thoughts but it was sure that she had similar ones in her head.
'Manager Lang's staff is so nice and friendly but this one was a little too friendly.' She sneered and decided that she should talk to him soon.
Thus, Manager Lang who was currently resting in bed with a cooling pad on his head to reduce his body's temperature sneezed thrice due to the people thinking about him at this very moment.
With them being in their own thoughts, breakfast came to an end, and with that had ended Reuben's time in this suite.
"I'll be back soon." He mumbled as he stood before the door, dressed and prepared to head out.
Lina nodded and smiled at the sulking face of the man who was not stepping outside even after announcing his departure.
Raising her brows in question she stared at him and blushed when he tapped his lips, pointing out what he wanted from her.
She chuckled and stood on her toes with her hands on his chest as she pecked him on his lips.
The grumbling whimper she heard from him when they separated only made her chuckle again.
"More when you return." She laid down her condition and then pushed him out of the door she had opened sneakily.
Reuben stared at the door which had now shut in his face and shook his head while touching his lips, reminiscing the lingering sensation of her soft lips on them.
'I shall return soon then!' He declared and smirked as he was sure that she would have to face the punishment for kicking out without remorse.
'Kitten is becoming playful and bold.' He realized and was pleased with the progress of their relationship.
Dropping the smile, Reuben returned to his stoic face and turned around only to find someone standing at the end of the corridor, frozen in place with their eyes wide open.
