"Tch!"

The vibrations of the phone that were getting annoying now was soon followed by an irked click of the tongue.

Valerie Zheng held the vibrating phone in her hand as she shot an apologetic glance at the woman who had clicked her tongue at the young lady.

"Shh! Turn your phone off!" The woman commanded while furrowing her brows.

Though Valerie would have snarled right back if this was someone else, she could only nod her head submissively in acceptance of the command that was thrown at her face.

'If it wasn't for Brother Louis…' She stayed silent after recalling who this woman was.

The woman who had snapped at Valerie was none other than one of the best friends of Moira Huo who was also the godmother of her crush, Louis Huo.

If she wished to get closer to the man of her dreams then she had to make sure that these women did not stand in her way later on.

Hence she smiled at the woman who was focussing her attention on the drama that was taking place a few tables away from theirs.

Glancing down at the person who had called her six times already and refused to give up even when she disconnected the call each time, Valerie scoffed as she switched her phone off.

'Whatever it is, we can talk about it later.' She sneered while tossing her phone back inside the purse.

She then turned her gaze towards the table where Moira Huo had walked up to so that she might catch a better glimpse at the drama that was ensuing right at this moment.

'Take in the view of what kind of horrible person Lina is! Maybe this way you can forbid Brother Louis from ever coming in contact with that nasty woman!' She prayed that her wishes might come true.

Even to this day, the image of her beloved standing at such close proximity with that other woman at the ball haunted her dreams.

All she wanted was to make sure that they never stood next to each other ever again.

However, she would not have to do much in this regard as Reuben Ming would be willing to take up that task of never letting his Kitten stay beside that man as long as he was with her.

While Valerie was lost in her thoughts of what should never happen, the woman whom she wished to impress was intently paying attention to what was happening.

Moira narrowed her eyes when she heard Lina's name coming up in the conversation.

When the young lady had inquired about Lina's involvement in the topic at hand, the Lady of the Huo family finally understood what was going on.

'So this is a scheme to defame Miss Yang?' She pondered and shook her head at this nonsense.

After the debut ball where she had first met Lina Yang, she had made sure to corner her son and interrogate him about the young lady.

Though he was reluctant at first, Louis was left with no choice but to fill her in on the details when she threatened to meet with Patrick Yang to ask for her hand in marriage.

This was when she heard her son explain the type of person his junior was.

'Though she might appear all dumb and ditzy, she is one of the best businesswomen I have ever come in contact with.' His high words of praise had baffled her.

This was mainly because according to her sources, Lina was just a consultant in the famous jewelry company.

Though the smile that Louis had flashed her expressed that he knew much more than what he had revealed to her.

No matter how much she pestered him to let her in on the secrets he knew about this child who had even won the old Patriarch of the Huo family, Louis stayed mum about it.

Thus, now she could not bring herself to believe anything that was being spoken against the same lady who had managed to impress two generations of her family.

"Is she such a hot head?" The same young lady from earlier questioned after she heard the incidents that Mandy had been so kind as to share with them.

Since Jeanette's leg was in a cast, an extra chair was brought over so that she might take her seat in order to not put extra strain over her injured leg.

When Valerie noticed this she sneered since she was sure that this young miss was faking her injury right from the start.

Moira was still ignorant of the connection between the Zheng sisters and these two women therefore she was confused about why this was happening.

'I get that this bastard child wishes to target the one who can be a threat to her future but I still do not understand what Miss Liang gains from doing this.' She speculated the reason why they were so bent about denouncing Lina's actions in such a public setting.

If Mandy had come by her lonesome and whined about the mistreatment she faced thanks to Lina in the Yang Manor then no one would have given her a second glance.

However, the addition of the 'angelic' socialite, Jeanette caused all the differences in the world.

These ladies were furious that Jeanette was injured because she stood up for her friend who was facing such emotional abuse in the Yang family.

They did not blame Mandy for causing trouble but channeled the wrath towards Lina who was the root cause of this problem.

Not only had the new heiress created problems for her cousin she had also viciously attacked the woman who had courageously stood up for her friend.

"How did you manage to make it to the hospital?" The inquisitive young woman from earlier polled once again.

This question made all the women around Jeanette raise their eyebrows in curiosity when they saw the young lady blush without restraint.

"Why the shy expression, Jeanette honey?" The oldest woman patted her hand while urging her to speak up.

Even Mandy was curious about this as Jeanette had left them at the restaurant and vanished without a clue.

Only the next day did Mandy hear about the argument and the injury that her friend had sustained.

"It was brother Wayne who carried me all the way to the hospital. He was there until the end of my check-up and even dropped me back home." She disclosed as her blush deepened.

These words made the women giggle like young girls as they congratulated the success of her love after all these years.

Most of these women had seen Jeanette trying to strike up a conversation with the CEO of Luo industries but the man was a known playboy who was surrounded by numerous women.

Though they did not agree to the possible union of this angelic child with that womanizer, they could say nothing when they witnessed her adamant behavior.

Now, after all these years, her continuous efforts of trying to let her love touch his heart had finally given fruit, everyone was happy for her.

Well… Almost everyone.

This was because there was one person who could not help but grit their teeth after hearing Jeanette's words.
