Standing Right Next To You Chapter 238

Lina's blurry eyes could barely make out the figure standing a few feet away from the wardrobe at the end of the room.
With her hands which were still wrapped around Reuben's neck, she had to release one hand to wipe her eyes, or else she would have no other way of seeing who it was.
'I can't believe he did that to me!' Her soft sniffles filled the silent room.
Reuben glanced at her as she slowly wiped the tears that had filled her eyes while her other hand held onto his shirt tighter than before.
'I would never let her fall, she should stop being so paranoid about it.' He smiled after observing her overly cautious behavior.
Once the tears had disappeared from her eyes, she was about to see the person who was staring back at her with a blank expression on her face.
'Ehhh…??' Lina's mind was befuddled when she saw who it was.
Though she did not recognize the face of the person as she had never met them before she also had her doubts about the suspicions that had been swirling around inside her brain.
'Unless Ruby has an old lady fetish… I think we might have misunderstood something here.' She pondered and then continued gawking at the person she found inside the room.
The reason for this reversal in her thinking was the scene that she had witnessed upon entering the room.
There, by the wardrobe stood a woman who looked like she was in her late fifties dressed in a beige T-shirt and an oversized black three-fourth cotton pants.
Looking at the woman's clothes, Lina was reminded of the old ladies she had seen in local sitcoms who were usually called the 'nosy aunties' as they liked to meddle in everyone's business.
All she was missing were the white sports shoes and obnoxiously large sunglasses that covered half their faces.
The woman they had seen, now stood frozen in the same spot since the door was pushed open and she noticed who had entered the room.
Her eyeballs could have popped out and fallen to the floor considering how wide she had opened her eyes.
"Y-young M-ma-aster?" The elderly woman stammered once she recollected her composure and bowed at Reuben.
'Am I hallucinating? Who is this man who looks like my young master and more importantly, who is that woman in his arms?' She could not stop staring at Lina who was still snug as she remained in Reuben's arms.

Regaining her senses which had numbed for a moment after she observed the person inside the room, Lina began struggling to get out of his arms once again.
Reuben did not let her do as she pleased. He, in turn, tightened his hold around her waist and then glared at her with his brows raised.
"Want me to punish you again like I just did?" He whispered in her ear, knowing full well that she would understand exactly what he was talking about.
Of course, Lina knew what his words were pointing towards and she instantly stopped and stayed still in his arms.
'He wants to spank me again? And even do it in this old lady's presence? How shameless!' She glowered at him in her heart yet did not dare to move.
Call it a punishment or a smack to keep her still in his arms but deep down she knew that she had just been spanked by this mean man.
Her red ears which were now the only thing visible as she had hidden her face in the crook of his neck elicited a deep and low chuckle from the master of this house.
Seeing the cozy and bubbly atmosphere between the two youngsters, the old lady was certain that the young lady in her master's arms was the reason why she had been summoned here.
Though she was baffled at the smile that was on her master's usually cold and stoic face, she knew that it was not her place to ask questions regarding his personal life.
'I feel like I am not supposed to stay here any longer.' She decided and then quickly placed the things in her hands inside the wardrobe.
The longer she witnessed this strange behavior between them, the higher the chances of her being subjected to her master's deadly glares.
So she decided to leave this place as quickly as she could.
"I will leave the two of you alone, Master." She announced and then shut the door of the wardrobe that she had been standing by.
Her work here was done anyway and she was just giving them a few finishing touches when she had been distracted by this couple entering the room.
"Hmm… Thank you, Mrs. Jun." Reuben responded and stepped aside to let the old lady leave the room.
She was considerate enough to shut the door in order to give the cozy couple some privacy.
'She deserves a raise.' Reuben nodded when he saw her clever behavior.

He did not want the lady to witness the talk that they would soon have and he was glad that she was wise enough to leave the room before he had asked her to do so.
Now that they had been left to their own devices, Reuben swiftly twisted the knob and locked the door from the inside.
'To prevent any pesky brothers from barging inside.' He scoffed when he thought of the two statues waiting in the hall.
He then turned his eyes to the woman who remained in the same position with her face hidden from his sight.
"You wanted to know whether I was cheating, right?" He snickered mockingly as he began walking forward once again.
The weakness he had felt last night due to his fever was nowhere to be seen and instead he strode ahead with the vigor and vitality of any healthy young man.
"Take a look at the proof of my so-called Cheating!" He sneered when his feet came to a halt after taking just a few steps into the room.
Lina nervously looked up and turned towards the direction that he had been staring in.
"Those are my…" She trailed off course and then turned her head towards the man, looking for answers.
Reuben smirked when he saw the puzzled and surprised look she had on her face.
"Yes, those are all of your clothes which were in Benji's house." He confirmed the doubt that had come to her mind.
'So… He wasn't … Huh?' Lina could not help but be confused at this weird turn of events.
She had come here with the intention of catching him red-handed in her mind but what she saw was completely out of her expectations.
'Silly Kitten, she let her brain run wild once again and ran all the way over here!' He could not help but feel sorry for her since she had to live with that over-imaginative mind.
But this did not mean that he would forgive her so easily for doubting him and even believing that he would cheat on her.
Lina continued to stare at the large wardrobe that now had all of her clothes she had left at Benji's arranged in an orderly fashion.
'This arrangement looks even more appealing than what Suzie had done!' She commended the old lady who was much better at this than her OCD riddled maid back at Yang Manor.
She then turned her head back to face the man whom she had wrongly accused without any proof.
The guilt and shame on her face were enough to show how bad she felt about the baseless accusations she and her brothers had thrown at him.
"Ruby, I am so…" She bowed her head and began her apology.
Reuben rolled his eyes at the woman who looked like a little girl who was being reprimanded by her elders.
"Stop right this instant!" He straightaway refused to listen to her words of apology before she could utter them.
She continued gazing at his face with a pensive and apologetic look on hers.
'He must be hurt so now he does not want to listen to my words.' She understood in an instant that he was not willing to forgive her for what she had done.
Reuben did not explain the reason for declining her words as he shut the wardrobe and then walked towards the bed.
Lina gripped him tight and close to her body when she felt him bow down when he reached the bed.
'What is he planning to do?' She cried out in panic as she silently observed his next actions.
He conveniently placed the pillow against the headboard before taking his seat on the bed.
With Lina now on his lap and his back against the headboard, he looked into the eyes of the beautiful woman whose face had turned a deep red in embarrassment.
'So he just wanted to sit? Why am I so ecchi these days?' She shook her head while reprimanding herself for the lewd thoughts that were popping up in her mind much too frequently.
Reuben watched the woman acting like a fool on his lap and could not help but sigh.
'Why do I have a feeling that she had another weird thought in that silly little brain of hers?' He guessed and he was completely accurate.
"Mind telling me what made you think that I was cheating on you, my doubting Kitten?" He requested while hooking his fingers under her chin.
He lifted her head up which had been looking down all along and gazed into her hazel eyes which contained those golden flecks that he found to be splendid and intriguing at the same time.

Turning his body, he first looked at his butler who had his head bowed. With great courage, the butler came to meet his master's eyes, "Do you have any other better time? Or should it be after I wring your neck?" Damien asked calmly tilting his head. Not a second later, the butler ran out of the room to return back with Mr. Reverale after twenty minutes. "Damien, are we having a late tea party?" Mr. Reverale came to greet but the master of the house had other plans. Spotting the knife that was stuck to the apple on the table, he reached for it to pull it out. Just as Mr. Reverale went to exchange a handshake with him, Damien took hold of his hand to place it on the table. In one swift movement as if he were chopping onions, he chopped the four fingers of the man off his hand making him yelp and cry in pain."No one touches what is mine. I am sure this will remind you the next time you even think about touching her," sighed Damien as if he were tired of telling people to keep their dirty hands off his belongings.
