Standing Right Next To You Chapter 65

Lina entered the dimly lit passage and walked past the door with the men's symbol on it.

The passage only had a few light bulbs hanging from the ceiling between large distances that made it look sinister and scary.

'Geez, this place looks like something you would see in a horror movie.' Lina quickly walked forward.

After a few steps, she found the women's restroom sign so she pushed the door open and walked in.

She looked around to see how the place was. It was brightly lit and had a huge mirror on the wall. Three women stood in front of it and they were talking in an excited manner.

'I hate using public restrooms because I can never pee when I know that people are around!' Facing a dilemma, she stood looking at the stalls for a few seconds.

The three women stopped talking the moment they noticed that there was another person standing behind them.

Lina entered the washroom and used the facilities. She came out when she was done and noticed that the three women were giving her strange looks but she did not pay any heed to them.

She looked at herself in the huge mirror and after fixing her hair, she applied another layer of lip gloss.

'The lighting here is awesome! Let's click a few pictures for the family chat group.'

She then fished her phone out of her fuzzy sling purse and started clicking mirror selfies.

She pouted, winked, and even took a little ten-second video of herself posing while batting her lashes like a little girl before sending them to her family.

*Don't I look the prettiest?* She attached this message along with the images.

Having completed her work here, she put her phone back inside and looked at her watch.

'It's been fifteen minutes… They must be done by now. How long can you keep kissing someone anyway?' She decided that it was time for her to get back to her friends and walked to the door.

'They have some explaining to do!' She was prepared to interrogate them on how they moved so quickly.

Lost in her own world, she did not notice the nasty look that one of the women was giving her.

"Do you think she'll be fine?" One of them asked timidly when she saw that Lina had left the restroom.

"Why does it matter to us? She is the one who attracted their attention. Hmph!" The woman who looked like she was their queen bee smirked while looking at the closed door.

"Totally! She deserves what's coming to her, did you not see how she was dancing without a care. She and her slutty friends were taking everyone's attention away from us!" The third woman chimed in while she swiped the bold red lipstick on her thin lips.

"But-" The timid woman wanted to speak further but shut herself up when she saw her friends glaring at her.

'I hope you are alright…' She twisted the edge of her sleeves and prayed.

-----

'I better go sit down for some time, I won't be able to feel my feet any longer if I continue standing in these shoes.' Lina tapped her heels on the marbled floor and groaned when she felt an ache in her ankles.

She took two steps forward and saw someone leaning against the wall.

'Why is he standing in such a scary pose?' She wondered as her feet paused.

Since the man was standing right underneath the light bulb with his head lowered, Lina could not see his face clearly.

But she saw the clothes he wore. A black suit with the top two buttons of his white shirt left open. He exuded a certain charm as he lazily leaned there and played with the cuff links on his sleeves.

Her eyes moved to his fitted pants and then to the shoes that were definitely not sold in the market. This meant that either they were from a new luxury brand that she had no clue about or that they were custom made for his feet.

'Damn… That's one well-dressed man!' She inwardly exclaimed as she took another step forward.

The man looked up at her when her heels made a clicking noise as it hit the floor.

'Stupid loud heels. I ju-' Her inner monologue came to a halt when she saw who was standing in front of her. The man had straightened himself and she now had a proper look at his face.

'I feel like I've seen him somewhere..' She looked at him unblinkingly and searched her memories to find any trace of seeing such a fine specimen before.

The bright lights over him made his deep brown eyes look like they were sparkling. Her eyes met his and then moved to his lips and the mole right under it.

"What are you thinking about?"

As she was trying to figure out what the shape of his mole was, she heard him speak in a low and hoarse voice.

'Oh, the gravel in his voice sounds so sexy!' She mentally evaluated his voice and gave him an eight out of ten. Though she enjoyed it, she couldn't give ten on ten to just about anyone.

"I'm trying to remember where I might have seen you before." Caught in his dreamy voice, she answered him truthfully.

The smirk on his face instantly fell when he heard what she had blurted out in her trance.

'This is such a Deja vu moment.'

This action of his finally ignited Lina's brain cells and she remembered where she had seen him before.

"I remember! You are that creep I met on the flight!" She cheerfully exclaimed and recalled how she had insulted him back then.

'I did him dirty because I was embarrassed. That was very childish of me, I better apologize.' She felt bad for her past deeds and sweetly smiled at him.

He one the other hand was not in the least bit affected by her smile, in fact, it looked as if he was more pissed than earlier.

"Umm… I'm truly sorry for the last time that I called you a creep. You weren't at fault back then, it was all me. So please forgive me!" She tried to ignore his sullen look and sincerely apologized to him.

"Hmm… I did not expect such maturity from a child, but I'm glad to see that you still have manners." He spoke in an arrogant manner and Lina put on a forced smile on her face.

'I know that I was being childish back then but who the hell is he to call me a child!' She was ready to give him a piece of her mind but then reminded herself to stay calm.

'Be the bigger person, Nana.' She remembered her mother's words and decided to let him off this time.

"Your parents must have taught you well." He continued and Lina's forced smile transformed into a genuine one.

"That's for sure." She nodded her head and happily agreed.

'He isn't that bad. But it's time to leave.' She thought as she glanced at her watch.

"Well, I better get back to my friends." Lina waved at him and without waiting for his reply, she walked past him.

"Wait…!" Lina heard him call out to her and she slowly turned around.

She looked at him questioningly and heard him clear his throat.

'Is he going to ask for my name? So cliche!' She stopped herself from rolling her eyes and waited for him to speak.

"Don't you want to know what my name is? and who I am?" He looked down at himself and then looked back at her in a confused way.

'That was not in the script! Sheesh… He changed the lines!' She was pleasantly surprised by his question.

Usually, guys would ask for her name and she would subtly reject them by playing the 'I'll tell you if we ever meet again' card.

But this man asked her no such question so Lina was stumped on how to respond.

"Do I need to?" She raised her eyebrows and saw his shocked expression.

'Gotcha sucker! You think you can outsmart Lina Yang! You're too young for that, or should I say TOO OLD for that!' She mentally high-fived herself for that burn and turned away to hide her smirk.

"Hope I see you again, Big fingered creep!" She yelled as she neared the end of the passage where the loud music was heard and eventually disappeared from his sight.

----

When she returned to the booth, she found that Stacy and Aya had both disappeared.

So she sent them a text asking them where they were and waited for them while she emptied the remaining half bottle of tequila.

"Where the hell did you disappear to?" Aya fiercely glared at her.

She flinched when Aya yelled at her, the moment she and Stacy came back.

"Washroom." Lina said as Stacy sat down and Aya followed.

"Why did you not inform us before leaving?" Stacy questioned because she was worried that Lina must have fallen asleep in some corner of the club.

"Oh ho…! So you two even noticed that I was missing? I thought that you would forget about me once you've found each others' tongues." Lina wiggled her eyebrows and teased them.

Aya turned a beet red while Stacy just giggled.

"It was fun kissing a girl for the first time." Stacy exclaimed and got a surprised look from Aya.

"I was your first kiss?" She asked as her eyes glittered.

'Chill Aya, I can see your bunny ears standing straight.' Lina saw her friend's excited face and chuckled.

"I mean my first kiss with a girl." Stacy corrected herself.

"Yeah, we saw you kissing that guy at the bar." Lina so brutally said what Stacy was trying to avoid.

"So Lina? Ever kissed a girl?" Stacy glared at Lina and tried diverting their attention.

"What kissing a girl? I haven't even kissed a guy yet!" She shook her head dejectedly.

"Wanna kiss me?" Stacy scooted close to her and shortened the distance between their faces.

"No thanks. Go kiss her!" Lina pushed Stacy's face away from hers and pointed towards Aya who was enjoying seeing them goof around.

"With pleasure!" Stacy quickly jumped on Aya's lap and started making out once again.

"Pervs!" Though she was cursing them, Lina smiled widely and took pictures of them.

"Stop. clicking. our. pictures!" Stacy spoke while kissing and Lina just laughed.

'Ah, memories!' She exhaled and took a selfie with them kissing in the background.
