Standing Right Next To You Chapter 4

"My watermelon!" Lina muttered.

She looked like a little kitten who was disturbed from her nap. The flight attendant couldn't stop herself from smiling genuinely when she saw Lina like this.

"Miss, we were instructed to wake you up so that you could have your dinner on time. Madam Yang gave us a strict warning not to let you sleep on an empty stomach. Please freshen up so that we can serve you the meal." The flight attendant politely asked.

"How long have I been asleep?" Lina asked the attendant and saw that her name tag read Amy.

"About 5 hours, Miss" Amy replied.

Lina hummed and got up to use the restroom. On the way back she tried looking around to see if she could find big fingers anywhere. But failing to do so she admonished herself.

'Why would you search for big fingers? No, his new nickname is creepy face!'

She felt proud to give him another name which had zero creativity.

'But he did have great fingers. I wish I had taken a picture. Would he agree to that? I'm sure he would be an asshole about it and not agree. I'm sad that I'm gonna miss them! '

Don't get me wrong, Lina isn't a pervert. Well, she is, but that's not the point here.

Now Lina isn't a weirdo like what you're thinking. She just loves beautiful things and looking at them gets her creative juices flowing so that she can create more beautiful jewelry.

After all, she had to cater to her consumer's demands.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, Lina designs jewelry for a living, among other things. But you'll learn more about her later on.

She sat back down to finish her dinner then started scrolling down her Instagram.

She liked a few pictures, commented on a few then diligently stalked her elder brother's whereabouts. Oh, yea she has a brother who's 3 years older.

Enough about him for now but you'll meet him soon.

She tried to stay awake but soon fell asleep at about 11 PM. Amy provided her with a thick blanket because Lina is very susceptible to catching a cold for the silliest reasons.

This time she slept without any disturbances.

In the middle of the night, she felt cold, frowning she curled up in her seat. But soon she was warm again. Smiling contentedly she continued her sleep.

The next morning at about 7, Amy came to wake her up. Soon she freshened up and sat with Amy talking about how she took such good care of her skin while working on a hectic schedule.

"Oh so sleeping eyemasks with cold gel packs help reduce your puffy eyes when you sleep? I learned something new today." Lina exclaimed.

They exchanged skincare tips while sipping coffee.

When the flight landed she said farewell to Amy promising to try out some of her tips and then tried to look around to find big fingers.

'Looks like he already left.'

Dejected, she got off the flight and moved to get her luggage.

Walking out the airport she saw a familiar face.

Noah with a crying Ian at a distance was waiting for their ride.

She quickly moved forward and after greeting Noah she picked Ian up.

Feeling a known and soothing presence, Ian stopped crying and looked into Lina's eyes with his big black eyes filled with tears.

'Wow, what big eyes!' She thought as she wiped those big fat tears that had just rolled down his eyes.

Looking back at Noah's haggard face like he didn't sleep a wink last night she let out a snicker then stopped when he glared at her.

"What's with the panda eyes? " Lina asked, already knowing what might have happened.

Noah just shook his head then turned to make a call. After coming back he saw a tame Ian playing with Lina while they were sitting on their luggage.

"Little devil, why can't you be so well behaved with your uncle? "

He asked while pinching Ian's cheeks which soon turned red.

"This is why!? " Lina said as she swatted away his hands and rubbed Ian's cheeks to soothe his pain.

Blowing on his hand Noah looked at this new pair of friends begrudgingly.

Soon their car came to pick them up and Ian and Noah said bye to Lina and got in.

Suddenly Noah ran back to her.

Lina looked at him questioning him with her eyes.

He just smiled and handed his phone to her.

"If you won't give me your number how is Ian going to contact you? " He said with a sly smile.

"Oh? Right! Because Ian has a lot of business with me right? " She asked teasingly.

To which Noah's cheeks turned red and let out a cough.

Looking at how cute he looked like a big puppy waiting to be petted by its master after a long day of being alone at home, she smiled and starting typing on his phone.

She entered her contact details and took his as well.

"Well, I'll text you when Ian wants to meet you." Saying so, he ran back to his car.

Lina just stood by the side, laughing and waving her hand looking at the Uncle-nephew pair waving at her through the window.

After a few minutes, an inconspicuous black sedan came to a halt in front of her. The window rolled down and she saw the face she had come here to see.

" Uncle Pat!" She ran to him and jumping into his arms gave him a bear hug.

"Ugh..! Kiddo you aren't as light as you were. Be considerate of these old bones."

He still caught her safely, in fear that she would fall and twirled her around.

"Look at these muscles! and you dare call yourself old?" She said looking him up and down.

Patrick Yang was 47 years old but still knew how to take good care of himself. He had the salt and pepper neatly trimmed haircut. The gold frame glasses on the bridge of his big nose gave him the serious guy vibe which was a total opposite of his personality.

Letting out a laugh he led her towards the car and asked the driver to start the car.

"I missed you so much! How's everyone else?" She asked after they were seated in the car and the driver started driving.

"Same as always. Just a few extra flies at home this time." He said as his face changed.

"Yea I heard. Don't worry I won't leave anyone who bullies my Uncle Pat!" She declared. Slightly excited for the drama that she's gonna face at home.

"Yes, my kiddo loves me the most!" He patted her head lovingly.

"Sorry uncle Pat, you know that seat is already reserved." She shrugged her shoulders at him.

"I know that you're a big daddy's girl but come on, I'm sure I'm #2 right? " He asked. Knowing too well what her answer would be, but a man could hope.

" Nah, that's big bro Wind's space. No entry. " She made an X with her fingers. She giggled looking at him dejected face.

'Enough teasing. He looks like he'll cry soon. ' she hid her sly smile.

" But Uncle Pat you are my most fave uncle in the world. I would hang out with you any day. You know that right?" She said while she pulled on his cheeks.

He broke out into a big smile and pulled her cheeks back.

"Brat still the same after all these years."

"Forever" She declared and they both started laughing.

They soon reached Yang Manor. The path to the manor had green shrubs on both sides. It was a European style manor with a fountain with two cherubs dancing in them.

'Look at those big buns these little angels have! Will my babies also have such cute buns?' She wondered and giggled like a little girl.

"You laugh every time you see the fountain. What's so funny about it? " Patrick enquired.

"Secret!" As she made a sign of sealing her lips and walked to the main door.

As they entered, the place looked silent and empty. Only a few servants rushing around to prepare breakfast.

"Looks like a few things have changed her." She turned to look at her Uncle Pat.

"Sure has. I'll fill you in later." He gave the luggage to a servant who took it to her room.

Still jetlagged she decided to skip breakfast and get back to sleep.

"Kiddo, your bedroom is still intact. Go look around and get some rest. I'll wake you up for lunch. Maybe you can see those flies then." Patrick Yang said as he made an annoyed face.

"That would be fun. Okay, my shoes are killing me! I want to get out of them." She said as she started walking up the stairs to the second floor where her room was located.

As she reached her room she turned and said "Bye" to her uncle.

Saying so she walked into her room and Patrick Yang towards his block of the manor.

Entering her room she found everything was the same way she had left them. Without wasting much time to reminisce about the good old days.

She just washed up, changed into clean Pj's and jumped onto her bed.

After sending a text to her parents about her safe arrival, she dozed off.
