Standing Right Next To You Chapter 3

After boarding the flight, Lina walked to her seat and sat down after taking off her jacket. She placed it on the vacant seat next to her and took out her big geeky reading glasses and her tablet. Bunching up her long hair into a rough and messy bun she switched on the tablet and looked at the time, 11:45 AM.

'Might as well get some work done during this flight. Hopefully, I'll be able to complete my project in these 20+ hours.'

She set a goal for herself but soon her thoughts started wandering about. Playing around with the stylus in her hand, she wondered.

'Why are flights so long? I wish we had those instant transmission arrays like in those Xianxia novels. One second here and in the next second on the other side of the planet. Easy transport! I wonder if I could survive if I got transmigrated into a xianxia novel? What type of body would I get transmigrated into? What would I do then? Hmmm... I would most probably join a… '

She caught herself before she drifted too far off into her fantasy land.

'Lina Yang! Come on, you have to finish this collection before you get off this flight! No more distractions now. Ganbatte!!'

She patted her cheeks hard and cheered for herself. Then rubbed her slightly red cheeks while pouting, the result of her enthusiasm.

Putting on her headphones and turning up the volume she got into her serious work mood.

Humming an off-tune song, her hand flew across the screen. Very soon the picture of a beautiful tulip was produced.

Satisfied with the results she decided to take a break.

'Damn I'm getting old, my fingers started cramping so soon.' She shook her hands vigorously trying to release the tension in them. Then went back to work.

Very soon an exquisite pair of earrings were drawn on the screen with the elaborate design of a blooming purplish-blue tulip on them.

"The Queen of the Night" She muttered. She had always loved how the flower could capture the different shades of purple, maroon and blue. Almost making it look like black at times.

Content with how the pair of earrings looked, taking off her glasses she smiled.

'Ahh, the last thing to do.'

She then signed her initials *LY* in a beautiful font at the bottom corner of the screen then saved the file.

She stretched her arms then reached for her neck and started massaging it.

She turned her neck side to side to loosen the tight muscles in her next. She looked to her right then turned to her left and then stopped her movements when she found someone staring at her.

The man was standing right behind her and looking at her and her work. With his dark brown eyes, he looked into her hazel eyes and they both just froze.

She looked over his face to find his features very appealing to her aesthetics.

Long nose, pink juicy lips and that chin which looked like it was chiseled by a sculptor. That minute mole below his lip made his face look little evil. Like an office worker in the day but a gangster in the night vibe.

Her gaze moved down to his hands and saw him wipe his hands dry with a grey handkerchief.

'Wow! How can someone look so good coming out of the washroom? Look at those long bony fingers! Yumm..'

She heard him clear his throat and looked up again to see his eyebrow raised and a smirk on his lips.

She woke up from her daze as she realized that she had been staring at him. She let out an awkward cough and looked around not meeting his eyes.

'Stupid finger fetish! How could I so openly check him out? Where's your dignity, Nana? Now he knows!! Look at that creepy smile on his face. He looks so proud.'

Trying to salvage her situation she rolled her eyes at him then muttered the word "creep" and looked back at her handiwork while trying to ignore his presence.

What she didn't notice was the smile freezing on his face as his eyes darkened.

Because of the loud music playing on her headphones she had just called him a creep loud enough for him to hear.

With his jaw tightening, he narrowed his eyes and stomped his way back to his seat. The air around him was chilling, scaring everyone he passed by.

Not bothering about the guy she had just offended, Lina happily continued working but felt a chill run down her spine. Shivering a little she put on her jacket.

After a couple of hours, the entire set of her blue tulip jewelry collection which comprises of a pair of earrings, a necklace, a ring and a bracelet was ready. She observed them and gave them a few final touches.

Happy to be able to finish her project of the day, she decided to take a much-needed nap. She looked at the time and was shocked that she spent 4 hours working without even a single distraction.

'I'm proud of myself but I'm tired now.'

She put away her tablet and put on her eye mask which read 'Leave me alone' which basically described her mood. Then she drifted away in her sleep.

Lina dreamt about being on a beach with lots of hotties serving her fruits and drinks.

Also that the creep with big fingers was fanning her and looking at her with a subservient smile, unlike that annoying smirk he had shown earlier.

She was about to ask him to feed her the watermelon cubes placed in front of her but found that her beach was slowly disappearing and that smirk on big finger's face was back like he was taunting her.

The next moment she felt someone calling out to her.

"Miss... Miss, please wake up."

Pissed at being woken up from her sleep she glared groggily at the flight attendant who was shaking her shoulder.

Rubbing her eyes and Lina muttered "my watermelon cubes!!" and felt a little sad that she couldn't be served by that big fingered creep.
