The Copy Mage Chapter 193

A true Soul Spirit had two parts, an Innate Ability and some time of spirit.
The Soul Spirits that Damian copied would become Innate Abilities and the spirit that he copied would be consumed by the copy book to form the Innate Ability.
Utsusu would act as the spirit for all of his Innate Abilities, but it wasn't really needed as unless Damian wanted to unleash more power than his body could handle or evolve the Innate Ability, he would be able to do most other things that he needed to independently.
One's Soul Spirit would be found within the dantian and unlike somebody that had an elemental affinity, the Soul Spirit would have some sort of structure and would be more compressed.
Although, just like an elemental affinity user, there would be a storage of energy within the dantian that would flow around the entire body, an Innate Ability user would also have something additional that represented their Soul Spirit, just like Damian's flame.
Damian who was understanding more about cultivation, Soul Spirits and acquiring more knowledge in general had begun differentiating between Innate Abilities and Soul Spirits, as an Innate Ability didn't have a spirit of any sort and was also curious to find out how exactly Clay's ability worked.
Opening the copy book, Damian recognised the first page that had a symbol of the Fire Element along with the Maxwell Fire Soul Spirit and all the skills that he had learnt using that ability.
Looking over to the second page, he saw that it had writing in a similar layout to that of the first page.
The Earth Element was represented by a small rock symbol and the Innate Ability listed below it was the Earth Manipulation Ability that was also stated to be E:1 Ranked.
Since all the Soul Spirits were split into categories, Damian was wondering whether or not he could fuse Innate Abilities that were in the same category or use two different abilities at once.

As far as he knew, that was possible with his infinite potential, Changeable Energy and great perceptivity, but he was far away from achieving it and needed to work on his control over all types of energy before attempting to do so.
Now that he had two E:1 Ranked Soul Spirits, not only was he more powerful and versatile when it came to combat, his overall talent grading had increased slightly along with his body's and durability.
However before he even felt the effects of permanently copying a Soul Spirit, Damian had to activate it and without hesitating or delaying it any longer, he did so.
Upon activating it, Damian felt an unusual energy flow around his body as his clear Changeable Energy, become brown, rather than the red that he was used to when he would use Fire Energy.
He also felt something appear within his dantian, but it wasn't the red and golden flame that he was used to, but was a brown gem.
The brown gem harmonised with his body, and since it was an Innate Ability without a spirit, handed over all of its power and control over to Damian.
He also felt his body ache slightly and felt that his body was being burdened and shocked by the new powerful Innate Ability that he had activated, but after circulating his energy and relaxing his body, the pain began to subside.
The Monkey Beast was still watching Damian closely and had completely forgotten about the food behind it as it observed the changes in Damian's body and recognised what had activated as the same ability of the royal academy student.
It was amazed and grabbed some food from behind it, while keeping its eyes glued on Damian and watching what he was going to do next.

Damian placed his palms on the ground, just like he had seen Clay do, and instantly felt a connection with the ground and felt as though his mind could communicate with it.
It was an unexplainable feeling, but it was amazing and it was almost as though the ground was willing to bend to his will as long as he provided with enough energy and had good enough control.
"Rock Spike" shouted Damian as he attempted to produce a spike out of the ground.
He streamed lots of Earth Energy that he had circulating around his body, from his palms into the ground and there was a faint, brown glow around his palms, just like there was around Clay, but he didn't pay much attention to it.
Along with that, he focused on where he wanted the spike to appear and how tall and sharp he wanted the spike to be, but he found that it was much more difficult than he expected and he was only able to form a small bump in the ground.
It wasn't that Damian's energy reserves were lacking, but it was that his control and understanding over the Innate Ability were very limited and he required more practice.
But despite that, he was still amazed by how useful the ability was and the Monkey Beast was also shocked to see that Damian really was able to use the same ability as the royal academy student they had faced previously.
[These are the kind of Soul Spirits I like. The one's that aren't restricting and are very versatile, but they require more time to master and are more difficult to control. However, for me, that isn't an issue] said Damian to himself, believing in his quick learning speed and perceptivity.
Without wasting any time, he began repeatedly practising and using the Earth Manipulation Innate Ability that he copied from Clay and would only stop to eat some beast meat and recover his energy storages.
Damian's progress speed was alarming and he continued learning from his mistakes and would improve slightly after every use of the ability.
After the Monkey Beast had eaten its fill, it began jumping around the area surrounding Damian and was used as a target for him to practise with and half a day passed in the blink of an eye.
