The Copy Mage Chapter 187

Damian spread out his spiritual sense as he prepared to fight whatever creature it was that defeated all the beasts around him, but he couldn't sense anything and after a while relaxed since the beasts seemed to have been taken down quite a long time ago.
"Just how deeply asleep was I? It was good for my recovery, but I can't believe that this much destruction occurred while I was asleep" muttered Damian to himself as he wondered whether the small, cute monkey that clung to his arm had anything to do with it.
He realised that he had underestimated just how much the smell of blood and cooked beast meat would attract beasts and also overestimated the safety of being high up in a tree, but he was still curious as to what had happened while he had been asleep.
[Utsusu, you must have seen what happened. What or who was it that protected me while I was asleep?] asked Damian within his mind.
{Well you slept for over 12 hours and it didn't take long for hungry and wild beasts to come out in the night and were attracted by the smell of cooked beast meat and blood, just like you would expect. But that little creature on your arm protected you from harm's way and fought dozens of beasts on its own while making sure that none of them got close to you} revealed Utsusu.
{For the foreseeable future, it is unlikely that it will be able to fight after pushing itself last night, but I now agree with you that the beast is trustworthy and because of it, I wasn't forced to have to rely on any risky abilities} added Utsusu.
Damian didn't care that the Monkey Beast wasn't able to fight and felt nothing but awe and gratitude to the Monkey Beast as he pulled it off his arm and set it on the ground before gathering firewood from nearby.

"If I was able to fight with my full power, I wonder if I could beat that beast and I still don't understand why it is so loyal and attached to me"
Starting to cook the beast meat from all the dead beast bodies around him, Damian prepared three piles for the Monkey Beast that was still sleeping.
It was drooling at the smell of the cooked beast meat, but was still asleep and despite not suffering injuries, seemed to be very weak and tired.
One pile was of waste, the second of beast cores and the third of cooked beast meat.
After cooking beast meat with his flames and the fire that he was sustaining with the firewood he had gathered, he walked over to the Monkey Beast and gently began to shake it to wake up.
The cute Monkey Beast rolled over and slowly opened its bright orange eyes as it smiled after seeing Damian smiling at it.
"You really are one unusual beast, but from now on we are friends and as thanks for protecting me, I have prepared a feast," said Damian as he picked up the weak Monkey Beast and showed it the three large piles.
It had taken him a long time to prepare it, but he didn't regret doing so in the slightest as it would repay the Monkey Beast, feed him and not waste the bodies of all the beasts that the Monkey Beast had taken down.
The Monkey Beast in Damian's hands was barely able to move, but at the sight of the three piles, it was struggling to escape from his hands and begin eating on the feast that Damian had prepared.
"Calm down, you can eat as much as you can," said Damian as he placed him in front of the three piles.

It crawled on all fours like a toddler and headed towards the pile of beast cores as it began crunching on them and swallowing a few of them whole as if they were merely fruit.
Damian was amazed by how many beast cores the Moneky Beast was able to consume without suffering any damage as beast cores were incredibly durable in terms of material, and also stored a lot of energy that was hard to restrained and was accompanied by impurities.
But the Monkey Beast's body couldn't be compared to that of a human and after seeing everything that it could do, it couldn't be compared to that of a beast either.
It surpassed all logic limits that Damian could think of, but he was glad that it had chosen to protect and side with him as Damian began eating some beast meat before cultivating.
He was hungry after all the beast meat he had eaten previously being used by his body to recover his injuries, muscle fatigue and internal energy storages, and there was more than enough beast meat for the Monkey Beast to eat, so Damian didn't feel guilty while eating it.
After he ate his fill, he began cultivating and aiding his recovery, while also stabilising his body and changeable energy that had grown more hungry and seemed to be calling at him to consume more energy and everything around him.
{Damian, that beast has chosen to stay by your side after somehow being able to see or sense that your destiny is incredible. It is a smart decision to make and it will aid you greatly as that beast is no ordinary beast that you are very lucky to have come across, while your body is starting to evolve. Although your destiny is incredible and your potential limitless, as you have seen, you are still merely a weak child} stated Utsusu, before pausing to allow what he said to sink in.
{But it is time to change that. As you are now, that royal academy student would be able to defeat you, but your body is beginning to evolve and adapt to the changes that the copy book and changeable energy are implementing. Your mind and soul are also improving and you should start with permanently copying the Soul Spirit of that royal academy student, before the traces of the Soul Spirit in his blood are gone, then I will begin giving you tips and hints} continued Utsusu.
