The Copy Mage Chapter 185

"Wake up Damian, you are in serious danger!" screamed Utsusu within Damian's mind.
However, no matter how hard he tried, it was to no avail as a few beasts climbed up the large tree that Damian was resting at near the top of.
The beasts that were able to climb up the tree, included two large cat beasts and a few bear beasts, which were the most common types of beasts in the beast woods.
Humans had quite a distinct scent and presence to beasts that were relatively easy for them to sense, especially when one wasn't making their presence or moving.
Damian was merely a sitting duck who was waiting to be eaten by the beasts, that had mutually agreed that the human should be eliminated before they fought between themselves.
Utsusu didn't know what to do and all the ideas he had to get Damian out of the situation he was in required Damian to be conscious since he was merely a spirit that accompanied his ability.
{Damn it, is it really the end already. It is such a waste of talent and potential} said Utsusu that couldn't think of a safe way to save Damian, who had completely shut down.
As the beasts neared the branch that Damian stood on, Utsusu resigned to what seemed to be fate, since there seemed to be no way to get out of it.
The Monkey Beast that was in Damian's arms began to move and it had an angry expression on its face as it suddenly jumped out of Damian's arm and transformed into its larger form.
Utsusu was about to stop watching what was happening around Damian, but suddenly sensing a weird accumulation and use of energy that it had never sensed before, it paid attention to see the furious Monkey Beast.

Its muscles were large, and brimming with power, while its bright orange eyes appeared like blazing flames in the night sky as it turned towards Damian.
{Don't tell me the beast has gone wild, it seems that Damian's situation has gotten even worse. I guess there was no way out any way, so there is no need for me to tell him I told you so}
{I really didn't want to have to do this, but it seems that I will have no choice but to sacrifice Damian's health and cultivation in order to get him out of this situation, which he might not even be able to recover from} said Utsusu.
Utsusu couldn't take control of Damian's body, but it could assist and manipulate the flow of energy within his body.
Despite that, it wasn't enough in the current situation and he would have to overwhelm Damian's body with the power of the copy book to grant him great power for a short period of time and awaken him, but cause his body and cultivation a lot of damage.
Damian's mind, soul and body needed to become much stronger to even handle a percentage of the power of the copy book that had infinite potential, and if Utsusu was to forcefully draw out that power, it would cause an extreme and irreversible backlash.
It nearly occurred when Damian was about the be struck by the rock spike before the Monkey Beast saved him and from the furious expression of the Monkey Beast, it didn't seem to have any intention of saving Damian.
However to Utsusu's surprise, when the Monkey Beast turned to face Damian's unconscious body, it had a softer, caring and worried expression, which was completely unexpected from a beast and no matter how hard he thought about it, Utsusu couldn't understand anything about the Monkey Beast.

{If this beast protects Damian, it will be a big help and will save Damian from needing to suffer such damage and forcefully regain consciousness, which may take him years to recover from and even then he might not regain his current progress rate and potential. It would also waste his peak years, but is this beast really that loyal to Damian} said Utsusu.
The spirit within Damian's mind was ready to force Damian to regain consciousness and draw out the power of the copy book to save his life, which it was only going to do if there was no chance of Damian surviving.
While on high alert and watching everything that was occurring, even Utsusu was shocked by the Monkey Beast's roar of fury as its bright orange eyes glowed and scanned the area around it.
There were dozens of capable and powerful beasts that were all waiting for the chance to consume the human, or consume each other, while there were a few that had climbed up to the branch that they stood on and faced the Monkey Beast.
Although beasts weren't as intelligent as humans, they weren't completely unable to think or reason, which was why they were shocked and baffled by the sight of a beast protecting a human.
They weren't bound to each other and most beasts, unless they were raised and tamed by a human from when they were a cub, would never be completely loyal to humans.
The hate between almost all humans and beasts was very hard to overcome, and yet the Monkey Beast that had only come across Damian twice was putting itself on the line to save Damian a second time.
If Damian were to see what was occurring he would feel two things and would be completely shocked.
The first thing he would feel was gratitude and most of his doubts about the Monkey Beast would be gone, since it protected him despite him being unconscious and completely vulnerable.
The second thing he would feel was reverence and confusion as the Moneky Beast's power was able to single-handedly overwhelm dozens of beasts that ranged from rank 3 to rank 5 and it was even able to take down a rank 6 beast all while protecting Damian and fighting alone.
Utsusu, who was watching everything, no longer knew what the think about the Monkey Beast that was able to face so many beasts without suffering a single wound, as it reverted back to its smaller form and cuddled up in Damian's arms after the danger was gone.

The Fall of The Gods
Synopsis: In the year 1966, an army of Orishas led by Sango stormed Amadioha’s palace and razed it the ground, starting a decades-long war between two of Nigeria’s most powerful divine orders. Blinded by the rage of battle, the gods did not detect the rise of a third power, far greater and deadlier than anything they could have imagined. When gods, on both the Yoruba and Igbo sides, begin falling mysteriously to their death, Sango seeks the help of Odion, a Lagos teenager destined to rise from his dark past to become a hero. But can a human hero save the gods from a doomed fate? The Fall of the Gods is an action-packed YA fantasy based on the mythical bond that ties human life with the realm of the divine. It demonstrates the power of stories to change our lives. It also reminds us that Sango and Amadioha are not relics of the past and that, sometimes, what it means to be a hero in today’s world is knowing how to find inspiration in the stories of the gods. PLEASE NOTE: Weekly chapters will be released every friday along with interludes once in a while about Nigerian mythology. I'm a young 17 year old writer and I am new to the site so I will appreciate your comments and reviews. Thank you very much.
