The Copy Mage Chapter 99

Damian couldn't help but wonder what the next cultivation level was and how it was like, but he decided against procrastination and wanted to actively search for answers instead of passively wondering what they were.
He knew that from his master's words, that there was still so much that him and everyone around him were ignorant to, but the desire to find out the truth was only pushing him to increase his strength even more.
"Master, who is Ivan?" asked Damian who had spotted him as he was carried away by his master and was curious as to who he was after how weird he acted.
"Yes, it seems that he does have an eye on you doesn't he. He is a scout that was sent from an organisation that is outside this country, and they are all around the country in all different schools and places looking for young talents to take back with them to nurture. If you have a high talent grade and Soul Spirit grade they will target you, and they will assist you until eventually taking you back with them" answered his master who didn't see the information as a secret and answered Damian's question honestly.
"Do I have anything to worry about and will he kidnap me?" asked Damian who thinking about Ivan's power knew that he had no way to resist.
"Don't worry he won't act yet and he won't force you to do anything. It will be you that will seek him or anybody else that is outside the country looking for opportunities outside of the country after your strength and knowledge reaches a certain level and just like the rest of the young talents that have left the county, it is inevitable that you will leave and seek another organisation to join. Those that stay within this small country are those that have settled here and want to be comfortable in a small country, rather than pushing themselves in the outside world. Or those that can't leave even if they wanted to because they are too weak or untalented to do so" stated his master.

Damian knew that his master was right and there wasn't much that he was leaving behind, but one thing he was sure of, he wanted the people that he cared about to be near him so that he could always be there to help and support them, while they could also do the same thing for him.
"Master can I get a skill from the F Rank Skill Library as I couldn't understand or use the skill that I acquired previously" requested Damian.
Damian knew what kind of skill he was looking for. He had a movement skill and had a few offensive skills that he could use with the Maxwell Fire Soul Spirit, but what he didn't have was a weapon that he could use.
After seeing how incredible Darren was in the use of a sword and how much of an advantage it was to have a weapon, Damian wanted to learn how to use a weapon to increase his overall capability as a cultivator.
"That is unfortunate, and I can allow you to choose a skill. However, I cannot allow you to take the skill out of this library building as you have not purchased the skill and haven't been given it by the academy either" stated his master.
"That won't be an issue" replied Damian who was smiling to himself remembering that Utsusu could copy books into the small library that he had formed within his mindscape.
His master led him to the F Rank Skill Library, and now that he was publically his direct disciple, he could openly assist him and treat him better than other students without it being called unfair.
"What are you looking for in particular," asked his master.
"I have many offensive skills with my Pyro Soul Spirit and have the fundamental reinforcement skill along with a movement burst skill. However, I feel like I am lacking when it comes to the use of weaponry and I want to increase the range and variations of my attacks and capabilities" answered Damian.

"So you are looking for a weapon, but it seems you are already quite skilled in close and mid-range combat with your current skill set. If you want to be an all-round powerful and skilled cultivator you should also become proficient in long-range combat and the perfect weapon for that is a bow" suggested his master.
"Yes that would be the perfect option for me currently and would also allow me to cover all ranges of combat" stated Damian agreeing with his master's suggestion.
With a bow, he would be able to release fast and powerful attacks from a distance to weaken his opponent and if he used the Shadow Element, he would be faster than an opponent at the same level as him and could continue to avoid them.
It was the perfect option for him currently, but Damian knew he had his work cut out for him as he had never used or practised with a bow in his life and it was quite a difficult weapon to learn and wield.
"So first you will need to practise and become proficient in the use of a bow, but while we are here we can pick out a suitable bow skill that you can attempt to learn and take basic concepts and fundamentals before your training begins, which you can then gradually continue to learn" stated his master as he led him to the section with weapon skills.
Damian hadn't checked here before as he wasn't looking for a weapon skill when he was given the opportunity to choose a skill from the F Rank Skill Library the first time.
Looking through the skills, Damian didn't allow the grade of the skills to sway him and was looking for a simple but effective skill that he could not only learn, but also build upon.
[Arrow Beam Skill. It is a skill that allows you to form an arrow out of energy, which with my changeable energy would allow me to shoot projectiles of all elemental energy types. It is also simple and effective just like I wanted and can be built upon as I become more knowledgable and is exactly what I was looking for] thought Damian to himself.
"I want this skill" decided Damian.

The Queen's Guard
Friedrich Schreiner is a proud gefreiter of the Queen's Guard, 2nd Company: the finest fighting infantry on the continent (barring the Temple Guard; but please don't bring that up). Service is honourable but, with the Empire on a peacetime footing, terribly boring. Affairs take a dramatic turn for the worse when a mysterious invader uses a forgotten and taboo magical means to breach the capital, plunging the nation into chaos and endangering the royal family. With events spiraling out of control, Friedrich is entrusted with a critical mission. Will hot lead, cold steel, and his determination be enough to see him through? The Queen's Guard is what I'm calling a black powder fantasy story: it's set in a loose equivalent of the early 18th century (plus or minus a few pieces I decided I wanted or didn't want). Magic exists, but not in a spell-slinging sort of way: it's Earth-shaking undertakings or minor enchantments forged in by master craftsmen, the grand working of a secretive cabal or a slight nudge to the course of a blow. I, the eternal optimist, have a full trilogy in mind. The first book is The Prince's Arquebusier, hence the cover and the title disagreeing! This is my shot at 2021's NaNoWriMo and RR Writathon! I've hitherto been terrible at writing long-form fiction, so this is an effort to break out of that by having some accountability in being supposed to post chapters regularly. Here's hoping it works! I have an outline, but not too much detail. I'll do my best to avoid continuity errors, doing anything glaringly stupid, or otherwise fluffing my lines, but I can't make any promises on that. Please do let me know any feedback! Always happy to improve. [participant in the Nov 2021 Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Deviation
There is a place in the far off reaches of space. It is a lonely place in the barest portion at the edge of the universe. There are no stars or other planets for light-years. A region few have ever wanted to visit and fewer still actually have. If you were to visit you'd find and small rip in space-time leading to the most bizarre and out of place thing you have ever seen. A solar system consisting of five planets, all with life, all stuck in conflict, and all absolutely bursting with energy. For some it seems like a paradise. A land of sword and sorcery? Why would anyone pass that up? That was the thought process of the freshly dead boy. This boy, like many before him and many after him, was trying to find the bright side. Things had finally been going right for him, good grades, new friends, and best of all a girlfriend when the entire world ended. No huff, no puff, just poof the end. At least being reborn into this world would be fun. That definitely sounded like a bright side to most. Fracture, one of the five worlds in question, was massive and full of magic. It looked sounded and felt like it would be just another game, it even had prompts and levels. Piece of cake. Well that might be the case if Fracture was meant to be a paradise. The hottest fires forge the strongest swords. This fire has the habit of melting away oneself. A pixie clan searching for a new home, a boy who just lost his, a reality bending forest, and a bug that doesn't belong. All with an intense desire for power. Who will make it through the fire intact, and will they choose to be a hero, or will they join the long history of villains and monsters?

Most villains, no matter how terrifying, are defeated by a hero on the first try.
