The Copy Mage Chapter 83

As soon as the Shadow Energy was within 1 metre of himself, Damian attempted to control the energy.
But after attempting to do it for a long time previously, he had learnt that force didn't work with the evasive Shadow Element and he had to slowly draw it in, instead of attempting to forcefully subdue it and pull it into his body.
He needed to become one with the Shadow Element for the Shadow Energy to enter his body, which was why the Shadow Kin could effortlessly absorb it and wield it.
As the Shadow Energy neared his body, without attempting to control it and pull it into his body, he continued to use his magnetism and allow to flow through him.
Damian patiently attracted the Shadow Energy into his body, and as soon as it entered his body, he flowed it around and into his changeable energy.
Swallowing up the Shadow Energy with his own changeable energy, in a similar way to how he absorbed Milo's energy, Damian finally managed to absorb the Shadow Energy.
He could feel the energy within his changeable energy, then attempted to transform all his energy to match that small trace of Shadow Energy.
It was a weird sensation as he felt his changeable energy become dark and eerie.
As the energy flowed around his body, Damian didn't feel familiar with or recognise the foreign feeling.
[This must be Shadow Eneregy] thought Damian to himself as he observed the energy that his changeable energy had transformed into.
It gave him a weird feeling of darkness that he couldn't describe, and it was very different to the scorching and explosive feeling that Fire Energy gave him.
After successfully managing to absorb the Shadow Element and transform his energy to match it, Damian was overjoyed as he jumped up in joy.

Milo was too concentrated to see Damian, who was elated, as he sat on the ground and circulated the Shadow Energy around his body.
Following the same method that he used to activate the Flame Reinforcement Skill, Damian attempted to activate the Shadow Reinforcement Skill as he spread his Shadow Energy around his body, fortifying it.
Instantly as soon as Damian activated the Shadow Reinforcement, he felt a weird unexplainable feeling all around his body as his body also felt lighter.
"Incredible" uttered Damian in awe of the sensation he was feeling all around his body.
He felt as though his weight had been halved, as he also felt that the light that illuminated into the room was weakening his body, while the areas that were void of light would strengthen his body.
Damian walked over to the edge of the training room, and ran towards the other side at his full speed, wanted to test out how much faster he was in the Shadow Reinforced Form.
He managed to cover the 10 metres within a few seconds, as his body that felt lighter was also easier to move and moved slightly faster than it did before.
His speed had been enhanced by the Shadow Reinforcement, but he felt that it wasn't as simple as that and there was still more that the Shadow Reinforcement was capable of, that he didn't know how to use yet.
Utsusu observing his host was once again shocked by Damian's unnatural talent in wielding energy and using it through skills.
He was able to sense and wield a new element, that was incredibly difficult to learn how to do within years, within an hour, while he also formed his own method to be able to subdue the energy that was different to other elemental energies.

But he didn't stop there and managed to reinforce his body using the energy on his first try, despite never previously wielding that type of energy before that moment.
[My speed has increased without yet learning the Shadow Speed Technique, and this Shadow Reiforcement Form seems to have other applications that I am yet to learn about] observed Damian as he felt a weird feeling within his body and the shadows around him that he didn't understand.
By activating the Shadow Reinforcement, he was replicating a state similar, but inferior, to the existence of the Shadow Kin, but he was yet to reach a state that allowed him to entwine his body with the element.
However, for the short amount of time he had spent trying to do so, he was extremely successful and talented in doing so.
Damian couldn't help but smile, proud of his achievement as he began aligning the weird sensation was feeling with the Shadow Steps Skill.
From what he read, the weird feeling that he was experiencing, was his body sensing and harmonising with the shadows around him.
Damian didn't feel anything like that while using his Flame Reinforcement, but he could tell that the Flame Reinforcement was different and he was yet to truly explore wielding Fire Energy and Pyro Mage Skills.
The Shadow Speed Technique was a technique that allowed him to increase his speed by a percentage, that depended on how much energy he was willing to expend while using the technique.
To use it he needed to have the Shadow Reinforcement Skill activated, which required energy to sustain, and also expended large amounts of energy to use.
It had the potential to double his total movement speed, but he would only be able to sustain that speed for a minute at most, and it was recommended that he increased his speed by 20%, others it would be extremely difficult to sustain for long periods of time.
Unlike what one would expect, it wasn't a skill that improved Damian's body, but used the shadows around his body and beneath his feet to increase his movement speed.
However, even Damian with his incredible talent and perceptivity couldn't use it on his first try and couldn't manipulate the shadows around him to enhance his speed like the method described.
He would need to practice and improve his ability to wield Shadow Energy, while also increasing the amount of energy he had in order to be able to sustain the technique for longer periods of time.
He had so much to train and do, and he had the time and methods to do them.
All that was left was for Damian to practice his skills while also making sure to cultivate.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
