The Copy Mage Chapter 78

After a few hours, Damian suddenly jumped up after regaining consciousness.
While he was unconscious, Utsusu absorbed energy into Damian's body as he attempted to recover his energy and if it wasn't for that, Damian could have been severely affected by the rapid siphoning of his energy.
[What happened] asked Damian as he felt extremely sluggish and tired.
{I am not sure, but when you streamed your changeable energy into the skill book, it suddenly began sucking in your energy like a leech and your body lost conscious from the shock and exhaustion of energy} explained Utsusu as what had happened returned to Damian's mind.
Looking over to the black skill book, it looked exactly the same as it did before, but Damian felt a slight attraction towards it as if his body was longing to hold it.
But despite that attraction, Damian was wary to touch it incase in syphoned his energy again and used his bed covers to open the book.
As soon as he opened it he felt something suddenly jolt into his mind.
As that happened, Damian felt as though he was transported into another location, but his body was still on his bed.
"Where am I" he mumbled to himself as he looked around himself to find that he was in a dark place and in front of a large castle that was surrounded by enormous walls.
"How are you a human. What is going on" exclaimed a humanoid creature that approached him.
Its body was the same size and shape as an ordinary adult male human, but his skin was completely pitch black along with its eyes that were both completely black.
Everything about the humanoid creature was dark and scary as Damian stumbled backwards, afraid of the being before him.
"There is no need to worry. I am just the fragment of a soul and can't harm you. But I must ask how are you compatible with the Shadow Kin's skills" asked the figure as he observed Damian's body closely with a baffled expression as if he was the one that was weird.

"Shadow Kin. I don't know what that is" uttered Damian who was struggling to speak his words to the weird creature before him.
"Humans are so annoying. I told you I can't harm you, yet you are still afraid" muttered the figure as he pulled up Damian's body.
"This is merely a projection of your soul and can't sustain any permanent damage, so there is nothing to worry about" reassured the humanoid creature as he began analysing Damian's body.
Damian was completely baffled by what was going on, but what he did know was that the creature before him was asking about his unique changeable energy, and he was debating with himself whether to answer or not.
"What are you and where am I," asked Damian as he regained composure after being reassured of his safety by the being before him, that didn't seem to have malicious intentions towards him.
"Well, I am of the Shadow Kin, which is a race just like humans and beasts are and we are in the Shadow Realm, where the Shadow Kin used to reside" answered the being.
"From how long my soul fragment has laid dormant within this skill book, it has been millennia since the Shadow Kin existed and we were all wiped out. I was the king of the Shadow Kin and before I died I managed to split my soul into fragments that all resided within a skill book that held the fundamental skills and methods of the Shadow Kin" stated the Shadow Kin King.
"The skill and method books were indestructible no matter how much they tried to destroy them and as a safety precaution, to make sure that my soul segments could never be gathered to reform my soul, they were spread around the cosmos" he continued.
"So how am I able to understand you if I cannot understand the writing within the skill book," asked Damian curiously as he attentively listened to what the being before him was saying to him.

He completely believed what the Shadow Kin King had told him up until that point, as it matched everything he had experienced up until that point, but even if he didn't, he had no way to prove it.
"It is simple. In these forms that you can think of as soul forms, we are both understanding each other through the intent behind our words that are translated to each other in a language that is native to us" explained the Shadow Kin King.
"Now for you to answer my question" stated the Shadow Kin King.
Damian didn't see any harm of revealing his secret unique energy to an already deceased being and it was only fair that he also revealed some information in return.
"I have a special type of energy called changeable energy that from what I know, only I have and it allows my energy to be able to change to match any element" answered Damian.
"No wonder you were compatible with our skills. Your energy is very similar to and can replicate the Dark Shadow Energy that is unique to our Shadow Kin Race, and with it, you will be able to use all of our skills and methods that use that Dark Shadow Energy" mumbled the Shadow Kin King to himself.
"Where did you acquire that energy from and do you know of your parents," asked the Shadow Kin King, who was curious about Damian's origin.
"I do not know of my parents, but I acquired this after I awakened my Soul Spirit" answered Damian.
The Shadow Kin King was baffled by what a Soul Spirit was and after Damian explained to him what it was, he couldn't help but laugh.
"You measly humans have always been like this. Evolving slightly and giving the mutations grand names that do not suit its insignificant power" mocked the Shadow Kin King as he burst out into laughter.
But as he was laughing, his form was suddenly beginning to fade.
