Her Tempestuous Villain Chapter 37

It took Sunye her entire willpower to keep her temper under control. Usually, she was quite affable and emotionless when it came to dealing with people to the point that a lot of her colleagues thought she was a cold hearted person.
In many ways, she was. Unresponsive, aloof and non-intrusive were her traits because she believed that as long as something was not vital to her cases, she would ignore it. Which is why she blocked away everyone else in her mind, only caring about her own business. Not that she had much business to attend to in her free time.
SD, however, was an exception.
Her temper rose every time she thought about that man. She cursed the day of her law school graduation. Why did she end up meeting the wolf in sheep's clothing?
And seeing herself in the mirror only made her blood boil even more.
"Fuck that guy!" she cursed. He had sent her the skimpy clothes and to her horror, she looked like some sort of kinky role player in a sultry school uniform! Wherever he was taking her, was not going to be a pleasant place to go and she regretted taking his help.
But even SD had some rules for himself which he surprisingly followed. He claimed that he was open to requests from all sorts of clients, shady or not but he refused to trade information on any minors.
Moreover, Sunye had heard a rumor once that someone once hired him to keep an eye on a woman. The client who put in the request was a stalker who wanted to make sure the woman was not seeing anyone, leaving him to pursue her against her wishes.
SD seemingly did as he was told but then the woman went to the police station and filed a complaint against the client after an anonymous tip about his harassment. She gave the evidence of how the man had taken inappropriate pictures of hers and also possessed videos of her in the shower. The police arrested the man and he was convicted. Sunye had heard from the other lawyers that the information broker the man had hired, returned the money to his account.

When Sunye asked SD about his involvement, he simply shrugged and replied, "Just because there's some ice in hell doesn't mean the fire isn't gonna burn ya."
I would definitely set him up on fire but he'd probably turn it into a perverted fantasy, she thought in disgust. The crop top he got for her was too short. It barely covered her chest and left her flat stomach wide open. The skirt was also tiny and she wanted to wince. Her embarrassment was increasing and she wanted to bury SD alive into the ground for making her wear such cheap clothes!
Her doorbell rang but she did not bother to open it. She knew very well that no doors in the world would keep SD away and just like she predicted, he was tying in her passcode to enter her house.
"Sunye!" he called out in his annoying singsong tone as he shamelessly strode into her living room. "Your knight in shining armor is here!"
"You're more like the Wicked Witch of the West!" he heard her yelling from her bedroom. "Don't you dare enter my room!"
"I'd rather enter your bed but if you say so!"
She threw a series of unladylike curses at him but he sat on her couch. Crossing his legs in an elegant manner, he was patiently waiting for her while trying to imagine her look of embarrassment once she put on the clothes he sent her. He was not particularly happy about making her wear those but the man they were about to meet that night was inclined towards sexy women.
And it was vital for them to distract him so that SD could fulfill his mission.
He took out an envelope from his pocket and read its contents. It was the same paper he had collected from President RIhan's office. The document in it gave details on a gold trade route which was being used to fund the Company. The gold was sourced via the mafia through the north eastern routes. The head of the mafia, Cho Kibum, held the information on the suppliers who were involved in the illegal gold trade and somewhere in that mansion, he held the list.

To get that list, SD needed a muse. And Sunye was the perfect person to lead him there.
He heard the bedroom door open and close. Sunye was nervously walking towards him, pulling her shirt and skirt down as much as she could. It was too revealing for her, exposing her porcelain like skin. She let her hair loose in an attempt to cover her back as much as possible.
To her horror, he was wearing completely normal clothes! He looked dapper in his plain black shirt with the first button undone and he matched it with a pair of black pants. Unlike his daytime properly combed and prim persona, he was more casual with messy hair with bangs which reached till his eye brows, highlighting his striking blue eyes. The first time Sunye had met SD, she actually thought he was breathtakingly handsome.
Her opinion changed the very next day though. SD smirked at the deathly glares she threw at him.
"You really wanna kill me don't ya?" he grinned.
Before she could reply, he suddenly stood up and moved towards her. Sunye was confused when he came to stand in front of her. He was not that close to her but for some reason, she found it hard to breathe whenever he was around her.
"Your collar is undone," he said, fixing her collar. He was careful not to touch her skin but she squirmed a little when she felt his hands fixing her collar. Once he fixed it, SD stepped back to continue grinning at her. He knew how much his smirks irritated her and it was fun to see her boiling in anger like an angry tigress.
"I. Hate. You," she said, enunciating every word.
"I. Know," he said, mimicking her. "Now, let's get going!"
Sunye groaned and put on the jacket she was holding before following him out. They stepped on tot he elevator where she asked, "So what are we going to-"
"Not here, hun," SD warned. He was looking at something above his head and Sunye followed his gaze towards the CCTV camera.
"Why are you looking at that?" she frowned in confusion.
"In my business, we never discuss stuff in a place where it can be recorded," he murmured. "Never leave evidence. That's the rule."
Oh, Sunye realized. She briefly glanced at him. He was now looking straight ahead, still looking smug and haughty. The man may seem carefree and sadistic but Sunye also pitied him a little. For every second of his life, he had to stay on the lookout for enemies and threats. Why he chose such a fate for himself was beyond her comprehension.
"Are you pitying me, Ms. Lawyer?" he asked, reading her mind.
"Yes," Sunye said in a flat tone. "I'd hate to have a life like yours."
He did not look at her when he replied, "And I'd hate to live a life like yours. It's too quiet."
Sunye pursed her lips and once the elevator reached the ground floor, she quickly walked out of the lift and headed for the exit. SD wordlessly brushed past her to bring his car while she waited for him.
As she stood on the steps of her building's entrance, she pondered on his words and surprisingly, she was not angry at him for it.
After all, she also hated her quiet life.

Tales From the Terran Republic
We tried, you know… We really did. We tried so hard to be… better… We actually were better once. No, seriously. We were enlightened, generous, peaceful… Stop laughing! We were! We were peaceful, dammit! No, I’m not “tugging your winglets.” It’s true! Look, if you’re going to be like that, I’ll just push the launch button right now. See ya, don’t wanna be… Oh, you ARE interested after all? Ok. Hey, I just got word that your captain will be ok. We were able to get him into a med pod quick enough… Of course, we tried to save him. Just what sort of people do you think we are?... Now that was harsh… completely accurate, mind you… but harsh. Anyway, like I was saying, we were a prosperous, peaceful people, and war had been nothing but a distant memory for over five hundred years before it happened... Before Yellowstone happened! You don’t mean to tell me that you didn’t know about that… massive supervolcano? Blew the Hell out of our planet? Two years where nothing grew?… Anyway, that’s what started it, the Sol Wars… Oh, you have heard about those, huh? Well, needless to say, all that enlightened, generous, and peaceful didn’t exactly make it through the two years of complete famine and the wars that followed… Maybe it’s more accurate to say the enlightened, generous, and peaceful among us didn’t survive… (laughs)… You’re right. It does explain a lot, doesn’t it? Probably for the best, though. “Enlightened” and “peaceful” aren’t really all that useful out here in the galaxy at large, are they? That reminds me; thanks for the ship. You guys did a great job with this one. Oh, don’t be like that. At least it was us what got you and not one of the really messed groups like the Harlequin or the Black Angels. We’re just going to take your shit. It could be worse… trust me... Well, anyway, we loaded the life pods down with some good food, and you guys can drink alcohol, right? We put in a couple of fifths in there, too. It’s about forty percent ethanol, so be warned. Most species will want to dilute that. We’ll drop your wounded off somewhere safe once they are stable. Your fleet patrols this area fairly regularly, and we’ll drop the distress beacon right before we jump… Well, It’s been fun and no hard feelings, right?… Oh, you want to know some more? Sure. I got time to kill… Let me tell you about this one pirate and her crew. They’re Terran scum, but they are still… Why do we hate the Terrans? Hoo Boy… How much time you got? *** It’s the thirty-second century, and humanity is now part of a galactic civilization comprised of hundreds of worlds. Humanity has been savaged by natural disaster and war and has been fractured into several separate populations, all of which loathe each other (some things never change). This is a gritty drama-driven rambling tale that swings between action, drama, horror, and plenty of very, very dark comedy. Warning: contains adult situations, absolutely horrible language, bathroom humor, implied ultra-violence, actual ultra-violence, drugs, alcohol, pirates, mercs, xeno prostitutes, moral ambiguity, deranged AI's with identity issues, giant commie space slugs, and a poor little frog girl who just wants to sell coffee. Updates twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday. *** Note: This story can get rough. Those warning tags? They aren't for show. I recently received a review and as a result I want to make one thing clear. Portraying something is NOT endorsing it! Many "heavy" topics are touched upon and just because a character says or does something does not imply that the author feels the same way. I selected the "Anti-Hero Lead" and "Villainous Lead" tags for a reason. Rule number one of this story is "no good guys". A good description of the story is, "bad people doing bad things to worse people". There are a few good characters, here and there, but they are the exception to the rule. If you want a hard-hitting, exciting, gritty sci-fi story that doesn't pull any punches, or shies away from "difficult" concepts, welcome! If you are set on a pure and noble knight that runs around and slays conveniently evil monsters and rescues totally innocent princesses... or your sensibilities are easily offended... You're not going to be happy with this one.
