Her Tempestuous Villain Chapter 7

Sunye was walking along the pavement holding a cup of fresh americano. She wore a full black suit with a light beige shirt beneath it along with a pair of gloves on her hands. Her long hair was tied in a ponytail while her face had minimal makeup on it. She held a large briefcase on her other hand and she was making her way towards her office which was set at a tower in the upscale area.

As one of the youngest prosecutors in town, Sunye was known for her hundred percent track record. Working on high profile cases for the past eight years, she had gained reputation as a cutthroat prosecutor, known for cornering her prey in a dangerous mind game. With her no nonsense attitude, Sunye was also one of the most expensive lawyers in the country.

The automated doors slid open as she entered the premises. The building she worked in belonged to H&H Law Firm, one of the top law firms in the country. She had been working with them for the past five years and was their ace lawyer.

The building she worked in was nearly twelve storeys high and was made completely of glass. The sun light came through the glass walls, causing the whole building to sparkle brightly. The temperature inside was also well controlled so she was not bothered about her hypothermia to kick in.

Moreover, she took her medicines regularly and hence, was able to work normally without much worry. Sometimes, she was also able to wear sleeveless clothes if the temperature was warm enough. Her hypothermia was not as bad as it used to be when she was a child but the symptoms still came to effect if she was not careful.

She entered the elevator and pressed the button for the twelfth floor where her office was situated. As soon as she entered, the staff members stood up to greet her. She smiled and politely acknowledged their greetings on her way to her cabin. Once inside her cabin, she buzzed her assistant, Kangmin.

He immediately entered the office.

"Yes madam!" he exclaimed. "You called for me."

Kangmin was a fresh college graduate who was hired by the company. He had a baby like face with large round eyes and dusky hair. In his mid twenties, Kangmin was a new recruit under Sunye's care and sometimes he tested her patience.

Despite his high marks, he was a little clumsy in his work. He sometimes mislabeled the evidence which caused some disturbances but Sunye was somewhat impressed with his diligence and also his tendency to stay out of useless gossip. In his six months as her assistant, he never pried into her nor into other people's private lives, something her old assistant had loved doing. Hence, Sunye kept Kangmin around and despite her strict methods, was mentoring the kid herself.

"Have you read up the file on Doctor Lim Byungsoo?" she asked.

"I-I did!" he squeaked. "The doctor whose patients mysteriously died months after he performed surgery on them and left him all their money!"

"Are you sure you're not reading that off the news reports?" Sunye asked warily.

"No madam!" Kangmin claimed. "I'm not."

Sunye strongly distrusted the media and their reports, knowing fully well that their so-called news was mostly distorted. Reporters had a knack to distort facts and manipulate the public. As a prosecutor, she did not pay heed to what they said and encouraged people working with her to do the same.

"Did you bring the copies of the testimonies made by the victims' families?" she asked in a cool tone.

"I did madam!" he said at once. "But Kim Jaemin's family still did not testify. The officer in charge told me that they will send their statements by today."

"Go down to the police station and wait there until the testimony is complete," Sunye instructed him. "Stay there all night if you have to but bring me their testimony. Understood?"

Kangmin tried not to whimper. Sunye's sharp eyes were gazing at him and he was already very nervous. He was trying not to mess up the case but was already feeling as if he was about to make mistakes.

"Yes ma'am!" he exclaimed before leaving the room.

Sunye shook her head and reverted her attention to her work. There was an envelope on her desk which was marked as 'Private and Confidential'. On it was the logo of LN Partners. She did not bother to open it and threw it aside. She knew very well what the contents were.

For months, LN Partners had been trying to scout her for their firm. Their mysterious CEO, Lee Jonghyun, had personally picked her for his firm but Sunye had refused. She was comfortable with her current job and had no intention to switch. Even though she was always kept busy, the work load helped her to forget a lot of the past memories which she had buried deep inside her. Sometimes, the memories would pop up again and San's handsome face would flash in front of her, his dark eyes twinkling at her with happiness.

But all that was past and San was gone. The person she had cared for the most was gone and would probably never return. Was he even alive? She did not know. But the pain he left behind was still raw. The innocent girl who had once loved him with all her heart and still did, was still yearning to see him.

She sighed and pushed away all those thoughts, concentrating on her work. Thankfully, she did not have any hearings that day but she was still kept busy with the mountain load of cases which was kept on her desk.

"This one is a criminal," she muttered as she read a case about a man who was found near the corpse of his ex-wife. It was obvious that he was the criminal and with no other way out, he wanted to plead insanity. The guy had been pretending to be schizophrenic and refused to have it medically diagnosed. Sunye threw the file in the corner, rejecting the case.

She went on to pick up more files, categorizing the cases in to 'rejected' and 'accepted' based on the evidence provided to her. It was almost evening by the time she was done and she did not notice the time flying away.

She vaguely heard the door open and close, thinking that Kangmin was back. Footsteps approached her way and finally, someone sat on the chair opposite to her.

"Kangmin, did you get the testimony-" she began, looking up and froze.

SD was smirking at her with his devilish grin. His blue eyes sparkled as he eyed her like a child who had found a new toy.

"Hi Sunye," he greeted. "Long time no see."

Sunye was about to pick up her phone to call the security but to her shock, her phone was dead!

"I hacked your phone, dear," SD said, leaning back. He was amused at the lawyer's reaction. "I've been away for so many months and surely, you can say hi to an old friend?"

"What the hell do you want, SD?" she gritted at him.

SD's handsome face broke into a smile.

"You, of course," he stated. "It's time to pay up hun. You owe me."

Sunye let out a sharp breath. This was not going to end well for her.
