Dungeon Reset Chapter 27

Jung Da-woon looked at the message window with a puzzled look on his face.
“Skill Check.”
Purification (Low-Grade Level 7)
Earth Lump (MASTER)
Vigor of the One-Horned Boar (Level 7)
Observatory (Level 1)
Ondol (Level 1)
Stone Breaker (Level 1) NEW
– You are able to break stones easily.
“Wow, really……Now I’m getting all sorts of skills.”
At the bottom of the list, the new skill was blinking.
The description of the skill and the situation too was similar to when the Earth Lump skill was created.
He must’ve been chipping away at the stones zealously, that he finally got a skill.
“How do I use it? Ermmm, Stone Breaker!”
He placed his hand on the stone and tried using the skill, but nothing happened.
“Should I punch it? Stone Breaker!”
Bump!
“Ack!”
Only his hands hurt and the stone still didn’t break.
Then, all there was left was this.
He put the Metal Hammer on the iron spike and hit it as he normally would.
“Stone Breaker!”
Thunkkkk!
In that moment, crack! The stone split in half.
“Oh! Ohhhhhhh!?””
Jung Da-woon jumped up from his seat with two neatly cut stones in his hands.
“What an amazing skill!”
He couldn’t believe how easily the stone broke!
Even the broken cross section was so clean!
He didn’t even strike at it hard!
“How could this be!”
Tears welled up.
The times when he had to squat like a Cro-magnon from the Stone Age, where he struggled to make a crack on the stone, passed like a flash.[T/N: Cro-magnons are the early homo sapiens that existed way back.]
“This is……really fantastic! It’s really, really great-!”
“Pokyuuuu? Pokyuuuuuu, pokyuuuut!”
Seeing its owner get excited, Pokyuu jumped up and down and rejoiced with him even when it didn’t know why.
Jung Da-woon was excited and tried to use his new skill on other stones.
“Stone Breaker! Stone Breaker! Stone Breaker!”
Thuck! Thuck! Thuck!
Crack! Crack! Crack!
Every time he swung the Metal Hammer, the stone kept breaking.
“Oooooohhh!”
It was an evolution! This was evolution in its truest form!
The primitive man, who used to clump soil together, has finally evolved into the Stone Age!
He tried to use his skills on a bigger rock.
“Stone Breaker!”
Crack!
From the tip of the iron spike, the fissures cracked and the edges of the rock were chipped off diagonally.
It was too big to split into two pieces.
“But this was still something else!”
If he couldn’t do it in one shot, he could just strike it a few more times!
Jung Da-woon realized the true value of the Stone Breaker skill.
The Stone Breaker Skill was basically a series of skills similar to the Earth Lump skill.
It took no effort to put a crack on the stone, and it was possible to adjust the direction and area of the crack.
“I can break bigger stones if the level goes up!”
Now that he’s got the skills, Jung Da-woon was eager to make a handaxe made of stone.
“Stone Breaker! Stone Breaker!”
Thuck! Thuck! Thuck!
A handaxe was made in less than an hour.
“This is so convenient!”
Hooray for the Stone Breaker skill!
Jung Da-woon quickly crafted the rest of the handaxe in a short time.
After that, he was excited to test his Stone Breaker skill in various ways.
As a result, he was able to get a rough idea of the characteristics of the Stone Breaker skill.
1) First of all, it had to be knocked with a material harder than rock.
Whether it was a hammer or an iron spike, it had to be something stronger and harder than a stone to activate the skill.
2) The heavier the tool used, the easier it would be to break the stone.
If he hammered at it with the iron spike or butcher knife, he could make detailed sculptures, but they would be cracked.
Without a doubt, the most efficient tool was the iron spike, and striking the top of it with a Metal Hammer-like heavy equipment gave it enough shock to crack it.
In fact, using chisels and hammers was a common stone carving method, but the effect of using the skill was exceptionally good compared to the amount of strength he put in.
Until now, when he tried to carve a stone without a skill, a strike of the hammer would only chip off stone dusts the size of a grain of rice.
But now, using the skill, with one shot! Crack crack! Thuck thuck! The stark difference was so touching that it brought Jung-woon to tears.
3) The direction of the crack can be controlled in detail.
As he continued to use his skills, he could instinctively predict how the stone would split depending on the angle of the iron spike touching the surface of the stone.
This sense seemed to develop with more practice. Or with more levels.
4) So what happens if he only hammered the stone with the Metal Hammer without using iron spikes as a chisel?
It was quite inefficient when he tried it himself.
Regardless of the direction, the whole area was smashed, furthermore, it was inefficient and the speed also became much slower.
Without much results, only stone dust flew around.
“Ohh? This might be unexpectedly.…?”
An idea flashed across his mind.
It was ineffective when he tried to break a big rock, but what would happen when he use his skill on a small stone?
“Stone Breaker!”
Bang!
When the Metal Hammer struck, the stones smashed and split into several pebbles.
“Stone Breaker! Stone Breaker!”
He used the skill again on those pebbles and shattered it even further and it split into even smaller pellets.
After repeating it for a while, he then used the hammer like a millstone and grinded…….
“Phew, it worked. It took quite a while.”
Eventually, he had a handful of finely-grinded ‘stone dust’.
That was what he aimed for.
We refer to this state, in jargon, as ‘sand’.
Wouldn’t this sand be fine enough to use Earth Lump on?
Building sand castles on the sandy beach was in the end just clumping the sand together.
“Earth Lump!”
Cluckk!
‘Sand bricks’ clumped together in his hands!
It was a great success!
Sand Brick (1), Mud Brick (99),
Mud Brick (99), Mud Brick (99)…….
“Wow! There we go! Hahahaha!”
Jung Da-woon shouted with great excitement.
He turned the stone into finely-grinded sand, and then clumped it together again like stones?
It wasn’t an amazing feat, but he was extremely happy nonetheless.
But he was deeply moved and he was lost for words.
He was excited so he crushed the stones and clumped it together again and again.
Then he shook the stones in both hands and burst into an arrogant laughter.
“It became a stone again! Hahaha! This is me! I am the master stonemason!”
He was so excited that he continued blabbering away.
But it was not something to be trifled with.

The Stone Breaker skill was only Level 1 now.
When it reaches the Master Level, what will this skill look like?
* * *
Jung Da-woon was now set to seriously battle against the gargoyle.
He thought.
“What do I have to do to beat that fucker?”
All the gorilla golems had a handaxe, but he didn’t think he could win with just this.
The chest area was covered with a flat stone plate to protect the core, but it was only a temporary measure because the stone plate could not be regenerated.
“Hmm, since it’s a stone statue, I think I can hit that bastard myself with the Stone Breaker skill.….”
But it was not as easy as it sounded.
How the hell would he even break that giant fucker?
He would have to risk his life just to even get close.
Besides, the gargoyle even had the ability to fly!
“Since I have the Stone Breaker skill, should I just not fight and dig through the rocky mountain? I wonder how long it will take to dig a tunnel that leads into the historical site?”
He was never a Fighter class, so it was still best to avoid scary monsters if he could.
Now that he had the Stone Breaking skill, it was now possible to dig a tunnel in the rocky mountain.
But he shook his head shortly after.
“No, I don’t know if the skill level will get higher later on, but it’ll take at least a year to dig through the stone to the historical site at the current level.”
This was only a rough estimate, and he had never dug up the ground with Stone Breaker before, so it was difficult to get an accurate estimate.
In the end, he decided to fight against the gargoyle even if it was dangerous.
“As expected, its flying ability is the problem.”
He recalled the battle at that time.
The gargoyle flew and avoided the gorilla golems that rushed in.
The difference in size was already huge, but it could even fly, so he ended up having his earth golems stuck in a losing confrontation throughout the battle.
“I need to strengthen the mobility.”
Only when his earth golems are able to chase up to the flying gargoyle, can he then launch an attack.
“Should I just make a whole new Golem?”
The elephant and gorilla were created to be as big as possible.
Of course the mobility would be slow.
Wouldn’t a smaller golem carrying the same core become faster, since the output would be much larger as its build was smaller?
He thought it would be better to rebuild it into a more compatible form to fight the gargoyle.
“Let’s make a Kentaurus.”[T/N: Centaur come from the greek word Kentaurus. ]
A species from Greek mythology that had the upper body of a man and the torso of a horse.
Kentaurus was a form that took into account both the mobility and combat power.
It would be able to run fast like a horse while attacking with the handaxe, so it was the perfect form.
“You all have done a great job all these while.”
“Goo-oh?”
“Boo-oh?”
Jung Da-woon decided to scrap the earth golems.
That could be done by just removing the core with the Earth Lump skill.
“Earth Lump! Earth Lump! Earth Lump!”
Staggering.
When the core was removed, the soil golem stopped moving.
It became an ordinary statue made of soil.
He didn’t feel sorry for them.
If he ensured that the statue didn’t collapse by making them stable, it would come back to life any time if he inserted the core into it again.
“You all can just stay on display here as a commemoration.”
Who knows? Maybe the monster rats will run away scared if they saw these soil statues?
Even if the elephant golem couldn’t move, it could continue to be used as an Ondol room in this condition.
If he put the core in when he wanted to, he could then drive(?) it again.
Jung Da-woon immediately began to make a new earth golem.
“Earth Lump! Earth Lump!”
Being at the Master Level, it was much easier and more natural when he clumped the soil together.
When his hand made a gesture, the clumps of dirt slowly changed into the desired form.
“It has to have thick legs to support the body.”
Thick, muscular horse legs were made.
“It’ll be better if the torso isn’t too big.”
The torso was made relatively small so that the weight could be reduced.
“But the human-like upper body is important.”
It had to wield weapons and fight, so unlike the horse’s torso, the body had to be strong.
He made the body and arms big and thick.
“It’s hard to make a face, so let’s make it look like its wearing a helmet.”
Its face was shaped like a helmet.
The shape was a bit awkward, so the body was rebuilt as if it were wearing armor.
“Oh!”
A Kentaurus heavily armed with armor!
The 5-meter-tall Kentaurus golems were great, and they were even more dignified because they were heavily armed.
Excited, he finally put in the Earth Golem’s core.
“Come to life!”
Shinngggg!
A ray of golden light burst out of the Kentaurus golem’s eyes.
“Golem Producer!”
“Ohhhmmm!”
The Kentaurus roared.
Its horse muscles began to twitch vividly.
” Kentaurus! Run over there!”
“Ohhmm!”
Boom!
Upon receiving its first order, the Kentaurus golem stamped strongly and bounced forward like a bullet.
“Oh! It’s faster than the elephant golem!”
It was as intended.
It seemed almost twice as fast as the elephant golem.
That was because the mass has been reduced by twice as much as the elephant golem.
“Come back!”
“Ohhmm!”
As soon as it heard its master, the Kentaurus made a sharp turn!
The making of an agile Earth Golem was successful.
Jung Da-woon immediately made three more Kentaurus golems.
When a total of four Kentaurus golems gathered, it was like a cavalry unit.
Now there’s only one core left.”
But suddenly another thought came to him.
“Should I making something that I can ride myself for the remaining core?”
The mobility increased the smaller its size were.
Kentaurus golems alone could have limitations when fighting against the gargoyle.
If the handaxe couldn’t deal a fatal strike…….
“In the end, I might have to use the Stone Breaker skill to deal a decisive blow.”
If he were to engage in battle directly, he would need a much faster ride than the Kentaurus.
It would be an icing on the cake if it could run as swift as an arrow and jump high!
“……Ostriches?”
It was a sudden thought.
There was no need for it to be big because it would only be used as a ride.
The speed would be much faster if it was smaller.
In his mind, he pictured riding an ostrich, running as swift as an arrow and dodging back and forth.
He thought of a tactic in which the Kentaurus golems would attract the attention, while he would approach quickly and attack with the Stone Breaker skill.

8 119Vendor of Spirits
A warlock once made a pact with the Powers Above. He snuck in a clause that resurrected him whenever he died, with all his memories intact. He lived for thousands of years in a hundred different bodies, changing the world into a dystopian regime where he could freely pursue his passions: alcohol, television and ducks. This made the Powers Above very angry, so they erased his memories and reincarnated him as a simple barmaid in a sleepy village where she could do no harm. I don’t know any of this, of course. I just find it very annoying that she’s chosen me to tag along with.

This is planned to be my gift to you wonderful people on Valentines day 2021. Anyone can use these monsters in their campaigns, their own stories, and just about anything else. Keep in mind that you should not claim any of the monsters as your own, or try to sell them as your own. While I would appreciate it if you were to tell others were you found them. I won't be disappointed if you do not. I'm truly just happy to have someone enjoy them enough and to get the idea out there. Cover drawn by Rose Dragon

It contains terrifying moments of murder, suicide, mayhem, rituals, hauntings, and nightmares in various poetic forms from ballads to sonnets and many more. Most of these pieces are oneshot tales, but the "Haunted Blades" ballad sequence is marked with an asterisk (*) throughout the collection to denote an interconnected series of poems.
