Dungeon Reset Chapter 12

One day.
“Pokyuu?”
Da-woon thought he heard voices while he was sleeping.
“Pokyuu?”
“What, what’s this!?”
Jung Da-woon sprang to his feet.
“Phew. I had a nightmare. I think it was a dream where someone was cursing at-…….”
“Pokyuu?”
“……!?”
Jeong Da-woon was surprised to hear the sound again and he looked around.
Then his eyes met into two small round eyes looking up at him from under his feet.
And the little animal then said.
“Pokyuu?”
“……Huh?”
Jung Da-woon found an animal as small as a baby fist looking at him and doubted his own eyes.
This was the first time he’d ever seen anyone making a sound here except for the Rabbit that occasionally stopped by.
Fluffy brown fur with a middle white stripe, and round black eyes.
“A ground squirrel?”
It was the smallest animal among the dungeon creatures that roamed the forest.
It was a cute little guy who wouldn’t harm the participants, nor did it have much of a presence.
But Jung Da-woon wondered why there was a ground squirrel here.
“You…….”
Hmmmm?
When Jeong Da-woon opened his mouth, the ground squirrel’s ears pricked up and it quickly moved away from him.
Then it nudged his head in front of the entrance to tunnel No. 4 and said to Jung Da-woon,
“Pokyuu?”
“Hey! Wai-, wait!”
Jung Da-woon instinctively ran after it.
He decided to check whether this was a dream or not later.
What was important now was that a ground squirrel appeared here.
They definitely didn’t live only in trees, but they also lived underground!’
“Stand still!”
“Pokyuu!”
When it ran away, Jung Da-woon’s heart began to beat rapidly.
Gently, but at a rapid pace, he chased him into tunnel No. 4, which he recently dug.
“Where did it come down from!?”
He thought that perhaps this was his last chance to go outside.
Ground squirrels can freely roam under the ground, but like himself, it was impossible for them to penetrate the rock layers.
‘The fact that it’s here means, on the contrary, that there’s a path that leads to the ground above from here somewhere!’
“Pokyuu!”
Leaving a final greeting, the ground squirrel disappeared into the darkness.
Instead, what’s left of it is was a small tunnel leading up.
“Is it here? Is it this way? Dirt Lump! Dirt Lump!”
Jung Da-woon kept digging in a frenzy.
But the little guy was no longer seen.
“Ahhh, shit! I missed it!”
Jung Da-woon punched the ground regretfully.
However, as he was digging the area at random, he was lucky enough to discover the traces the little guy had created.
From that day on, while digging, Jung Da-woon would make a sharp turn in the direction of tunnel No. 4 and began digging again from there.
And the next day.
“Pokyuu?”
“What the?! Who pointed a middle finger at me!”
Again, Jung Da-woon was sleep-talking and vulgarly screamed, and then he woke up.
Just then, he found two black eyes looking at him again.
“You’re back again!”
Jeong Da-woon made a fuss because he was so happy to see a new life after a long time.
But his behavior seems to have been somewhat threatening to the small, delicate ground squirrels.
Scurrying!
“No. Wait! I’m not being mad at you!”
“Pokyuuuu!”
Jung Da-woon followed behind the ground squirrel, who was running away more carefully than yesterday.

As expected, the squirrel dug the ground with its short paws yesterday near where it was last seen.
“I knew it was this way. Dirt Lump! Dirt Lump!”
Jung Da-woon cheered at the slither of hope he had barely managed to find.
He thought he could finally get out of here.
“But why would it come here again?”
Suddenly, such a question came to his mind.
It would have been a coincidence if it appeared once, but two days in a row?
This meant that there was something here that the ground squirrel wanted.
‘Did I have anything that the ground squirrel likes to eat?’
While he was digging the tunnel, he looked all the way through the tunnel facilities he had built.
Then he found traces where the ground squirrel was at.
“……Bones?”
He found traces of the ground squirrel rummaging through the room, which was full of bones of the one-horned boars.
On the floor, he could see the remnants of the bones that were gnawed at by the little guy.
“Don’t tell me ground squirrels eat bones?”
He didn’t know anything about the ecology of the dungeon animals, but Jung Da-woon decided to try it.
The “bone warehouse” was a separate collection of bones from the one-honed boars that had been butchered.
There, he carved the bones from time to time to make tools.
Among them, the ground squirrel seemed to pick only the small bones to gnaw at.
“If I give him this, will we become friendlier?”
It was important to get out of the ground, but Jung Da-woon, who had been alone, was so happy to see the sudden appearance of the guest.
He was even glad to see the Rabbit Helper that appeared occasionally, which was evident that he was lonely.
He thought it would be great to tame a ground squirrel and make it a pet.
“Okay. I’ll call you Lil Greedy from now on.”
From that day on, Jung Da-woon’s efforts to tame Lil Greedy the ground squirrel began.
“I’ll make you a pretty food bowl, Lil Greedy.”
As expected, the first gift for pets, is a food bowl.
Jung Da-woon rubbed the sticky mud on a wide plate with his palm to make a long and round roll of mud.
And he stacked it up prettily and round to make a piece of earthenware.
The surface was shaped smoothly with water, and it was shaped like a comb pattern.
After drying for a day, a pretty comb-patterned food bowl was made.
Then, Jung Da-woon collected the small bones and piled them neatly in the bowl.
And he then used his Purification skill on the bones.
“Purification!”
Shiing!
Wouldn’t this make the bones taste a little better?’
When he ventured the dungeon with his companions, Jeong Da-woon used his Purification skills even on food that had no poison.
He didn’t know the principle behind it, but the Purification skill seemed to have had the effect of improving the taste of the food even if by a little.
He thought he had to try whatever he could and see what will unfold.
Just like that, ‘Lil Greedy’ appeared as usual the next day.
“Pokyuu?”
“Huckk!?”
Scurrying!
When Jung Da-woon woke up, he saw the ground squirrel with a plump butt running away in a flash.
After that, Jung Da-woon, who had been digging the ground for a long time after chasing the fluffy tail, checked the food bowl first.

And his face lit up.
“You ate!”
It ate a lot.
The food bowl had been emptied out to the very bottom with no bones left.
At this rate, it was only a matter of time before he could tame it!
“That’s right, you can eat it. Eat a lot alright.”
Jung Da-woon gathered the small bones again and used his Purification skill on it and filled the bowl.
However, he moved the food bowl a little closer to his bed.
“I’ll move it just a little closer because it might be on guard if I move the bowl too far.”
Jung Da-woon planned more carefully than he did when he was dealing with the one-horned boar.
Like that, the ground squirrel visited Jung Da-woon’s hideout every day, and each time the food bowl would be completely empty.
* * *
‘Lil Greedy’ has been excited these days.
It was roaming under the ground and by chance discovered this place where it could eat something that was extremely delicious.
It looked a little dangerous because there was a human living nearby, but there was no problem because it could eat secretly while he was asleep anyway.
If it got caught sneaking around, it could run aboveground quickly.
But one day, Lil Greedy experienced a shocking taste there.
Crunch.
“Kyuuuuuuu!?”
As soon as it nibbled at the bone, its black eyes grew as big as a bean.
The purified bones of the one-horned boar had an insane flavor that it had never experienced anywhere in the dungeon!
“Bbo, Pokyuuuuuuuuuuu!?”
The moment it experienced the fantastic taste, firecrackers were popping inside Lil Greedy’s head.
Dopamine, endorphin, all kinds of fantastic hormones dominated its body.
It was a festival!
Crunch crunch!
It was a wild festival!
“……Kyuuuuuuiii?”
Surprised!
When Lil Greedy came to its senses, the rice bowl in front of it was already completely empty.
It was hectic and it didn’t know whether the many bones went into its nose or cheeks.
And from that day on, Lil Greedy visited Jeong Da-woon’s hideout on a daily basis.
Now that it had experienced the taste of purified bone, it couldn’t eat anything else.
No other food could satisfy Lil Greedy’s taste.
Purified bone. It was like a drug.
It was the only drug allowed and found in the dungeon.
The power of the ecstatic drug made Lil Greedy become unaware that the position of the food bowl was gradually shifting somewhere.
Then one day, he was flustered.
“Pokyuu?”
Today’s food bowl was laid on the belly of Jeong Da-woon, who was asleep.
Lil Greedy realized today that he was at the crossroads of its life.
No matter how delicious the bones were, it was too dangerous to get close to humans.
There was times when his kind would approach humans with curiosity and were eaten by them, and it wasn’t just once or twice you see?
Said its inner intellect. No matter what, this wasn’t right.
It had to return back.
But……
“Pokyuu Pokyuu!”
It was already eating without realizing it!
Even to the point of humming a melody!
And there were anxious eyes watching all of that unfold carefully…….
‘I succeeded!’
Jung Da-woon was experiencing a moving moment.
The little guest is finally on his stomach and it was eating without a care!
Lil Greedy’s cute little soles could be felt on his stomach and the feeling of its warm and soft belly were so cute that he was being careful just to even breathe.
In the off chance that he might scare the cute little animal and spoil this moment, he was being extremely careful.
Crunch crunch!
Lil Greedy ate the bones so deliciously that it did just shove its face in the bowl and was about to even fall into it.
The reaction made the little, plump hips bounce its hind legs up and down.
Eventually, its body was turned upside down.
Rolling forward!
“Kyuuuuuiiii?”
“Oh my!”
Jeong Da-woon was more surprised about what was happening.
Then at that moment, their eyes met.
“Hoooo.”
It was a tense moment.
However, Lil Greedy, who was already drunk on the drug-like bone, raised it head for a moment and buried its face in the bone again.
Crunch crunch!
‘Phew….’
A sigh came out of his mouth.
A proud smile was stuck on his face.
* * *
The first time would of course be difficult, but the next time after that would be a piece of cake.
Since then, Lil Greedy would be absorbed in the purified bones without running away, even if Jung Da-woon was awake.
Jung Da-woon eventually modified the bottom of the bowl and put it on his shoulders.
Once Lil Greedy saw that, it tilted its head, and climbed up over Jeong Da-woon’s body and buried it facse in the food bowl on his shoulders.
He felt like crying.
Jung Da-woon gently stroked its head with trembling hands.
It was a success. The little cute animal accepted his hands and his petting.
“Keuuuu. So cute. Too cute.’
But at that moment, a golden light flashed from its body.
“Pokyuu!”
And a new message appeared before his eyes.
“Friend of the Ground Squirrel!”
You have succeeded in taming a small cowardly ground squirrel from the forest! The Dungeon pays tribute to you for your amazing affinity and sociability.
– Reward: Tamed ground squirrels now understands your words.
“Huh? Achievement?”
Jung Da-woon tilted his head at the unexpected situation.
He wondered if achievements were originally achieved so often, but then this never happened when he was with his companions.
Of course, it wasn’t a big achievement, so the reward wasn’t as big as the fish in the pond.….
But he somehow liked that moment.
Before Jung Da-woon knew, Lil Greedy was rubbing its head against his hand!
His eyes shut tightly as if he was in a very good mood!
“Keuuu. Heyy! I’m your master! Let’s stay together for life!”
“Pokyuu?”
“… …please don’t curse at me.”
At his polite request, Lil Greedy tilted his head and said, nodding as if it understood his words.
“Pokyuu, pokyuu.”
“…….”
Anyways, as compensation for his achievements, Lil Greedy seemed to understand Jeong Da-woon’s words.
“Do you want me to give you a proper name? I don’t really like calling you Lil Greedy. Ummm….’
He scanned Lil Greedy gently with a serious gaze.
“Let’s just call you Pokyuu.”
“Pokyuu!”
“That’s right. You’re Pokyuu.”
Jung Da-woon giggled for a long time as the first friend he made that came into the ground was just so cute and he was happy.
Meanwhile, as if lightning suddenly struck his head.
He thought of a good idea.
“Ah! Hey Pokyuu! Could you show me the path you took to find me down here?”
“Kyuuiii?”
“I mean the way out of this tunnel.”
“Pokyuuu.”
It nodded.
As soon as he finished speaking, Lil Greedy which was called Pokyuu now, came down to the floor and turned his head toward Jeong Da-woon.
It was as if it was telling him to follow along.
“There we go!”

8 196Time Can't Heal This
I've always hated the saying "Time heals all wounds." Maybe in most cases that may be true. In my experience with life and pain however, time has only ever bled out the wound. The scars that the wounds left behind though, are often so deep that just looking at them becomes painful to the mind. Time only heals what you let go of. Sometimes letting go and moving on just doesn't feel possible; no matter how much time you let pass you by.These poems signify what time hasn't healed for me.
