Once Human, Now A Parasite Chapter 1

While Arthur was gazing around the area and angrily cursing himself. He realized that he didn't specify what race he should be reborn into, so 'X' just reincarnated him into an Insect of some sort. He couldn't even walk properly, in fact, he had to crawl. Despite this, he was quite fast for an insect. Not even a minute after he appeared, some sound rang in his head

Arthur thought that 'X' screwed up and reincarnated him into an insect. Fortunately, the shock was only momentary as the blue windows appearing before his eyes were good news. The surroundings were realistic but those blue notifications windows resembled a game's.
He was really surprised when he saw his skills, they seemed really overpowered. Hypothetically, if someone is reincarnated, they would get a blessing or a unique power but certainly not this many skills and buffs.
He also wondered if he could see his health and if it even existed, because, in games, there is a health bar with a number on it and if it reaches zero, you are dead.

Arthur inspected his stats for a while and since he didn't have anything to compare it to, he didn't know if he's really weak or really strong. As he has the size of an insect, it's safe to assume his strength is that of an ant, though his Agility is rather high.
He felt a bit pathetic but didn't spend too much time dwelling on the stats and soon started crawling on the dirt with decent speed but it has to be said that he felt uncomfortable. He was used to being a human so moving like some sort of a snake can't be said to be a good thing, especially with his current size.
After some searching, he found a little hole in the ground, it was pitifully small, but to him, it looked like a massive pitfall.

The parasite jumped down, hoping to encounter something that could empower him but the moment he landed, he was surrounded by monsters with a disgusting appearance. They're more or less double his size and looked a little similar to the ants from his previous world, however, these supposed 'ants' were green in color and had some small scales on their bodies.

He stood there dazed for a couple of seconds and only snapped out of it when these ants rushed at him with what could only be described as hostility.
It was truly a frightening sight but the parasite didn't sit down and wait for death to come for him. He was much smaller than them and didn't know how exactly he should retaliate.
His first thought was to escape so he put all of his strength and dashed to the left. He wasn't able to control his abnormal speed so he ended up hitting one of the child ants.
The result was rather unexpected as he expected himself to be cut in two pieces but that wasn't the case at all. He underestimated his speed and managed to pass straight through the ant, resulting in a bloody hole in its chest.
The ant fell soundlessly to the floor while green blood flowed from its gaping wound. Arthur, not knowing what to do, concentrated on the dead ant's body and dove into it. Everything went dark for a second and when he opened his eyes, he saw another row of blue notifications.
You have successfully Possessed a mutated child Ant.
You have gained a new skill! [Dig](lvl 6).
You have gained a new skill! [Ant Language]
You have gained a new skill! [Dive](lvl 2).
You have gained a new skill! [Headbut](lvl 4).

Arthur quickly got up using his new 'body', he still wasn't sure what just happened until he read the notification and noticed his increased height. The hole he inflicted on this body was still present but he didn't feel any pain and his Health was still full, which made him conclude that any 'self-inflicted' injury on a host won't cause him any troubles, apparently.
The rest of the ants were confused but due to their limited intelligence, they soon dispersed. After Arthur possessed that ant, he tried to sneak up and find a safe place, but it was a huge labyrinth, it took him 2 whole hours to find a place relatively quiet, remote, and safe with no ants nearby.
A sudden drop in temperature indicated that night has fallen so Arthur spent quite a while resting without being interrupted by any of his 'kin'.
When he woke up, he felt invigorated and decided to try and possess more ants to further increase his shallow stats. After possessing the current host, his stats were slightly boosted and should be enough for him to fight equally with some of them. Furthermore, his high Agility should allow him to flee comfortably if the need ever arises.
After searching for quite some time, he finally found a Mutated Ant child level 2. He approached it from behind and used [Dive] on it. He thought it would put a little resistance, but it was crushed into the wall and turned into a mass of flesh and broken scales with green blood dying the ground. As soon as it stopped twitching and died, he got notifications that he gained several levels.

Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.
