Chapter 84: Dragon Slayers
"What's with such an absent-minded expression?" Venomous asked.
She was looking at Michu with an inquisitive gaze, but happiness was what prevailed. An unrestrained smile lingered on Yumi's face after Michu's victory, so she couldn't understand why he would be so quiet.
Michu glanced at her, then shook his head, "I was thinking about something. How much did you see?" He asked while caressing his chin!
After Yumi said, "Everything." Michu nodded a few times then asked Venomous what she thought about his battle.
Of course, endless praises bypassed her soft lips, but Yumi also reminded Michu that he was just a little too reckless.
Nonetheless, the game was a show and the loss in the first survival game would've kicked him out of the tournament.
All in all, Michu did a splendid job. "You made Lil Karolin scream for you many times."
"Lil Karolin?" Michu scoured his mind, but no Lil Karolin appeared within.
He had never seen her nor heard about this commentator lady! This was strange as she was a known figure! But as Lil Karolin's voice rang out in the restaurant, Michu realized the crux of his issue.
Lil Karolin had a flat chest.
No melons!
He narrowed his eyes, thinking of... the appropriate term that wouldn't be rude!
"Board," Venomous chuckled from the side, but Michu shook his head.
That was indeed rude.
Michu rejected that idea and he decided to think about the issue while facing someone with a flat chest face to face or in real life. For now, he could look and listen to Lil Karolin through the screen in the restaurant.
Her voice was pleasant, so Michu planned to rewatch his battle with her commentary later on.
"We all won... so the final survival game is next!" Michu said while drinking a carbonated drink! Those drinks were naturally brought by humans from Earth and they had a monopoly over it! Of course, a lot of NPCs had fallen in love with these and so the restaurant had those!

Venomous also sucked some drink through a straw, "Of course... That's given to us..." She never doubted their chances in The Regional Tournament.
What surprised her was that there weren't many black horses.
Other than her and Michu, was there someone who possessed a unique skill or real-life experience that would put them above the rest?
Venomous hadn't seen many games, but shouldn't other players spread rumors anyway? What she heard was basically 'Lil Monke' and 'Venomous' alongside other popular figures who were wreaking havoc in other survival games.
Both Kitty Blue and Kaiser were venting out their frustrations on others and no one else seemed to steal the spotlight.
She couldn't exclude the possibility of any hidden threat!
"How can you drink it?" KongFu also had his carbonated drink. He sucked on the straw and trembled each time the gas popped off in his mouth.
Even though he was the will that returned out of the yellow river, KongFu could take a social activity! He was the old god limited by not only his small body but many other factors.
Would there be a need for a successor if he could return easily like that?
"It's a good drink, once in a while," Yumi replied to the old god, then switched topics, "Anyway, our worst opponent will be Zerze. But even if he takes the top one spot, we should receive one of our desired items."
The Regional Tournament was a great experience for players that aimed for the top. It was not only a place where you could show yourself for the world but also a place filled with hefty rewards from the top guilds.
The reward for winning the regional tournament was the sword; Excalibur!
No one believed that such a sword would be a reward, so it was probably a replica. But even replicas held tremendous power within and it was probably a sword with an ego! Venomous wanted this sword and Michu would assist her to gain it.

"In this game, the sword belonged to the Dragon Slayer," Venomous chuckled, her eyes on the baby monke who could see the question within her eyes.
KongFu shared the story, "Humans are such pussies." The way he began the story distorted the faces of his friends, but he paid it no heed, "They adapt and adapt. If their techniques won't work, then they will create something new out of nowhere solely for one purpose. Whether it is to kill dragons or someone else, they will adapt and create killing techniques. If you have too many techniques of different attributes, how can you reach heaven?"
"Aren't you a god?" Venomous' chuckles became wider!
It was a smile KongFu couldn't bear. His tail got stiff and he pointed a finger at her face, "Heaven is even bigger chaos!"
"It's not like you had a future in heaven if the snake goddess was enough to destroy you and your tribe." Yumi was merciless, but she wanted to squeeze this monkey for more interesting stuff.
However, KongFu glared at her and turned around, his lips busy with straw that passed all juice to his mouth.
"The world is so big we should keep an eye on things we can reach for," Venomous changed the topic, then spoke about the second desired thing.
It was horn.
The Black Horn was the name and it was an undefined item.
What was displayed by the organizers was that it was tough and nearly impossible to break an item, even by players around 180 levels!
The mystery lay behind that horn, but it hadn't appealed to many players.
Why? Because newbie players wanted instant rewards.
Excalibur was the perfect example. You would wield it, get an astonishing power and just slash through everyone!
But the horn needed a blacksmith to turn it into an item. If not a blacksmith, then someone else! The point was that players needed support with such items and who could afford all those expenses without the guild and another backing?
It couldn't have appealed to players with normal or just a little more unique origin.
However, Michu and KongFu were planning a summon.
This horn was one of the perfect items for that summon!

The Queen's Guard
Friedrich Schreiner is a proud gefreiter of the Queen's Guard, 2nd Company: the finest fighting infantry on the continent (barring the Temple Guard; but please don't bring that up). Service is honourable but, with the Empire on a peacetime footing, terribly boring. Affairs take a dramatic turn for the worse when a mysterious invader uses a forgotten and taboo magical means to breach the capital, plunging the nation into chaos and endangering the royal family. With events spiraling out of control, Friedrich is entrusted with a critical mission. Will hot lead, cold steel, and his determination be enough to see him through? The Queen's Guard is what I'm calling a black powder fantasy story: it's set in a loose equivalent of the early 18th century (plus or minus a few pieces I decided I wanted or didn't want). Magic exists, but not in a spell-slinging sort of way: it's Earth-shaking undertakings or minor enchantments forged in by master craftsmen, the grand working of a secretive cabal or a slight nudge to the course of a blow. I, the eternal optimist, have a full trilogy in mind. The first book is The Prince's Arquebusier, hence the cover and the title disagreeing! This is my shot at 2021's NaNoWriMo and RR Writathon! I've hitherto been terrible at writing long-form fiction, so this is an effort to break out of that by having some accountability in being supposed to post chapters regularly. Here's hoping it works! I have an outline, but not too much detail. I'll do my best to avoid continuity errors, doing anything glaringly stupid, or otherwise fluffing my lines, but I can't make any promises on that. Please do let me know any feedback! Always happy to improve. [participant in the Nov 2021 Royal Road Writathon challenge]
