I Will Be The Monkey God! Chapter 50

Chapter 50: High Intelligence Mode - Smart Monke
"I wish the day would be more than 24 hours!" Michu happily cheered. He glanced at the water reflection; his last opponent. It had been more than two weeks and Michu was just that engaged in his training here.
Venomous had long since ended her subclass quest and she wanted to see Michu. In one of her recent messages, she bluntly typed 'I missed you' which made Michu blush like never before.
It was a kinda nice feeling, so he wanted her to say it again, but to no avail.
"You will live for more than a thousand years; just like me. What's the point of rushing?" KongFu said while digging in his monkey's nose, not caring about his image in the slightest. On the other side, Yakuzan cheered, knowing that Michu was the last step before completing the whole Azure Lake's quest.
"Hehe, I hope so!" Michu answered this absurd, but pleasant to his ears fantasy. If he could live for more than a thousand years, then he would probably see the whole world and even more!
But Michu didn't plan all those dreams to swarm his mind and blind him from the current goal. If anything, he would love to actually dream of other lands instead. Thus, he raised his staff, grasped it with his other hand, then entered the battle stance that looked polished and smooth.
His eyes narrowed, then a radiant smile spread on his face, "Let's fight!"
BANG!
Instantly after his declaration, the water reflection closed up distance. Holding the staff with both hands similarly to Michu, its right knee went forth and a thrust followed it. Michu blocked the thrust, closed up distance with an uppercut, then both staff holders engaged in a short exchange of four-pointers.
The four, fast attacks carried heavy force behind thanks to the perfect breathing technique, muscle and stamina control. While both of them sounded like monkeys, no one here commented on that.
Well, there were only two monkeys in the crowd...

Michu smiled widely, then forgot about the whole world. In his eyes, the water reflection mirrored and all experiences flashed briefly. One by one, he learned how to close up distance, attack from all sides, and manage his strength properly.
Ignited by all the experience he gained and the thrill that had come together with it, Michu strengthened his elbow, then thrust with imperceptible speed.
The water reflection let out a deafening cry, clearly screaming, "It's a crit! Fuck!" However, such a vulgar impression could only appear within KongFu's eyes. One thing was accurate, though; the critical strike.
Once fallen, the water reflection became exposed to Michu's staff. The monke's staff was like a cue stick hitting the balls on the green table. In reality, the water reflection held the staff with a wider grasp and desperately clung to its life.
The water splashed, their rough breathing blended in and this continued until change appeared from either side.
It was the water reflection that broke its speed boundaries yet again.
It appeared behind Michu in a flash!
However, Michu held tight his staff with two hands. He raised his staff, aligned it with his neck height, then one of his hands slid on the staff. In this way, he brought his staff behind himself and heavily struck the water reflection that barely could react to such fast and unexpected judgment.
Its vision shook, the small shockwave spread around its ear, then its whole body reeled to the wall. As it hurtled itself into it, the loud bang rang out, then the system messages swarmed Michu's mind.
"Heeeeh," KongFu exclaimed with a sneer. "Not bad. You got all your sides covered. Now, it's your time, brat." The Monkey God turned his eyes to Yakuzan who stepped into the thin water.
On his way, Michu and Yakuzan high-fived, then the monke took Yakuzan's place in the crowd.
As he curled up and hugged his legs, Michu asked, "Did I do well? How was my last battle?" His smile was so wide that KongFu couldn't bring himself to complain. Nonetheless, there wasn't much he could complain about, so he just waved his hand.

"You did well. It was pretty normal, I'd say... This speed buff on your muscles should last to around sixty levels... I don't know about it, so I can make a proper estimation after you evolve it. What is it called?"
"It's Called Azure Liquid Control," Michu replied.
"Liquid Control? There should be more to it, then..." KongFu caressed his chin, then raised his eyes at Yakuzan. If Michu's battle was like a proper battle between two monkeys, then Yakuzan was like the born gangsters.
He threw punches, jabs, and uppercuts like never before and completely ignored his body. The latter was similar to Michu who often would immerse himself too much in the fantasy world.
This made the whole battle exciting, though. "You can do it, Yakuzan!" Since Yakuzan no longer had a blessing that would increase his speed, the battle lasted longer as defenses had been raised.
But the monke's friend won through his willpower and wits, breaking Yakuzan's water reflection's nose. It splashed on the water, wailed, then dispersed into a thousand drops that landed on Yakuzan's body.
A blessing, thus, had been strengthened and the monke could go and try the new world as named residents.
"Good job, Yakuzan! It was an awesome battle! Like from TV! We lacked the crowd, but I hope we two were enough for you!" Michu exclaimed.
Yakuzan just nodded and raised his hand, clearly satisfied with the results.
KongFu didn't spare time and went to another topic, "You have a golden banana, don't you?"
"Yes! It's my first ability!" Michu nodded and didn't mind instantly shifting to another topic. He took out a golden banana and presented it to the monkey god. KongFu's eyes appraised it and his analysis came out from his lips.
He said, "It's weak, but you probably used around 1000 normal bananas. I feel like even worse bananas were used, but I can't complain. This world is that weak! Let me play around it with this banana, though." KongFu put his hands on the banana, then closed his eyes.
After an hour or so, he opened these again, "Eat it."
"What did you do?" Michu asked while peeling off the golden banana. He had never tried it and the last time he used it, the Rhino got a devastating effect that was more like a prank! Michu had many thoughts about the golden banana, but this exact effect was also one of many that stopped him from eating it.
KongFu replied, "You should get a positive effect out of this banana. And as my inheritor, you should get something useful. Now, eat and tell us what."
Michu munched, swallowed, and munched. His mind then shook and he got a slightly nauseated feeling. It felt like his brain screamed with happiness, though. He then swayed and fell onto the ground.
KongFu was weirded out by this reaction, then Yakuzan's punch brushed past his cheek. If not the monkey god's old senses, then his baby soul's appearance would've been flying across the Azure Lake.
The monke then raised his body... "It's called... High Intelligence Mode - Smart Monke!"
"Have your brain steamed because of it? Oh my beautiful phoenixes, descend and take care of this soul... and me." Cough! KongFu continued, knowing that his prayers at most would send some player with phoenix class and that would be a pain in the ass, "So you become smarter, sharper or what is it?"
"Uh, it increases my intelligence stat. It's a passive ability and it randomly activates."
KongFu spat out while digging in his ear, "Boring."
"Eh?! Eh?!" Michu then roared with confusion!
[You have eaten The Monkey God's Inheritor Banana!]
[Your body can no longer get random stat!]
"That's not it," KongFu explained, "You need higher quality or higher levels, I guess. While the former I can warrant for, the latter is just my guess."

Apollyon's Curse
Within the pages of folklore and fantasy, tales of people who chase after the dream of eternity, of living forever, rarely find a happy ending. They are either struck by the grim truth of reality, give up, and return to mortality or face a ghastly realization of their wishes. The latter often the worse fate, as they come to realize, only far too late, that what they sacrificed was worth far more than the time they gained. Ultimately, the common thread in these stories is that “immortality is as much a curse as it is a blessing”. People either realize it early and give up or are doomed to inevitably face its consequences. In the world Enrich lives in, that saying does hold merit. Every pathway towards eternal life has shackles of its own. They bring those high above down to the ground, evening the playing field. It is thanks to these fundamental laws that ambitious mortals are able to defy the heavens and achieve immortality themselves. The variety of methods result in each of these bindings varying in intensity and degree of freedom. Enrich’s path doesn't break this trend. Though, after what he did to himself, most wouldn’t even consider him a living thing anymore. On the day of his ascension, a world’s worth of souls were melted and recast. On that day, the human’s path had reached its conclusion, recast into Apollyon. An artifact, a weapon, is eternal, after all. As for the curse? The payment will be made, as it must. So why not offload the curse to someone else? Mortals throw their lives away for all manner of petty reasons, noble or otherwise, especially in desperation. Eventually, someone will be willing to foot the bill. Most will if given the chance. The bait is far too tempting, after all. Power, status, knowledge. All at their fingertips. If only they say “yes”. And Apollyon is very willing to help any lost souls. If they give up everything in return, of course.
