Chapter 12: Venomous' Eyes
As the torches and light orbs became the dominant source of light, Michu and Venomous' adventure ended.
They were already up in the north and could just log off from the game.
On their way here, the party had leveled up a little and their loot was just a little below the average.
Since their goal was not to grind anything, it was a pleasant result.
"See you tomorrow," Venomous halted, turned her green eyes to Michu, then bid farewell. It was time for her to log off as well as she was morning bird.
Michu also had to log off and prepare for tomorrow, so he waved his hand at her, "Good night!"

The sound of the VR Capsule opening echoed faintly within the room.
It was an empty room with just curtains covering the window, VR Capsule, and table.
A small lamp was the only source of light within this room and it barely could shed its light on the capsule.
But the small and pale foot soon left it and stomped on the cracking floor.
The Four Leaf World didn't offer many cosmetics in the game.
Players likewise couldn't play the opposite gender, so there weren't any natural traps within the game. A pity that many complained early on…
In real life, Venomous had black hair, but her green eyes stood the same. She also had paler skin and seemed even thinner which was due to many complications in her life.
However, the VR Capsule was a luxury. It was one of the newest versions that allowed complete immersion. On the table, the newest generation laptop just flashed its light as Venomous turned it on.
Although her room was one of the oldest and cheapest, the stuff for gaming and information gathering was of the highest quality.

In this contrast, Venomous began to research the city she had arrived in the game just now.
[Mountain Cliff City.]
It already became a habit of hers. Even though the time she had spent in the game didn't exceed one month, Venomous deeply focused on researching everything. Her research ranged from the beginner's guides to the level 100 ones.
But all of these were just for her to get common knowledge.
Her goals were far higher!
"Of course we would stumble upon such an annoying prick…" Venomous spoke to herself as she read the information.
On her screen, the walkthrough of Mountain Cliff City could be seen. It had the most important information regarding the noble residing here, his troops, and common quests that could be acquired from him and the people in the city.
A lot of stuff researched by early players was written here.
But the noble had one flaw.
He hated players.

"Another bunch? Haa." The old man in a black suit passed two documents for Michu and Venomous. Those soon turned into quests that flashed before their eyes as system messages.
Venomous ignored the man's sigh and swept those quest logs to the side. "We are not here for this common quest."
"You accepted this, though," The butler replied.
He was the one who accepted people in his lord's name and personally handed the most quests.
It would look different in bigger households, but it was what it was.
Venomous smiled, "I wouldn't refuse such an easy quest and pocket money." Her eyes turned serious then, "Look at this and arrange a meeting for us with your Lord."
These words were a signal to Michu to pass the information about his banana to the butler.
But he was still a little unskilled with all those system windows, so his hands flailed like a zombie before the screen.

He soon shouted, "I did it… I think…" Michu scratched his chin in wonder, but Venomous nodded after her hand left her forehead.
It seemed like awkwardness finally faded away.
"I will call my lord immediately," The butler exclaimed after seeing the banana's description. He turned heels and rushed to the lord's room.
The doors to the mansion didn't even close, but Venomous tactfully told Michu to wait for the old man to return.
She asked, "I hope you didn't forget to hide the name?"
"Yes, but I couldn't hide anything else. This is the game's feature, right?" Michu replied with another question.
He hid the banana's name to cover its origins, then wanted to even play with the description to get praise.
His good idea ended up with a big failure that Michu didn't dare to share with Venomous.
"Yes. Otherwise, it would be easy to swindle in this game."
And as Michu complained a little about his freedom, he could understand a few things when it came to such bad things. His family had some sad past with those.
At last, the butler returned.
His face had changed from indifferent to gleeful one in Michu's eyes. He was really happy to see him and the young monkey scratched his hair from this sudden attention.
His friend was the one who took things seriously and carefully.
But as Venomous stepped into the mansion and followed the butler, she suddenly looked different.
It was all in Michu's eyes, but he felt like she belonged to such exquisite and extravagant places.
This glance lasted for a little as Michu's eyes began to run around the whole corridor. His scanned paintings, furniture, doors, and everything that piqued his curiosity.
Finally, the butler stopped, opened the doors then the duo entered the office.
Michu continued his odd behavior, looking around like a monkey.
While her friend just stood like an oddball, Venomous took a seat and put hands on her legs. She sat straight and with enough demeanor to make the lord keep his eyes off Michu.
"I am Tron Fabian. It seems like you two have come with bigger interest, so allow me to cut straight to it." A noble with a round belly and oily face introduced himself.
Venomous raised her green eyes, "Don't you want to hear our names?" Faint laughter escaped the noble's lips after this question.
His cheeks tensed and he seemed to turn more serious after Venomous just introduced herself with an in-game nickname.
It was a noticeable change she didn't miss.

Tales From the Terran Republic
We tried, you know… We really did. We tried so hard to be… better… We actually were better once. No, seriously. We were enlightened, generous, peaceful… Stop laughing! We were! We were peaceful, dammit! No, I’m not “tugging your winglets.” It’s true! Look, if you’re going to be like that, I’ll just push the launch button right now. See ya, don’t wanna be… Oh, you ARE interested after all? Ok. Hey, I just got word that your captain will be ok. We were able to get him into a med pod quick enough… Of course, we tried to save him. Just what sort of people do you think we are?... Now that was harsh… completely accurate, mind you… but harsh. Anyway, like I was saying, we were a prosperous, peaceful people, and war had been nothing but a distant memory for over five hundred years before it happened... Before Yellowstone happened! You don’t mean to tell me that you didn’t know about that… massive supervolcano? Blew the Hell out of our planet? Two years where nothing grew?… Anyway, that’s what started it, the Sol Wars… Oh, you have heard about those, huh? Well, needless to say, all that enlightened, generous, and peaceful didn’t exactly make it through the two years of complete famine and the wars that followed… Maybe it’s more accurate to say the enlightened, generous, and peaceful among us didn’t survive… (laughs)… You’re right. It does explain a lot, doesn’t it? Probably for the best, though. “Enlightened” and “peaceful” aren’t really all that useful out here in the galaxy at large, are they? That reminds me; thanks for the ship. You guys did a great job with this one. Oh, don’t be like that. At least it was us what got you and not one of the really messed groups like the Harlequin or the Black Angels. We’re just going to take your shit. It could be worse… trust me... Well, anyway, we loaded the life pods down with some good food, and you guys can drink alcohol, right? We put in a couple of fifths in there, too. It’s about forty percent ethanol, so be warned. Most species will want to dilute that. We’ll drop your wounded off somewhere safe once they are stable. Your fleet patrols this area fairly regularly, and we’ll drop the distress beacon right before we jump… Well, It’s been fun and no hard feelings, right?… Oh, you want to know some more? Sure. I got time to kill… Let me tell you about this one pirate and her crew. They’re Terran scum, but they are still… Why do we hate the Terrans? Hoo Boy… How much time you got? *** It’s the thirty-second century, and humanity is now part of a galactic civilization comprised of hundreds of worlds. Humanity has been savaged by natural disaster and war and has been fractured into several separate populations, all of which loathe each other (some things never change). This is a gritty drama-driven rambling tale that swings between action, drama, horror, and plenty of very, very dark comedy. Warning: contains adult situations, absolutely horrible language, bathroom humor, implied ultra-violence, actual ultra-violence, drugs, alcohol, pirates, mercs, xeno prostitutes, moral ambiguity, deranged AI's with identity issues, giant commie space slugs, and a poor little frog girl who just wants to sell coffee. Updates twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday. *** Note: This story can get rough. Those warning tags? They aren't for show. I recently received a review and as a result I want to make one thing clear. Portraying something is NOT endorsing it! Many "heavy" topics are touched upon and just because a character says or does something does not imply that the author feels the same way. I selected the "Anti-Hero Lead" and "Villainous Lead" tags for a reason. Rule number one of this story is "no good guys". A good description of the story is, "bad people doing bad things to worse people". There are a few good characters, here and there, but they are the exception to the rule. If you want a hard-hitting, exciting, gritty sci-fi story that doesn't pull any punches, or shies away from "difficult" concepts, welcome! If you are set on a pure and noble knight that runs around and slays conveniently evil monsters and rescues totally innocent princesses... or your sensibilities are easily offended... You're not going to be happy with this one.
