Chapter 9: I want to speak with that Venomous
"I have met my first friend in the game, little sister," After leaving the VR Capsule, Michu tumbled his way towards his sister whose eyes had been glued to the laptop for a good time already.
Her brother's voice pulled the attention, however.
"Welcome back!" Nana called her brother out, then curiously asked, "It's not hard to find parties in the game, right? Who is the first lucky friend?"
Since Michu became the player with a unique class, Nana obviously labeled the first friend as a lucky person.
But her brother just giggled and told her about the story, "I got a unique banana with a random stat bonus. But the process had been so weird that I gathered a lot of attention. So many players wanted to snatch away my bananas, but I fought them all after getting the special quest. She was one of the people that helped me."
Nana blanked, then looked deeply into her brother's eyes.
For many, this would be the beginning of a close relationship that could deepen in various ways.
However, Nana was smarter than Michu and she could see more meaning behind her mother's tears. It was just not the hard work and loans that made her saddened in the past.
Right now, Nana grasped her clothes tightly, bit her lips, and closed her eyes as if holding back something really precious within herself.
Michu tensed from seeing her like that, then asked quietly, "What's wrong?"
"She must know, big brother!" Nana's voice was opposite. She roared despite the stars already shining above them. "She must know about your special class! In other words, she wants to use you."
A little sister immediately proposed to cut that relationship, even now through social media. Even if Michu wasn't a big-shot, he had a high chance to become one. If this woman's schemes turned him into a toy, then all his hard work would be stolen in the future.

The thought of it pained Nana's heart and she shook her brother to wake him up from his stupor.
Michu just awkwardly laughed, "But she is really helpful and I hadn't felt any bad feelings…"
"You must've seen her melons close!" Nana wasn't that easily convinced.
"No, I haven't! I was actually pulled by her eyes! Those seemed like eyes belonging to a snake!" Michu replied!
"Oh my god!" Nana stood up, her body trembling. Her brother's sixth sense was more than 90% times on the spot and he couldn't be mistaken in this case.
There was a viper behind his back, waiting with its slithering body to snatch all his hard work!
Now, he had just one banana, but in the future, he would have a hundred more! "She would strike then!"
Michu just ruffled his hair from behind, "But she is really helpful… Did you know about subclasses, little sister?"
"I just read now…" Nana replied with her eyes on the floor.
"We also went to beat some monsters. It was funny and exciting! I am level six already, you know? Hehe"! Michu proudly puffed his chest out, but Nana blinked her eyes at this statement.
She then sat down, typed something on the keyboard, then turned the laptop screen to her brother's face.
"Look, big brother. You have just begun grinding your level. It's your first day and you are level six? Don't you think there is something suspicious?" Nana asked.
On the screen, Michu could see the guide for the beginners.
[The first ten levels are one of the hardest. You have to kill a lot, way too many monsters with your weak strength. It's because the developers want you to get used to the new world, its dangers, and fighting systems.]
"See?" Nana nodded languidly. She then opened one eye and glanced at Michu whose face was glued to the screen with beady eyes.

He looked like a cute monkey and his sister's lips turned into a triangle as she held herself back from commenting on it.
"Sister! Where are the subclasses? I want to learn about subclasses." Michu asked
"Don't ignore our previous topic!" Nana slapped the table, then scrolled with her mouse. On the page, the subclasses for beginners appeared and Michu began to read closely.
His sister commented, "He must've seen melons. Hmpf, I won't believe you otherwise, stupid brother."
After ten minutes of reading, Michu scratched his head and turned his eyes to Nana. She had been scribbling on her notebook but turned her eyes when Michu called her.
She asked with a dull tone, "Michu, did you finally understand more about subclasses?"
"Little sister, don't be that angry. I will be fine. We got a lot of levels because we were just fast when it came to killing monsters. And it would be weird if I just cut our relationship after so much fun," Michu replied.
Nana just sighed and said, "So what about subclasses? Have you found any idea?"
"I think farmer class is the way!" Michu crossed his arms and nodded a few times.
His sister added, "Unique class is a flexible one… For example, the warrior wouldn't benefit from farmer work that much other than stamina and strength stats I assume. But there should be better subclasses that give far more of those stats."
Michu nodded a few more times.
Nana continued, "But if it's you, then you can go for a farmer and get a lot of random stats from bananas! Those Monkey God's Bananas can also become your weapon in the future, so a proper farm is a must."
The farm sounded too good for Michu.
He would fulfill his goal and get a moneymaker banana farm that would not only give money for him, he also would enjoy some bananas to his heart's content.
His innocent laughter rang out, then Michu raised his arm, "I will do it! I can do it!"
"Yes, you can, Michu," Nana cheered him on, but then her words poured cold water on his face, "But it's only at level 25 and you have to make proper preparations."
"Ugh…" Michu's face distorted as if he ate a lemon.
In his mind, Venomous' words rang out, 'In this game, you can either be a grinding idiot who levels up and does all possible quests to his class or a player who thinks a few steps ahead and builds relationships with various people. You are clearly the first type, but want to be the second.'
"Michu?" Nana tilted her head, "What's wrong? Did you get a headache? I think we have medicine from mom's job…"
"No… No… It's okay, sister! Haha!" Michu glanced to the side, avoided his sister's gaze clearly, then decided to roll into the futon.
Nana stood up and said, "Have you faced preparations already?"
"Venomous said about these…" Michu's muffled voice rang out from the futon.
His sister massaged her forehead, "It's fine… You just need to become friends with the noble, get land and maintain it... " Nana stopped talking…
"Big brother…" After a minute or so, Nana shook the futon, "What's her ID on social media? I want to speak with that Venomous."

Dear Spellbook (Link to rewrite in blurb)
A rewrite of this story has been posted here: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/49881/dear-spellbook-a-fantasy-time-loop-rewrite Live. Study. Repeat. Tal is a sorcerer in a world where they are killed on sight, traveling with a man charged with carrying out the task. Every night Tal must pretend to study his spellbook to maintain his disguise as a Wizard’s Apprentice. If his disguise slips and his charade is uncovered, it will be his death. Seeking answers to mysteries that arose after his parent’s murder, Tal must accept any allies, no matter the risks, to uncover his family’s secret. But when he wakes up one morning to find himself trapped repeating the same day, he has to overcome his challenges all on his own. This story is an adaptation of a D&D campaign I ran but never was able to complete. I tried to capture the feel of a table-top RPG session —tropes and humor— without relying on the mechanics. This is not a litRPG or gamelit story and no D&D mechanics or system appear in the game. It follows one member of an adventuring party as he deals with the problems with that arise from being an adventurer. Namely, getting roped into adventures. The story has a time loop element, but will eventually move past that. This story explores the magic systems, the history, and the lore of the world through the lens of Tal's entries in his Spellbook and interludes from other written works in the world. New entries on Mondays Credit to JackOfHearts for the cover.
