The Mysterious Black Magician Chapter 144

"I-Is that Jura Gorthalion and Nicholas Senrod?" Asked Harou.
"Yes, Young sir," Replied Mus who was standing beside him.
In front of them, Jura and Nicholas were currently lying on the floor. However, both of them were seemingly unconscious. Both were breathing deeply.
On the contrary, there was a huge creature standing in front of the podium facing the door.
Harou didn't know what kind of creature it was since he wasn't the type who read books of history.
"What kind of monster is that?" He asked the person beside him. But what greeted him when he glanced was a shocked face while staring at the huge creature.
"T-That's a Demon Lord!" Shouted Mus with a scare on his face.
Not only him but also the others were looking at the creature in front with a scarred face. Especially after seeing the sorry state of the two experts from great families.
However, they noticed it didn't move.
"Fuh, good thing that it was only a statue," said one of the people with them.
Hearing him, Harou squinted his eyes.
The Demon Lord was standing-still. However, how did those two in such a state? Who was their enemy? Harou and the others doubted.
Then, the doubt they felt suddenly washed away when one of the participants with them noticed something.
"Look! Treasure chests!" Someone shouted upon noticing the three golden chests to the podium.
They looked through the gap of the huge creature's legs and saw three golden chests on the foot of the giant golden chair.
Some of them rushed over, without thinking of possible traps.
"Wait!!!" Harou tried to stop them. But at this moment, they disregard him as the leader after seeing the treasures. After all, first come first serve. Whoever gets a hold of the treasures first will be the owner.

After they arrive 25 meters away from the supposed statue, a burst of magical energy was reflected to everyone's eyes. Then multiple bodies immediately vanish. They were the bodies of those participants who rushed ahead.
Just then, the standing-still Demon Lord statue moves again.
"What the—" Harou mumbled but did not finish his words.
After seeing the state of Jura and Nicholas, he believed that there was something amiss in the place. But he wasn't expected that it was the statue in front that was responsible for it.
He forthwith ordered everyone to attack together. After hearing him, everyone summoned their magical attacks and attacked them at the same time.
Different colors of magical attacks rain towards the Demon Lord.
Yet the Demon Lord seemed to be unbothered by it. It used its hand to swing the sword 180 degrees.
It created a gust of scarlet wind and sucked all the attacks coming towards him.
Harou and the others gaped with wide eyes. Even Lyka who always had a stoic face showed a 'can't believe' kind of face.
"Young sir! I think we can't hit it if we attack at one point," Mus asserted.
Harou thought he was right. He then ordered, "Everyone surrounds it!"
All the remaining participants followed without arguing. They rushed to surround it. Then they resumed their attacks. The Demon lord sent another scarlet gust of wind. However, this time some attacks managed to land it.
"Woohoo! We got it!" One of the participants shouted.
"Take this! And this!" Another one was enjoying while raining attack to the pitiable copy of the Demon Lord.
Although it looks scary and huge, what can this thing do? It can't even protect itself.
"Hahaha! Eat this -Consecutive Wind Strikes-!"
Everyone shouted their spell's name. The whole room enveloped by explosion whenever the magical attacks coming from the participants landed on the Demon Lord.

Harou and Mus shot with their magical attacks as well.
Lyka summoned a Spirit Beast, a Winged-Wildcat. It is black. Even its wings were black. With the eyes of a predator and sharp razor-like claws. It was bigger as well, about 7 meters tall if it was standing on four limbs.
Without wasting time, (woosh!) Lyka hopped on top of it. After she landed on top, the Winged-Wildcat's feet exuded an azure aura that looks like flames. Then it leaped into the air.
(Flap flap flap…) It flew together with her. Seeing it from another's perspectives, it looks like it was running in mid-air.
Before it reached the ceiling, it suddenly made a turn and rushed towards the Demon Lord while sending 3 consecutive masses of azure energies from its mouth. It was followed by,
(Bang bang bang!) loud explosions reverberated inside the room.
Lyka also shot with her magical attacks.
Because of the pressure from the combined attacks, the bricks from the ceiling were started to fall.
Lyka and her Spirit Beast were flying without stopping their attacks. And on the ground, the attacks were also unceasing.
At the moment, the Demon Lord was covered in smoke caused by the explosions.
Everyone only stopped their attacks when they noticed the Demon Lord finally stopped in summoning the scarlet gust of wind.
At the moment, it was covered by smoke. Alas, they could not tell if it was alive or dead.
They decided to stop their attacks to check if whether it was still alive or not.
However, when they stopped their attacks,
ROOOOOOAAAARRR!!! The Demon Lord roared in an earth-shattering intensity sounds.
Everyone covered their ears. Lyka almost fell from its Spirit Beast. Good thing that the Winged-Wildcat managed to land in time.
The surrounding smoke on it was washed away by the pressure from its shout.
They used every means to brace themselves from the pressure.
Harou used his hand to cover his face, while Lyka was being protected by her Spirit Beast.
A moment when the roaring of the Demon Lord stopped, they heard loud thumping sounds with the additional ground trembling.
Harou peeked in the gaps of his fingers and saw the charging Demon Lord.
Then it was followed by sounds of gushing air. After the gushing sounds, grieving cries from other participants went in his ears.
Harou saw it. When the Demon Lord brandished his weapon, about ten people abruptly turned into light particles after their grieving yelped.
'Damn! It's so strong!'

Is it a mistake to challenge fate, after all? *** The world-building is set upon on the universal scale, with dungeon and old-style fantasy. It has a progression that follows with the consistency of a dungeon setting, although it's not what you call a dungeon, but a function of a crystal. There's a lot to take in this novel, but that's all within my intention. I have always enjoyed challenging conventional ideas. The cover is not mine, it's just temporary.
