The Mysterious Black Magician Chapter 96

Everyone had their mouths almost dropped onto the floor as they stared at the newcomers.
None of them were able to react for a second.
A moment later, "How did it happen?" Ella subconsciously muttered.
Followed by Hannah, "Where did that scary high-level skill go?"
"Why did it suddenly disappear like nothing was there in the first place?" Some random people around also muttered in puzzlement.
Most of them had questions, but none had the answer.
Even the Royal Knight-Captain Borge Bergal couldn't understand what just happened. Although what Vince The Menace did was surprising, that young man did something beyond that. Or perhaps the Lightning Emerald Dragon disappeared before it reached that person. The only thing that baffled him was the brief spark of crimson energy in that person's hand. Although the spark of crimson energy happened in a split second, it didn't skip at his perception.
Unaware of the situation, the newly entered Yman narrowed his eyes and muttered, "What a greeting..."
Never would he imagine that after opening the door he was greeted rudely.
He scanned the room and noticed some unusual people.
Ahead of him, near the counter, he noticed several people staring at him. He was baffled by the bemused expressions on their faces. 'Hmm... what's going on here? It seems there is an argument happening,' he thought when he noticed a young man in an elegant dress wearing an angry expression on his face. As of the moment, that young man was staring at him with knit brows.
It didn't come to his mind that the angry face was for him, because in front of that young man there was a burly person towering over that young man.
The golden energy that enveloped that burly person's hand caught his attention. It was so dense and suffocating.
If Yman compared this person's energy. It was clear that this person was way stronger than the soldiers in the City of Zone 7.
Yman didn't give any regards to it as he was here for his essential matters.
He darted his eyes and it landed on two beautiful young girls, seeing them — he changed his initial thought and believed that the weird scene in the room was involved by those girls.
Well, in such a place like this that could only be described as a wolf den. It was an inappropriate place for them since many men would probably tease them.
He also noticed some warriors wearing heavy silver armors and a knight wearing a distinct heavy golden armor. Yman assumed that these people might be from a distinct high profile family.
However, he didn't know much about the nobles

of this empire. Or the people of the palace. So he only assumed they were not ordinary noble since they brought some knights with them.
From behind him, Sistela peeked and asked,
Yman tilted his head, "I thought I just saw a stray cat with a body of a snake rapidly running towards me the second I opened the door," He replied while looking at his hand.
His voice was neither loud nor low, just enough that most of the people inside could hear it.
"....."
Gilion was speechless after hearing him.
Vince on the other hand broke into a chuckle. But he was curious as to who this person was.
Sistela was confused about what kind of animal he meant. A high breed? In any case, she didn't care for the inevitable things such as a lost pet. she replied to him.
"Yeah. But don't mind it, let's go and order some take out," Yman beckoned.
Suddenly, Sistela remembered their recent conversation,
Yman's mouth opened to form a voiceless chuckle. He was perplexed. It had already been 2 weeks since they arrived here, and his money was barely enough to pay the rent for an Inn, and also he needed to buy foods to feed himself.
With shoulders dropped, he opened his mouth saying, "There's nothing we can do about it. Most of the quests in the mission tab were all low tiers and low pays. It seems we need a friendly connection with the guild's clerks to reserve us a high-tier mission."
Sistela crossed her arms,
His mouth opened broader and let a sigh escaped from it, "It's not even my fault. They tried to pick a fight on a newbie like me. And I only give them a little beating. Wasn't I generous for showing mercy?"
Sistela landed on his shoulder and gave up the conversation. She mumbled which Yman did not hear.
The two of them were walking towards the counter, disregarding the dumbfounded expressions on the face of the people around them.
Only their voice and steeping sounds were audible at the moment. And the gnashing of teeth coming from Gilion together with the chuckle of Vince.
Everyone was watching the human with a System Deity in tow, talking casually like nothing happened. Wait, is he a human? But they noticed his ears slightly pointed.
Suddenly a murmur broke out.
"Wait, he seemed to be familiar to me for some reason," someone among the crowd said.
"Hey, hey, isn't he the fierce newbie?" Said the person wearing leather armor and two scabbards was in 'X' shape on his back.
The person beside him slightly frowned but when he took a clear view of that person that his friend was talking about, his eyes slightly widened, "I-It's him! He's that newbie who defeated 5 silver rank adventurers when he first came to the guildhall!" Exclaimed the person wearing moss-colored leather armor. It was paired with a basil-colored pointed hat and a cape.

The others started whispering to each other.
"A newbie who defeated a 5 silver rank adventurer?"
"Yeah, I heard something like that the other day."
"So it was him..."
"I also heard that in his first mission, he soloed the encampment of the bandit group. Although he didn't kill them, all of the bandits surrendered."
"What? Did that really happen?"
"Do you think I'm a liar?"
"The heck, then he's an irregular newbie!"
"Cool, he's also a newbie like me!" Exclaimed the innocent-looking guy.
Hearing what the other people whispering around, Vince and his men sneered at this famous newbie, "Heeeh, so he was that newbie I heard about..."
Vince muttered in exhilaration.
"Kekekeke..." His buddies chuckled weirdly.
Yman was wondering why it suddenly became noisy.
When he passed by the group of the people wearing nice dresses, he heard one of them utter the words, "C-Cat...with the snake body...?" He gave a quick glance at the person.
He noticed his twisting face and a pulse in cross-shaped appeared on his forehead.
Gilion Gustav couldn't believe it! Never had anyone looked down on this ability of his! He understood that it was slapped by this person in front of him like it was nothing. After all, this person named Vince was an expert. But it doesn't mean he didn't have a way to defeat him.
Nonetheless, this person who just arrived called his high-level technique as a mere 'cat head with the body of a snake!'
Gilion's face turned sour, "A cat head with snake body.....?!" He repeated.
Yman heard again the mutter from the guy with a handsome face, long milky white hair braided at the back of his head, and pointed ears. And he was wearing a white long dress embroidered with gold.
However, he disregarded it and directly passed at the two beautiful young girls. His eyes met with the eyes of the girl with shoulder-length snow-like hair and beautiful eyes.
Yman couldn't help admiring her beauty. Ella on the other hand was puzzled. The Lighting Emerald Dragon still lingering in her mind. 'What did this person do?' She was in thought. She wanted to ask him but her tongue seemed to retreat when she saw his indifferent gaze.
For her, he gave a feeling that he doesn't care about everything around him. Like a very portrait of a man staring to a faraway horizon.
The meeting of their eyes happened for a moment only.
Yman startled the still in a daze Bunnygirl when he opened his mouth and ordered food, "Miss, A medium slice of rank B Ram beef with a salty sauce. And please add a soup," he directly said to the counter.
"E-Eh?!"
Seeing the handsome man in front of her, the Bunnygirl was at a loss for a second.
Then she said, "O-Okay sir, right away!" She then hastily took what he wanted.
Yman scratched the back of his head but froze when he felt an ill intent coming from his back.
He took a glance and saw the handsome man with his body exuding emerald energy.
But it was spoiled when,
"That's enough, Gilion Gustav. Remember why we came here."
"The Royal Knight-Captain is right Gilion!" Ella added.
Yman saw the man wearing heavy golden armor placed his hand on the handsome young man's shoulder and said those words. And the beautiful lady agreed to that person she called Knight-Captain.
The ill intent bothered him. There's no way he mistook it. After signing a contract with that demon. His perception of any bad intentions towards him had increased greatly. Right now, that demon's spirit was lurking inside his Hollow Cell.
Yman learned the signing contract technique from the grimoire.
Well, the demon didn't want to disappear. So for now, he had to cooperate with this human, until he retrieved his body.
Yman on the other hand did the contract to help him in his journey of searching the medicine for his sister.
Nevertheless,
Gilion's pride got the better of him. After all, he was from the renowned family of Gustav. If the news that he didn't punish the person who slandered the technique from the Gustav family reached the ears of their family elders. Gilion would certainly lose his face in the family. And he might be branded as a coward to the other family members.
"Hey, you! I Challenge you into a duel!" He roared while pointing his finger to Yman.
Vince on the contrary broke into a smile. "Hehehe, let me join."
Ella and the others tried to stop Gilion, but it seemed like, for him, his pride was on the line.
The people around were astonished by this turn of events.
Yman and Sistela on the other hand had indifferent faces. In their minds, 'What the heck is this?! We just came here to buy food, you know!'

The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The Consensus said that it would let us interact with our neighbors in a controlled setting. That it would teach us to be better members of the galactic community. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke. Magic, supernatural abilities and rumors exploded from nothing and a subscription to The Tower of Somnus became a status symbol. Katherine ‘Kat’ Debs doesn’t have much, but it could be worse.
