The Mysterious Black Magician Chapter 40

When they entered the shop, a "Ting!" sound rang alerting the people inside of some visitors or costumers stepping in.
Which followed by, "Welcome kid!" A greeting from a man sitting in a relaxed posture on the back of the counter in a slightly hoarse voice. Which his two legs on top of something and leaning his back on a softback of a chair.
But Yman could not see the man's face, because his head that was facing the ceiling was covered by a straw hat. The shirt he was wearing slightly loose up to his chest where the bulging naked stomach as round as ball in full view. And a diety was comfortably cushioning on top of it.
"Mhm..."
Yman just nodded with a little deep sound to his throat. Emphasizing his appreciation from the greeting.
"???" On the contrary, Sistela floated near the man while question marks floated above her head as she was staring at the man and his deity with doubt.
She might be wondering why such a person had the same body as her. Maybe this person was the mother of all System Deities. (LoL)
Yman's mouth leaked a forced smile.
Then he walked to the sword area leaving Sistela on the counter. Swords in different designed and sizes were lined on top of a table covered by dark-colored clothes besides their scabbard. The sword shined as the yellow illumination of light reflected on its blade.
He took one of the swords and thought, |It was a well-made sword.| Then he checked the name of a smith who made the sword, he picked the scabbard after noticing that no marks of sword-smith on the blade itself, good thing that it was written on the scabbard.
"SarSmith..." he mumbled as he read the name of the swordsmith. He's not really proficient enough in using a sword. Since he was only 5 years old when his teacher taught him some basic sword techniques.

From all his teaching, the words that deeply marks in his mind was to always appreciate the name of the smith who made the weapon.
The man behind the counter made a slight movement after hearing his mumble. He seemed to be peeking under the straw hat that was covering his face.
"!!!"
Sistela seemed to be startled by it and hastily flew to Yman's side.
Yman was not really chossy of weapon. After all, he was not a master of a specific weapon. Any weapon was fine with him as long as it could help him in the battle.
Yman opened his Cyber Screen and summoned a cursor, then he pointed it to one of the swords. It was followed by a window display that appeared in front of his face.
[Silver Sword]
Rank Common
Atack + 20
"The sword that saves one's life is a fine sword no matter it was edgeless." Such a description was written on the sword details. Yman thought that this quote might be hiding deep meaning.
He suddenly remembered something. His teacher used to tell him before that, "a wooden weapon that can save one's life is better than a divine weapon that chooses its wielder."
These two quotes seemed to be connected to each other. He thought. But quickly pushed this thinking at the back of his mind.
The Silver Sword was about 1 meter long. He thought that it might be difficult to wield inside a tight area such as a tunnel. But really, he wasn't sure if the area he would be going to hunt had such a lack of space.
Of course, he rather not chose such a place to fight.
He glanced at the price located in front of where the sword placed.
500 GP was written on the price tag. No need to checked his Wallet Section in Cyber Screen, he already knew that his current money was at most 5,700.50 GP. Last time he upgraded Sistela twice.

Actually, like the owner, the deity would also learn some helpful skills when they were upgraded to a certain level. At most at level 1, 10, 20, 30...etc....
Yeah, Yman's Rapid Leap was not his personal ability, it was his deity's skill. He could train himself to execute the skill better than others. But he could not upgrade it through training. This deity's skill could only be ascended through upgrading the deity itself.
That's the reason why Yman was upgrading his deity twice last time. Since every level also gave 1 skill point. So right now, his Rapid Leap skill was at level 3. And its cooldown time drops at 3.5 seconds. While the amount of mana needed also lowered.
Whereas, the Mini Heal (self-healing magic) was a gift from the academy together with his deity. It was a scroll at first. But after absorbing the magical scribble inside to his body, the magician then able to learn the type of magic written on it. If he could not learn it at the given time, it also means he was not qualified to be a magician.
This was one of the exams he went through on that evaluation exam back on the Outerworld.
Of course, inside the ability scroll that gifted from the academy were of low tier magic only. But the price wasn't cheap if someone bought it with their own money.
In any case, the effect of skill could be improved through training.
Actually, any magician could manifest mana without the help of resonance with the deity.
But it wasn't advisable.
Since low-level magician's body could not handle the negative mana that was exuding from their Magician's Seed(Hollow Cell).
They needed a breakthrough until their body could stand alone from the negative mana of Magician's Seed.
And being in resonance with the deities comes with many benefits. One of them was fast chanting. With the help of deities, they could manifest their mana at ease. No need to go to the process of nature bending.
Like for example, a magician who was a fire user. In order to avoid burning himself with its own fire magic. One must tamper his body to acquire such fire resistance. To succeed, he/she first would become a lab-rat and be the subject of repeated tests.
That's why if they wished to use their abilities without going such a hurdle, they only needed to resonance with their deity first.
There was even an incident that a magician of level 20 lost his sanity after forcing his way of using his own mana without the resonance with a deity.
In the end, he murdered the parents of a family. That family's 2 children becomes an orphan as a result.
And that certain magician goes into hiding. Until now, no one knew what happened to him. But rumors bound to exist. Some said that that magician becomes a demon. And some say he died after he suffered mana exhaustion. No one really knew the truth of what happened to that person after he flees from the scene...
However, what he did that time birthed a great desire from a certain person. After all... 'hatred is the best fertilizer to nourish a great desire.'
