The Mysterious Black Magician Chapter 20

Gritted his teeth, he was holding his sword firmly with his sweating hands. Again, pointing the tip of the sword to the sky; after permitted a huge sudden breath from his mouth, the sword once again was surging with fire.
All around him, the monsters pouncing their massive body at him. He noticed his health points rapidly decreasing. Thanks to his Mana Membrane ability, the damages he took were not too high. But before his health points reached zero, his eyes glinted with fighting spirit. A moment later...
Meteor Blast!
Kiko shouted the name of the skill and successfully used it this time.
After he shouted, a loud bang was heard by everyone; smokes and clouds of dust hovered in all directions surrounding him forming like a ring, then it expanded in an instant like an invisible force that pushed back all of the monsters that hoarding him.
It was a strong downward strike onto the ground. Which generates a mini shockwave to knock-back all of the enemies within the radius of 5 meters away surrounding him. And it plows the ground in a line for about 10 meters.
Minus (-50) health points for those who got hit by the mini shockwaves and minus (-100) health points were visibly taken from those who got hit by the explosion at his front which causes the ground to cave-in for 10 meters distance.
This was the skill belonging to his Earth-Crushing Technique. At the moment, he only had this one at this category or rather in this Skill Tree.
It usually has high damage because of its explosiveness. But none of the monsters had died, because the damage had been divided depending on how many targets took the attack.
The shockwave happened in just an instant, and after it, the cloud of dust cleared in just a matter of second. The surrounding was cleared again. But a large pit was visible on the ground which was the center that received the full brunt of the force from his attack.

Since Yman kept on delivering monsters at him, the monster hoarded him like ants that were attracted to sweets.
After using the skill, his mana dried up because of how massive mana that he had used when he activated the skill. He suddenly felt weak and groggy after using it. After all, he was just level 3 at the moment.
Regardless, he was cursing that person. He would definitely get back at him later.
In the end, he had to eat his pride and chose to give up. That person was just too shameless, thick-skinned.
Good thing that he was able to think rationally this time. Because if he did not give up he would certainly die in just a matter of time, that— if his pride continued getting the better of him.
Without him knowing, he was able to harbor favorable reactions from all of the instructors watching him. Five of them immediately rushed to rescue him. They could not let such a talented trainee injure himself.
Everyone was feeling helpless at him. No matter what he did, that other person was just too shameless, he kept on bringing another monster at him. It just a matter of time that his health points would have reached zero if he did not give up.
...
Yman somehow had no idea what they were thinking at the moment. He doesn't care about them. He was to focus on what he was currently thinking.
He continued doing what he originally planned to do. Now that he was able to pay those people, he had to try his luck in killing some of these monsters.
At the corner of his eyes, he noticed that person who pushed him this morning at the auditorium. It looks like he recovered already. And now, he was sending piercing glances at him.

Currently, Yman was tying up the rope on a boulder that was on the edge of the cliff. He was tying it in a loop manner. Then he ran towards the forest and changed course to his right while simultaneously dropping the rope on its way.
After running for a few seconds, he turned to his right again and ran towards the cliff, then tied the opposite end of the rope to the other boulder that was also on the edge of the cliff.
Now the rope formed like the letter 'U' on the ground. Where the opening was facing the cliff.
Some trainees were still fighting around the field but they were outside his rope range.
The spectators watching him wondering what he was doing. But they felt something out of the ordinary already.
Even the instructors could not fathom this trainee. His way of fighting was different from everyone. He doesn't even have any attacking spell.
"That person is about to empty his stamina," Kesha voiced out with a mocking face.
Almina furrowed her brows, "yeah, I felt it too. Someone who doesn't have mana will eventually drain their stamina faster than someone that does."
"Hmph, that's what he got for being an assuming person. He's not even strong, but he did some bad things with the other trainees. What a disgusting person." Kesha as she shook her head and sighed inwardly.
Hearing her best friend's remarks, Almina's lips curled downward. "H-He's not like what you think..." She muttered although Kesha did not hear it.
After muttering it, a scene has been played in her mind once again. The same scene that happened on that day when she saw him. It was a scene from her childhood. About a lone boy sitting in the park while looking up to the tree—.
But the scene was cut when someone among the crowd cried out. "Eh, what's that guy trying to do?" Another person pointed out, "look, he was pushing the boulder!"
"Looks like he was trying to push that boulder down the cliff?" Instructor Goki stated which causes the other instructors to furrow their brows and smiled bitterly. Then he thought, 'but— what is his purpose in doing that? Wait-- don't tell me he's trying to drag those monsters off of the cliff...' Instructor Goki was surprised upon realizing this.
The other instructors don't like that person or that trainee who uses his dirty tricks to outdo the others and hurt them at the same time.
He was the bad guy in their perspective. A vile person for them. He doesn't even have mana, so it was useless to train him. No matter what he did, he won't be a strong magician in the future. At most, he would be a little stronger than an ordinary person.
In any case, they noticed that his skill was healing magic and Rapid Leap. He could be a healer in the future but he would never be a vital person in this academy. Since, there were more healers that had better healing magic than him and had high mana capacity; compared to him who had none.
Even if he trained himself like a madman. He could not learn any good skills, because most of them needed high mana in order to use the full force.

With the end of the only war to ever reach mainland Australia I found myself living out of a small room in an old military compound that had been handed over to the jurisdiction of the Department of Veterans Affairs. The end of the war, unfortunately, didn't mean the end of hostilities. The terrorism trend that had started back in the early 2000's with the attack on the world trade center over in America, had spread to just about every country on the face of the planet. Over time the constant threat from various groups meant the civilian police force was quickly undermanned, under equipped, and overwhelmed. They were simply unable to respond to the daily threats in any reasonable time frame, and in many situations lacked the both the skills and equipment required to deal with the threats to put them down in a 'safe' and expedient manner. Veterans of the war that were being reintegrated into society however, were just about everywhere, all the time. We have the training and the skills required to deal with just about any threat you care to mention, all we needed was access to the equipment to do so. In a world first, under the new Veterans program, the Australian government had taken the rather controversial step of allowing specifically selected veterans to go armed in public. Sure, with Australian weapons laws being very, very strict there were a number of hurdles to get over first, but that's where the selection part comes in. Tangentially that's actually how I met Brianna, my current partner. We work as ringers in Victory City, I thought being thrown into imptomtu combat operations and risking my life on a daily basis for barely livable wages was excitement enough. Then I met her... it... I don't know. An AI unlike anything else out there has wedged itself into my life and decided it needs to... look after me. What could possibly go wrong? **** This is the first book I have released, and my first entry into a cyberpunk universe. There is minimal drug use, a fair amount of sex, a bit of gory violence, and a sultry AI that has decided the main character needs a harem.
