World Magic: I Awakened Light And Dark Magic Attributes Chapter 1

Kyrenia, St. Peter's High School, Grade 4, Class 6.
"The awakening of the mage talents will be happening soon. I hope I can awaken an A-grade rare magical element."
"You? An A-grade rare magical elemental? St. Peter's High School has not had a rare magical elemental for many years, let alone an A-grade."
"Hehe, I'll be satisfied as long as I awaken as a C-grade magical elemental."
"That's right, being a C-grade magical elemental is enough for us to become mages."
...
The students in the classroom were discussing excitedly, and Hughes, who was sitting next to the back window, was also very nervous.
It has been nineteen years since he first reincarnated to this world, and he had only a rough understanding of this world.
This was the Blue Planet, and its historical development was roughly the same as Earth's.
But two hundred years ago, magic sprouted out of nowhere. Thus, special energy called magic energy suddenly emerged across the globe.
Under the influence of this special energy, animals quickly evolved into highly aggressive magical beasts one after another and then began to attack the human world.
It was the first time humans fought against magical beasts, and in despair, they discovered that the thermal weapons they usually used did not affect the magical beasts much.
Therefore, at the beginning of the war, humans suffered heavy casualties, and some weak countries were completely engulfed by the surging beast tide.
After decades of fumbling, someone finally discovered the opportunity and help that magical energy provided to humans.
It turned out that humans and animals had different structures. They could not directly evolve through magical energy, but they could control the magical energy in the world for their own use through the awakening of magical elements.
And people who had awakened magic elements were collectively known as mages.
With the popularization of this method of evolution, a large number of mages appeared like bamboo shoots after a night of rain.

It was because of this that humans gradually stood firm and resisted the attacks of the magical beasts, and one had lasted until now.
These were what Hughes had learned over the years.
"Hey, Hughes, are you nervous?"
His deskmate, Blair, looked at the silent Hughes and asked, "Aren't you nervous? This is a crucial moment that will determine your future."
Hughes glanced at his deskmate, Blair, and said in an unpleasant tone, "The awakening of magical elements could only be carried out after one had reached the age of 19."
And today was the day that the country set the date for the awakening of magical elements.
"Students, it's almost time for the awakening of magical elements in our class."
"For this awakening, everyone should treat it with a casual attitude and strive to awaken their magic elements," said Bill, the homeroom teacher.
"Teacher, what if I'm a little nervous?"
"Nervous my ass! At worst, you'll fail the awakening. You won't even die if you can't become a mage!"
"That's true, but I still want to become a mage!"
...
After hearing the teacher's voice, everyone in class six couldn't help but become nervous.
Even Hughes could feel his heart beating faster.
Soon, Bill, the homeroom teacher, led the entire class six filled with seniors to the Hall of Awakening.
In the spacious awakening hall, there were quite many idle people from St. Peter's high school who were here to awaken their magical element. After all, in this day and age, most people had been training since they were young for this moment. Just so that they could become famous after awakening their magic elements.
Upon entering the Awakening Hall, Hughes was immediately attracted to the tall instrument placed in the center of the hall.
The instrument was about three meters tall, with black and red colors lining its exterior. It was like a giant steel beast standing in the middle of the Hall of Awakening.

As he walked in, he saw a dent in the center of the instrument. A transparent crystal ball the size of a basketball was placed inside and black cables were connected to it.
Beside the instrument, a tall middle-aged man that emitted a strong aura stood there.
This man was the dean of St. Peter's High School, Eugene, who was in charge of the awakening ceremony.
"Eugene, everyone from class six is here."
Bill said in awe.
Eugene was second-in-command only to the principal of St. Peter's High School, and she was a high-level mage.
She was only one step away from becoming a grand mage.
In St. Peter's High School, where most people were ordinary people, such a strong person was naturally respected by Bill and everyone else.
"Yes!"
Eugene nodded and looked around at everyone, then, she used her magic powers to amplify her voice and said, "Class four has just completed the awakening ceremony. There is one student who has obtained the fire element, two students who have obtained the water element, two students who have obtained the wind element, and three students who have obtained the Earth element."
"Among them, there is one student whose fire element talent is rated as an A. I hope your class's performance is better than theirs."
"What? Someone actually awakened an A-grade fire elemental talent?"
"Oh my god, what kind of luck is this!"
"Hiss, an A-grade fire elemental talent. With that result, he should be able to enter any of the top mage universities in the country!"
"Almighty God! Please let me awaken an A-grade elemental talent too."
Immediately, many of the students were envious.
Standing in the middle of the group, Hughes was also slightly surprised.
The elemental awakening of a mage was divided into four common categories: Wind, fire, water, and earth, as well as thunder, ice, light, and dark.
But even if they were the same type of magical element, there were also differences in strength, so people used magical talent to distinguish.
The level of magical talent was also divided into C-rank, B-rank, A-rank, S-rank, and SS-rank.
The higher the grade of magical talent, the better the potential.
A-grade of fire elemental talent was considered rare.
"Okay, everyone pays attention to maintain a good mentality when you awaken."
"Line up in single files according to your student number," Bill instructed and then ordered the students to line up.
The elemental awakening of a mage was not complicated. They only needed to activate the magic elements in their body through the crystal in the center of the awakening device.
"Number 1, George."
Bill, the homeroom teacher, read.
Then, a skinny boy walked up and placed his hand on the crystal in the middle of the device.
For a while, there was no reaction on the crystal.
"George, no elemental ability."
Hearing the cold voice of the device, George's face instantly turned pale and he walked down from the device in a daze.
"Sigh!"
Hughes and the other students of class six sighed when they saw this.
This result was also the result of most of the people present.
As time passed, one by one, the students walked forward and began the elemental awakening.
Very soon, it would be Hughes's turn.
"Number 16, Hughes."
Hearing the voice of his homeroom teacher, Bill, Hughes took a deep breath and slowly walked onto the instrument.
"Ding ~ Detected that the host is in the process of awakening magical elements. Mage god system activated."
"Activation successful. Novice gift bag in hand."
"Light attribute SS grade talent released. Awaiting awakening."
"Dark attribute SS grade talent released. Awaiting awakening."
Just as Hughes was about to step onto the stage, the system's voice sounded!

Artwork by Kayla Basciano - Instagram: vulpix1323 Inspired primarily by the systems in The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound, The Genesis System, and The New World as well as by Savage Divinity, Azarinth Healer, and Shovels in Spades in general. I haven't been able to get these worlds out of my head and I've been waiting for something to fill the void left by the hiatus of Genesis, but so far nothing has scratched that itch as much as ProfoundMagician was able to with the world he created. I figure if I'm going to be thinking about this stuff as much as I do I might as well get better at writing while playing with a number of those ideas that I love. I have a number of specifics and events I want to show in the story, but a lot of the fun is coming up with ways to branch those together cohesively. This is an attempt to alleviate my depression by channeling my creativity into a hobby. Hopefully it's as enjoyable to read as it is to write.
