Feng Tianlan bowed her head slightly and responded in a gentle voice, “Eunuch De . ”
“I have come with a question from the emperor . Do you intend to marry Governor Shizi?”
Eunuch De ignored Feng Xiang completely and spoke only to Feng Tianlan . To him, Feng Xiang was scum and had no right to talk to him .
“I do not have such intentions,” she replied .
Feng Tianlan was slightly puzzled by the emperor’s interference . Feng Xiang was also taken aback by this, wondering why the emperor always protected Feng Tianlan . At the same time, there was a flash of anger on his face . He was angry that this idiot emperor was interfering with his family matters and messing up his plans . Eunuch De was pleased to see Feng Tianlan’s expressionless face and nodded . Then, he took out an edict from the palace .
He said, “Besides Feng Tianlan, all others must kneel and receive the imperial edict . ”
There was another flash of hate on Feng Xiang’s face as he begrudgingly kneeled with his head tilted to one side in defiance . Eunuch De cast him a disdainful glance but didn’t comment, instead, he read the edict: “Feng Tianlan is an outstanding lady, and it has been agreed between the emperor and her late mother that she shall decide about her marriage for herself . This matter is not to be forced upon her by anybody else . ”
After reading, Eunuch De placed the edict at Feng Tianlan’s feet . Then, he straightened his body and said to Feng Xiang imposingly, “Feng Head Clan, I hope you understand?”
“I understand,” Feng Xiang replied through clenched teeth .
This edict meant that there would be no marriage with the Ding Nation courthouse, nor was he allowed to arrange any other marriage for Feng Tianlan . He couldn’t understand why the emperor kept shielding Feng Tianlan .

Eunuch De couldn’t be bothered with Feng Xiang . He said respectfully to Feng Tianlan, “Your humble servant will now return to the palace . ”
“Wait a moment,” Feng Tianlan called out . She took out a ceramic bottle from the Pill Scroll Realm and passed it to him . “I see that you don’t seem well, so this is medicine for you . Please send my regards to the emperor as well . ”
Even though she had only seen the emperor once at the Sparring Arena, he had helped her twice now . As long as someone was truly kind to her, she would be truly kind to them, too .
Eunuch De received the bottle with thanks and bowed . “Thank you, Eldest Miss of the Feng family . ” After that he turned and said somewhat mockingly, “Feng Clan Head, let me know if you still need to do some grave digging or flog a corpse . I’ll send people to help . ”
Feng Xiang saw that Eunuch De treated Feng Tianlan with such respect but dared to mock him . Feng Xiang just pretended to smile and said, “Eunuch De has gotten on in years and heard wrongly . ”
He was just a servant, but he dared to be so rude . He deserved to die! Eunuch De merely scoffed and didn’t continue this topic . Instead, he bowed to Feng Tianlan again and left .
“Nobody is to interfere with who I marry!” Feng Tianlan waved the edict in her hands as she saw Feng Xiang’s angry expression and said nicely, “It’s too bad that I don’t have the privilege of getting such a good match as the governor . I’ll leave him for someone as blessed as my third sister . That way, the folks from Ding Nation can still come tomorrow . ”
Xu Jiayi’s face darkened, but he still tried to persuade Feng Tianlan, “We’ve already agreed on the marriage, so it’s not nice to back out of it now . For the sake of the Feng family reputation, marry him tomorrow . It’s not as if the edict says you can’t marry him . ” This marriage plan had been about to go through without a hitch, but the emperor had interfered and messed everything up .

Feng Tianlan scoffed and waved the edict in their faces . She said, “You can marry him yourselves; I’m not marrying him . ” Then, she turned and left .
Feng Xiang was about to vomit blood from anger . He clenched his teeth and exclaimed, “Si Ming!”
