My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s Chapter 155

Chapter 155
“Gram” .
The man introduced himself as such and smiled .
This was the guy who summoned the demons to Brute Dungeon to try and abduct Amelia, tried to sell Amelia who won the pageant in pieces, and killed Kurou’s younger sister .
He did none of them directly and the ones relating to Amelia were only attempts, but even so, there’s no doubt that we were affected by them .
If it was the me on a normal day, I would’ve just pressed this guy for his side of the story, but it seems that this was not the time to be saying such things .
How do we get out of here .
If possible, it would be best to leave peacefully .
Perhaps it was because I instinctively rejected this guy, that I felt that his countenance was loud and garish, but in any case, I didn’t want to look directly at him .
I didn’t want her to see that kind of face, so I stood in front of Amelia .
「Oya, who are you? I’m speaking with Amelia-sama though . 」
This time, those eyes turned towards me who hid Amelia behind me .
I got goosebumps .
It was unusual for me to dislike someone so much .
I didn’t even hate the teacher who taught the incomprehensible class, or the teacher who kept yelling this much .
When I stood there without speaking, Gram looked at my attire and then clapped his hands together .
「I see, you are Amelia-sama’s escort . Then, thanks for your hard work up until now . You can take it easy and even go back home . 」
What was this guy saying .
I had no intentions of denying that I was her escort, but the problem was the words that he said afterwards .
The way he said that, it was as if he was trying to tell me that he would be with her from now on, and that I had already served my purpose .
「Ha?」
The sound that came out of my mouth was so low, that it surprised even me .
It made Raul and Kelia, who were next to me, tremble .
It was only a little bit, but it seems that I hadn’t reigned in my bloodlust .
Unfortunately, it was like Gram couldn’t sense it at all, and he continued in the same tone with a faint smile on his face .
「What, you haven’t gotten your reward? How much did the elven king say that he would give you? I will pay double, so you have already served your purpose . To begin with, how did you get acquainted with Amelia-sama with your social standing as a human? With your body?」
It seems that this guy also thought that humans were of a lower status than him .
There was no one else more annoying than a person who thought that they were always correct .
And, there was no way that Raul was going to stay quiet when he heard those words that insult me .
「Watch your mouth . Even if you’re the guildmaster, I won’t let you insult the ‘Assassin of Darkness’-sama who came to this world through the hero summoning . 」
He went to the front and puffed out his chest with pride, as he courteously gave an explanation about me .
However, it would’ve been good if he didn’t say it .
There was an obvious change in the color of Gram’s eyes .

「He is a hero-sama who came here through the hero summoning? That’s strange . 」
「What is . 」
Sensing something, I finally opened my mouth and asked .
「From what I’ve heard, the hero-samas had only left Retice Castle once, and that was when they headed to Continent Dungeon . After that, they stayed inside the castle and never left again, that was what I heard though? Why is this hero-sama here? Is it because you wanted to kill the demon king?」
The successive generations of heroes had contributed to the development of this world .
Among them, there were heroes who didn’t defeat the demon king as well, but even so, it was definite that they did something that benefited the people of this world .
The things in this world like the camera, all things in this world that seemed somewhat strange, were things that the heroes brought out into this world .
However, we didn’t do anything ever since we had been summoned, and other than the hero and his group and me, the others refused to fight, so they were thought of by the humans as “good-for-nothings” .
In actuality, that information was not wrong .
We came to this world and learned how to fight, only going to the Continent Dungeon .
However, they did not know just how outrageous a hero summoning was .
We came from a peaceful world, and did not know how to fight .
They think that it was normal for the heroes to do everything for their sake .
They did not know just how selfish they were .
「Firstly, I was summoned here, but I’m not the hero . Also, we will not kill the demon king . 」
「You’re not the hero, huh . However, what are you saying . Heroes that are summoned kill the demon king . That goes without saying, and it’s the principle of this world . 」
Why do the people of this world make other people do the things that they themselves can’t do .
I would understand it if they asked for assistance from the bottom of their hearts, if they were truly troubled .
However, in actuality, the king of Retice who asked us to defeat the demon king only intended to use us .
We were not dolls that just obeyed orders .
We had emotions, as well as repulsion towards killing people .
That’s why he used the princess and tried to put a curse on us .
“Hero-sama will have the mannerisms, behavior, and the speech that a hero-sama should have”, that was the curse that that princess put on the hero .
In other words, the inhabitants of this world wanted him to be the hero that they wanted .
Something like that, no thank you .
「I don’t know anything like the principle of this world . Even though we were living in a peaceful world, we were forcibly taken to this world . Try solving your own problems . Don’t rely on people from another world . 」
I was not a saint like the successive generations of heroes .
Maa, it might also be possible that the other heroes were forced to do so because of things like curses .
I don’t want to do anything for anyone without compensation, and if there’s no reward, then I’m not going to do it .
Perhaps it’s because I knew how the people of this world would end up .
Is that so, Gram muttered this, smiled, and then leaned closer towards me .

I took a step back .
Gram whispered so that no one else could hear .
「I see . Then you don’t intend on granting the wish of the foolish man who sacrificed himself so that you could escape from the castle . Should I tell you what that man said as he was dying? ‘Akira-kun’ is you, isn’t it?」
It felt like the blood in my entire body was boiling over .
「I was able to see an interesting show . It was the right choice to have the ‘Night Raven’ set up the camera in advance . 」
「As expected, Commander Saran was by you… . 」
I wasn’t there when Commander Saran took his last breath .
Of course, I was extremely curious as to what his last words were, but before that, I was happy that I got to know that the man before me was Commander Saran’s enemy .
「Saa, don’t you want to know? If you want me to tell you, come together with Amelia-sama . 」
Gram said that once again .
I sneered and shook my head .
「You’re misunderstanding something . It was a mistake for you to tell me that . 」
This time, I leaned closer .
「Tonight, take care when you go to sleep . 」
I finally found you .
The person that I need to kill .
The person to assassinate .
「…that’s unfortunate . I don’t plan on letting you go . 」
Gram said that and as soon as he snapped his fingers, three men wearing black clothing appeared out of nowhere .
Those eyes were somewhat vacant, and I knew that they were being controlled by the aforementioned “strengthening drug” .
Besides these guys, there were only Amelia and I, as well as Raul and the others in the Adventurer Guild .
Perhaps the other staff members had a keen sense of danger, as it seems that they had hurriedly took refuge .
Maa, it’s good that it became easier though .
The moment I thought to assess the situation, Kelia rushed towards Gram while in her wheelchair before I could stop her .
「Guildmaster, what in the world is going on! Just what are you doing to the adventurers… . 」
「With the social standing of the common people, of a human, it is extremely impertinent to start talking to me who is royalty . Kill all of those audacious humans over there . I’ll have you return my things . 」
After he said those words, Kelia, together with her wheelchair, was blown away by one of the men in black .
I could only see that he swung his fist, but there was no way that he could blow away a person and a wheelchair with just that .
Those who were enhanced were troublesome .
「Kelia!!!」
With a sidelong glance, I saw Raul catch Kelia, and I caught the fist that was swung down towards me .
As expected, he didn’t have the nickname Whirlwind for nothing .
There was no hesitation in their movements, and they’re fast .
「Hold on tightly to the hand of your important person, Raul . 」
「Yes!」
I embraced Amelia .
「Kneel down!」
We could fight against the black-clad men with gravitational magic, but it seems that Kelia couldn’t fight at all .
Raul lifted Kelia up with one hand, but his movements slowed as he couldn’t use both hands .
Over here, Amelia and I were taking on two of the black-clad men, but they were struggling over there with only one person .
「Yoru, it’s fine here, so I’m leaving Raul to you . Don’t kill them . 」
『Got it . 』
When I called out to Yoru who was on my shoulder, he used 『Metamorphosis』turn into a cheetah and went to assist Raul .
「That person is mine! I’ll have you return her . 」
When I turned toward the front, thinking of defeating the men in black, Gram came up to me with his hand out .
I frowned and slapped that hand away .
「Amelia is not yours! She’s mine, don’t touch her!!」
I tightened my hand around the fist of the men in black .
「『Shadow Magic』!!」
The man’s shadow, that was connected to me due to our hands wriggled, and arose .
「Devour the door!」
There were crackling sounds and then there was a hole bitten into Adventurer Guild’s door .
「Yoru, Amelia, we’re leaving . 」
「Nn!」
『Roger!!』
Due to Amelia’s『Gravitational Magic』, the three men in black and Raul sunk into the ground, and during that gap, the cheetah Yoru placed Raul and Kelia onto his back and rushed outside through the opening in the door .
「Sh*t! Chase after them! Don’t let them get away! Why are you dawdling! Hurry up and chase after them!!」
With Gram’s shouting behind us, we left the Adventurer Guild as well .
I thought that we would be surrounded, but there weren’t any men in black .
There were only adventurers and curious onlookers who came over due to the uproar .
I couldn’t catch sight of Yoru anymore, and because I didn’t recognize the streets, I didn’t know where we should go .
「Wai, over here! Master!」
Hearing Latisneil’s voice, I raised my head, and she, who was holding onto something, was flying in the sky, and held her hand out to us .
「Amelia!」
「Nn!!」
I grabbed Amelia’s hand, kept up from the ground, and used my other hand to grab Latisneil’s hand .
The moment I grabbed Latisneil’s hand, our bodies floated up, and we flew through the sky .
「Yeah, as expected, flying is fun . 」
Latisneil said that in a voice so calm that you wouldn’t think that she was supporting the weight of two people .
When I looked down, there were four enhanced people dressed in black looking up towards us .
「Although they have been enhanced, it seems that they can’t fly . 」
「…thanks, Latisneil . 」
I looked at the injuries here and there on her body and said this .
Most likely, they had surrounded the Adventurer Guild .
I didn’t know if she noticed then due to timing of when they entered the guild building, but it seems that she eliminated them .
「It’s nothing–! If you died, I’d have a guilty conscience . Since I like you!」
Latisneil said this in a proud manner .
She truly saved us .
If we had been on foot, they would’ve caught up sooner or later .
「How beautiful . 」
We gradually went higher and higher, and we could overlook the City of Water in its entirety .
The boats were slowly moving forward in the canals, and the people who were as small as a grain of rice were walking on the streets .
The water within the canals were sparkling like jewels .
「Aah, it is beautiful . 」
I muttered those words, not knowing that at the same time, in a different place, Kurou and Ria were looking up towards us,

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14

Surprisingly, in the fantasy LitRPG genre. A girls death forms the foundation for a plan centuries in the making. With only what she could take with her in her mind, and a new body with surprising depths, she begins her new life in a world unlike her own. This is my first writing project in almost a decade, so there is going to be a lot of improvements from me as I shake off the rust. And of course, as the world I'm creating comes to life! So if you like the concept, please bear with me, and hopefully I'll reach the high standards I know you have. Edit (04/04/2018): Witness the power of my complete lack of any artistic talent! There is now cover art for this fiction. Its just barely better than the default, but hey, minimalism is in, right?

Homecoming | A Chronicles of Ascension Story
When Jethen was captured by slavers, his childhood was torn from him and left shattered half a world away. When he finds himself back home decades later, by methods he does not fully understand, he finds that the life he has lived has changed him far more than he knew. In a home he no longer knows. Places and people at the same time familiar and foreign, he must decide - stay and help with his parent's business, or return to the land that remade him and the family he made there. --------- Homecoming started as just a short story to break an episode of writers block. It has since morphed well beyond that into a novel in it's own right, and may well end up with a sequel. The writing of Homecoming became a bit of a self induced challenge to improve my initial, first brush, writing quality. Each chapter was written raw, given a once over read and edit, and then posted. In this way I am forcing myself to write better from the start. I do hope you enjoy the story and will leave a comment or review, and if you see an issue, feel free to let me know as well. I know it is not nearly perfect, and it will get a full and proper edit once I am done. Never hurts to fix things along the way though. As an additional note. The story has undergone a structural rework and has been reposted in an updated structure and sequence of chapters. If you have read this story already, I invite you to do so again in this new structure.
