Silver Overlord Chapter 556

Chapter 556: 556
Yan Liqiang was running toward White Grass Lake . In the eyes of his pursuers, Yan Liqiang was sprinting with all his might . However, in reality, Yan Liqiang was only using one-third of his speed .
The army from the Dark Wood Tribe in the distance was in disarray, and the sounds of iron hooves thundered behind him . Two groups of cavalrymen, each with more than a thousand men strong, instantly charged out of the frontlines to outflank Yan Liqiang . Even if they were several meters apart, Yan Liqiang could feel the intensity of their gazes on him . If gazes and murderous intent emitted heat, Yan Liqiang would’ve probably been burnt to crisp by now .
In all fairness, the Dark Wood Tribe’s cavalry’s reaction time was quite fast . However, in Yan Liqiang’s eyes, the pursuing cavalry was nothing more than a final prop in his ‘performance’…
After Yan Liqiang ran about two hundred meters, he spun around to draw his bow again . He nocked a black runed arrow, and then released it at the cavalry pursuing him .
As soon as the arrow left the bowstring, about four or five soldiers riding at the frontlines collapsed, causing the rest to be in disarray . The remaining cavalry persevered and continued the relentless chase .
Yan Liqiang spun around to release another two arrows before he turned back and continued running . After running a few hundred meters, an arrow whooshed by, nearly grazing Yan Liqiang’s ear when he tilted his head .
The general of the Dark Wood Tribe cavalry was also an expert in archery . The arrow he shot from a thousand meters away carried tremendous force . Any ordinary person would definitely be wounded by it .
Having evaded an arrow, Yan Liqiang turned around to make another shot . His arrow went right through the chest of that Dark Wood Tribe general who tried to shoot him earlier, and nearly knocked him off his steed .
By the time the Dark Wood Tribe cavalry was five hundred meters behind Yan Liqiang and more arrows could reach him, Yan Liqiang had reached the edge of White Grass Lake and he plunged right into it .
When the torrent of arrows fell into the water, their force was reduced to nothing by water resistance .
By the time the Dark Wood Tribe cavalry reached the edge of White Grass Lake, Yan Liqiang could no longer be seen in the rippling water .

Many soldiers from the Dark Wood Tribe roared in anger and dismounted from their steeds . Their eyes reddened as they stripped off their armor, then they bit their scimitars and jumped into the lake with a splash like a group of ducks . In the blink of an eye, several hundred of them had dived into the White Grass Lake to search for Yan Liqiang .
Around twenty minutes later, many of those who jumped into the water resurfaced again begrudgingly . It went without saying that they weren’t able to locate Yan Liqiang . However, a headcount revealed that they were missing eighty people . Those people never came back after they went underwater…
The Dark Razor Tribe… It must have been the Dark Razor Tribe!
All the Dark Wood Tribe soldiers flew into a rage…
…
“Why?! Why didn’t my father’s arrow resisting spirit talisman work?! Why?!” Gedan lashed out at the people around him with a spirit talisman in his hand . His eyes were red and he looked as though he was about to devour someone .
The spirit talisman in his hand was about the size of a palm, shiny and bronze like a bronze mirror . It looked exactly the same as the one that the Sacred Flame priest whom Yan Liqiang killed last time had . The only difference was that the rare beast core crystal embedded in the center of this spirit talisman was still perfectly intact and glowing .
Wugusa’s body was lying on the ground, covered by two sheets of Dark Wood Tribe’s flags . The nobles and generals from the tribe grieved as they gathered around the corpse with inconsolable anger . Many also had an alarmed expression on their faces .
“That’s because the arrow which took the chief’s life wasn’t an ordinary arrow . It was also something made by a talisman master…” An old priest from the Dark Wood Tribe pushed his way through the crowd and came before Gedan with a pained look on his face . He passed the half remains of the black arrow to Gedan . “This is what I found just now!”
“This… What is this?”
“This is a talisman arrow . When this kind of arrow hits its target, it will shatter after the talisman power on it dissipates . The chief was assassinated by this type of arrow just now . The spirit talisman that he carried can only guard against normal arrows, but not the talisman arrows made by talisman masters!” The old priest from Dark Wood Tribe said somberly .

Gedan clutched the arrow tightly in his hand, then asked murderously, “Do you know who made this?”
“These arrows are called Black Feather Arrows . They’re…” The old priest from Dark Wood Tribe hesitated for a moment, but continued speaking under the intense gazes around him . “Black Feather Arrows can only be used by very few influential tribes among the Shatu Alliance!”
Gedan was stunned for a good while, before his face contorted . He gnashed his teeth, “I get it . I get it now . So it seems like the Shatu Alliance have been colluding with the Dark Razor Tribe . They invited my father to a peace talk but plotted to have him assassinated when he was on his way . This spirit talisman is a gift from the Shatu Alliance to my father . They knew my father would carry this on him, so they used a Black Feather Arrow to assassinate him today…”
The Dark Razor and Dark Wood Tribes had been enemies, and were like water and fire on the Gulang Plains . For something like this to happen when the Wugusa of the Dark Wood Tribe was on the way to attend a peace talk, anyone with a brain would arrive at the conclusion that this was plotted by the Shatu Alliance and the Dark Razor Tribe after seeing the evidence . The so-called peace talk was nothing more than a scheme and conspiracy .
“AVENGE THE CHIEF! AVENGE THE CHIEF…!” The nobles and generals started roaring in anger . For the chief of Dark Wood Tribe to die by a trap set by the Dark Razor Tribe and Shatu Alliance, this was no longer a simple vendetta, but blatant humiliation and contempt to the Dark Wood Tribe . Any man from the Dark Wood Tribe wouldn’t just stand there and endure it .
“Of course we will avenge him! From today onward, the Dark Wood Tribe shall fight the Dark Razor Tribe until the bitter end!” Gedan bellowed in anger . “BRING ME THE LIMBS OF THOSE FROM THE SHATU ALLIANCE…!”
The ambassador from the Shatu Alliance was already captured and tied up by the Dark Wood Tribe soldiers when Wugusa was assassinated . He was traveling with the Dark Wood Tribe as a hostage and assurance for the Dark Wood Tribe to attend the peace talk . Therefore, as long as something happened to Wugusa, he would be the first to get it .
“Impossible… That’s impossible…! There’s no way the Shatu Alliance and Dark Razor Tribe would attempt an assassination…!” The face of the Shatu Alliance’s ambassador was already swollen . He struggled and yelled as he was brought before Gedan by a few Dark Wood Tribe soldiers, and brought to his knees by a hard kick . “Gedan, Sire, this must be a misunderstanding…! Please let me return, I will definitely get to the bottom of it…!’
Gedan didn’t say anything else . He stabbed the ambassador’s eye with the half remains of the black arrow in his hands so hard that it crushed his eyeball . While the ambassador from the Shatu Alliance screamed in misery, Gedan uttered two words: “Kill him . ”
The others around him had long been impatient . As soon as Gedan’s voice ceased, a few dozen blades sunk into the ambassador’s body, reducing him into a pile of mangled flesh . Even so, that didn’t get rid of their resentment and anger…
The old priest from the Dark Wood Tribe spoke up, “Since the Dark Razor Tribe and Shatu Alliance have assassinated the chief here, there are definitely traps waiting for us up ahead . Therefore, our top priorities should be to bring our men back first, settle the chief’s funeral, and avoid falling into their traps!”
Gedan, the generals, and the nobles in the army exchanged glances with each other . All of them felt that the old priest had made a good point . With anger and grief in their hearts, as well as the resentment toward Dark Razor Tribe and Shatu Alliance ingrained into their bones, the troop turned their steeds around at the edge of White Grass Lake and returned to the Dark Wood Tribe with Wugusa’s corpse…
This was how the meeting between the Dark Razor and Dark Wood tribes became nothing more than a mirage…

The Voice of the World
Jason Elric used to be an ordinary college student living in the heart of San Francisco. He had a part time job, he played online games with friends he got along moderately well with, and he earned reasonably good grades. The worst he really had to worry about in life was turning in his coursework on time and not being late to class. Now, though? Now fighting for his life and running from a horde of giant frogs that want to make him their next meal is just another Tuesday. Thanks to a summoning ritual gone terribly right, Jason has found himself trapped in a world eerily similar to the role playing games games he used to play for fun. Unfortunately for the now ex-college student, everything happening around him is terrifyingly real and if he wants to survive, he’ll have to figure out how to exploit the system for his benefit before it’s too late. The Voice of the World is the first part of what is planned to be a multi-book, Isekai LitRPG story with crafting elements, set in the fantasy world known as Verdania. This is my first time posting online for public consumption, so bear with me as I work to find a style that people like. While I may occasionally write scenes that may deal with heavy concepts, expect this story to be primarily light hearted high fantasy. There will be a lot of common fantasy tropes involved, as this story got its start as a simple practice exercise, rather than any plan to actually post it. However, it’s grown on me, so I felt it’s worth sharing after all. Thus, if you’re looking for more serious/original/unusual stories, you might want to look elsewhere. For the rest of you, feel free to leave suggestions, as well as to point out grammar and spelling mistakes; I’ll do my best to make edits to correct them. I do my own editing currently, and it’s easy to miss things when you know what’s supposed to be there, so such call outs are highly encouraged. Content TLDR: No harems, probably no romance (unless it makes sense for the story later on) (it did, eventually), definitely no sex (keeping this PG-13 or close to it), limited profanity. Does/Will contain mixes of magic and technology (think Warhammer, Final Fantasy); copious amounts of blue tables; race, gender, and sexual equality concepts; crafting sequences; and (slightly, but not overbearingly) strong protagonists. If you don’t like these things, go elsewhere instead of downvoting people for content instead of writing quality. Update Time currently varies, due to personal injury, but the goal is 1/week on Wednesdays, with a possible smaller chapter on weekends if time/health permits.

After a terrible car accident when she was seven, Eirenae's life got turned upside down. Her father changed everything, becoming rotten and abusive to the point it caused her to stop speaking entirely. Eleven years later and she still lives by his rules, trapped under his thumb. She has nowhere to go; no life outside the awful one she's forced into at home, and any time she tries to speak, her voice fails her. Without much hope left, she suffers in silence. Until moving to a new town changes everything. Arriving at her new school, Eirenae immediately catches the attention of six students. They're the nicest anyone has ever been to her, but everything about them strikes her funny: they're naturally perfect, have insane athletic reflexes, and they keep using strange words like "Alpha", "Luna", and "pack". On top of it all, their eyes horrifyingly seem to change color and no matter how much she runs or gives hints she should be left alone, they won't stop being overly friendly. No one seems to be willing to explain anything to her, so maybe it's time to bring her life back into her own hands, discover what has been hiding from her past, and let herself be rescued. . . and maybe not particularly in that order!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-Book 1 of War of the Wolves-Precedes "Fatal War"-Started: August, 2018- Completed: May 1st, 2019-#1 in Abuse: 9/21/2019-#1 in Mate 10/5/2019-#1 in luna 10/16/2019-#3 in Werewolf 12/26/2019-#1 in Whitewolf 1/28/2020-#1 in Mute 2/9/2020-#2 in Telekinesis 4/25/20-#1 in Royalwolf 3/15/22
