The Great Ruler Chapter 1303 – Elixir Beasts
Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
“Someone is controlling these Ghost Mosquitoes!” Wen Qingxuan and Luo Li were shocked when they heard Mu Chen.
Instantly, Wen Qingxuan’s expression turned cold. “It must be the Wus! They wanted to stop us!”
“Any idea how we can figure out who is behind all of this?” Wen Ziyu looked at Mu Chen. If that fellow continued to mess with them, their energy consumption might be significant, even if they could make their way through the sea of mosquitoes!
Radiance slightly flickered in Mu Chen’s eyes. He swept his gaze across the swarm of mosquitoes that covered the sky like a black canvas, then said, “Those mosquitoes interact through soundwaves. The one who is secretly controlling them should be using soundwaves, too.”
“Sister Ling Xi, can you build a Soundwave Spiritual Array?” Mu Chen asked.
The spiritual arrays that Mu Chen had were mainly for offense, and their effects were not as good. However, Ling Xi was different. She focused on cultivating spiritual arrays. Hence, Mu Chen could not compare with her.
Ling Xi nodded as soon as she heard his question. She flicked her fingers, and the spiritual seals started to infuse with the air around her.
The next moment, a spiritual light beamed shot out of it and an exquisite spiritual array appeared before them. Then, a shadow that resembled a huge drum emerged within the spiritual array.
Dong!
As the spiritual array began to circulate, the huge drum vibrated hard. All of a sudden, a low drumbeat that sounded like a thundering roar resounded between Heaven and Earth. For a moment, the buzzing sound from the swarm of mosquitoes was deadened.
Weng!
As the drum sounded again, the mosquitoes went into a frenzy. Those mosquitoes that initiated suicide attacks on Mu Chen and the rest were suddenly stunned and started to fly in all different directions.
“Run!” Mu Chen yelled as he circulated the Spiritual Energy Light Shield and charged forward.
Dong! Dong!
As the drum beat continued to echo, the Spiritual Energy Light Shield hurtled through the swarm of mosquitoes. Within a few minutes, the sky had brightened up again and Mu Chen and his clique were safely out of the mosquitoes’ zone.
All of them looked back and saw the endless swarm of mosquitoes dispersing in all different directions. The proper formation that they had earlier was now in a state of complete disarray!
“Someone really is controlling them.” Wen Qingxuan’s pretty face gradually turned ice-cold when she saw this.
Mu Chen squinted as his eyes looked at the dense forest below them. He then cast his gaze north, as he could feel a slight spiritual energy fluctuation coming from that direction.

Bang!
While Mu Chen was looking in that direction, a shadowy figure began to retreat speedily. He made his way through the forest in an attempt to flee.
“Trying to escape?” Long Xiang narrowed his eyes instantly, and with a stomp of his foot, his body turned into a flash of lightning.
As he darted into the forest, a violent spiritual energy fluctuation soared towards the sky. After a while, he stopped. As he held a grey-robed figure in his hand, he seemed like he was out of breath.
“This fellow was indeed ruthless! He knew that he was about to be seized, so he swallowed poison and committed suicide!” Long Xiang threw the corpse aside, while feeling slightly bewildered.
These enemy forces, which could raise warriors that were not afraid to sacrifice themselves, were clearly not ordinary forces!
“He was a Wu Warrior from the Wus.” Wen Qingxuan recognized the warrior’s identity with just one look. She then cast her beautiful and cold gaze towards the mountains and said, “I know who came from the Wus this time…”
“Who?” Wen Ziyu asked.
“Wu Tong,” Wen Qingxuan said in a cold tone. “The Wu Warriors who are at such a level are precious resources within the Wu family. As such, only a handful of people can mobilize them. Wu Tong was among them.”
Upon hearing her words, Wen Ziyu looked shocked. Apparently, he was familiar with Wu Tong.
“Wu Tong was one of the most outstanding men in the current generation of the Wu family. I even heard that he was the appointed candidate to become the next governor of the family. He was indeed a gifted person. He cultivated for more than ten years before he reached the Complete Earthly Sovereign level.”
She paused, then continued, “In the Wu family, he was a superior powerhouse, who was known to be ruthless and was not easy to deal with.”
After Wen Qingxuan had explained to Mu Chen and the rest of the group who had not heard of the Wu family, Mu Chen nodded. He had not heard Wu Tong’s name before this moment, but regardless of how tricky he was, he would not be concerned.
“Looks like they are determined to get the Spiritual Butterfly Relic this time.” Wen Qingxuan pursed her red lips and stared into the woods.
She then grunted coldly and said, “No matter what, it will not be that easy to snatch the treasure out from under my nose! Let’s go. We need to get to the Spiritual Butterfly Relic as soon as possible!”
Wen Qingxuan then took the lead and flit away as Mu Chen and the rest immediately followed. They all beamed into streamers and headed deep into the mountains that were shrouded in the poisonous miasma.

After they had left, a shadow that was near a tree suddenly moved. The shadow was surrounded by an eerie and evil aura. Although the figure was only standing under that big tree, the tree was quickly withered by the figure’s aura anyway.
Even the spiritual energy of the universe was instantly drained from the area where that figure was standing. A death aura filled the figure’s dark grey eyes as he gazed in the direction where Mu Chen and the rest had just headed. Then, he grabbed a handful of soil, stuffed it into his mouth, and swallowed it.
“A Demon Emperor did indeed perish on this land! Its soil tastes delicious!” As he laughed, his face contorted into a ghastly snarl. The figure then disappeared into the darkness.
Meanwhile, Mu Chen and the rest were flitting above the dense forest. At this time, he began to understand the dangers and risks that were hidden within this region that was enveloped by the poisonous miasma.
Ever since they had braved the swarm of mosquitoes, they had encountered attacks from dozens of poisonous creatures intermittently.
These creatures were rather cunning, and if they did not stay alert at all times, the group might suffer numerous casualties! Luckily, after many dangerous encounters, they managed to make it through the mountains.
“That’s our destination! The Spiritual Butterfly Relic!” Wen Qingxuan stood on a hilltop and pointed to somewhere far away in the distance.
There, the mountains seemed to have come together to form a magnificent cave. The cave was shaped like a spiritual butterfly that had just spread its wings. It was quite a phenomenal scene.
At that moment, a colorful spiritual energy spurt out from the cave. This wasn’t surprising, as the location was a high-quality and treasured land that was quite suitable for cultivation.
“If this place is not located in the Ancient Holy Gulf, it will be a good place to establish a new sect.” Mu Chen looked at the Spiritual Butterfly Cave and could not help but sing its praises.
Such a cave paradise, with the protection of the poisonous miasma outside, seemed a perfect location for cultivation. After hearing his words, Luo Li and Wen Qingxuan nodded their heads in agreement.
“Our target is in right in front of us. Let’s get ready!” Wen Qingxuan looked at Mu Chen and the rest of the group.
She then nodded, and all of them beamed out and charged into the magnificent Spiritual Butterfly Cave. Once they entered the cave, they realized that the lights in the cave were much brighter than the outside’s natural lighting.
The cave was wide and broad, and it had numerous tunnels that led deep into the cave. Although these tunnels stretched out in many different directions, Mu Chen and the rest did not split into different groups recklessly. Instead, they chose a single tunnel and made their way through it together.
Suddenly, the tunnel became slightly dark. After they had gone a little further, they saw a stone palace at the end of the tunnel.
As they entered the stone palace, the first things that they saw were ten crouching stone beasts! These beasts were guarding the only exit in the stone palace.
Mu Chen looked at the ten stone beasts. Although these stone beasts had no spiritual energy at all, he sensed that they were not simple.
Then, sure enough, when the group stopped walking, the ten stone beasts slowly opened their eyes and a daunting spiritual radiance surged out from them!
Roar!
As the beasts roared, the thunderous sound echoed within the stone palace.
“The Elixir Beasts!” Wen Qingxuan’s pretty eyes narrowed as she recognized the stone beasts.
“Elixir Beasts?” Mu Chen was stunned, as he was somewhat unfamiliar with this term.
“They are a type of puppets. These creatures’ powers don’t come from spiritual energy, but from the Divine Elixir. Look at their eyes carefully, notice that they have all been transformed by the Divine Elixir!” Wen Qingxuan said.
After her explanation, Mu Chen finally understood. He looked over and realized that the stone beasts’ eyes really had been transformed by those elixirs that were blinking in a spiritual light!
“Look at the one in the center!” Wen Qingxuan exclaimed.
Everyone immediately turned to look at the stone beast that was in the middle of the group. It looked like a dragon, and its body was extremely huge. Its two dragon eyes were flashing with a crystal-like glow, while releasing a strange and extraordinary fluctuation.
“This stone beast is powerful!” Mu Chen was surprised by the oppression that he sensed coming from this stone beast. According to his calculations, this beast’s strength was equivalent to an authentic Complete Earthly Sovereign!
“The strength of the stone beast is based on the quality level of the Divine Elixir.” Wen Qingxuan looked into the stone beast’s eyes with a fire burning in her eyes.
She then smiled and said, “If I’m not mistaken, the very thing that is inside this dragon-like stone beasts’ eyes is the thing that Wen Ziyu and Long Xiang have been searching for all this time!”
Wen Ziyu and Long Xiang narrowed their eyes immediately. The next moment, they exclaimed together, “His eyes are made of the Saint Spiritual Pills!”

Binary of Life and Death
Monsters, gold, chaos, glory, adventure, what more could attract two of the greatest players of all time to Sugarea, the most popular MMORPG of its time. But everyone makes errors, and unfortunate for these two brilliant players, they have made the grave mistake of not actually sleeping like normal humans and missed out on the very moment the new Dark Legion update would take effect. Or did they? They wake in what seems familiar yet not, but they soon realize their predicament. They are inside their game avatar's bodies! Will they concur it like ordinary land or will they enlighten the planet into equality? Do figures pull strings in the dark or is everything open to the public eye? Nothing is certain except the unknown, and nothing is ever as it seems... This is an Isekai story, as such, some parts may sound either cliché or similar to others, but I assure you, I tried to prevent that. To make it known, I took quite a lot of inspiration from the light novel/anime Overlord, but that doesn't mean it's a direct rip-off of it. You'll find there to be quite the amount of differences. Just a little heads up as well, you should expect irregular uploads, as it takes me a long time to write each chapter. I am currently trying for once every other week on Sundays around 10:00 A.M. Chapters are usually 7k words and up, with the longest (chapter 3) being 10.3k words. So, if you like to sit down and read a long chapter every two weeks at 10:00 A.M. EST on Sundays, then you can waste your time here! Small disclaimer: Profanity is far and few between, and mostly used by side characters, rarely the main character. When something with gore happens, I describe to the best of my ability, which will only get better the longer I write this... :) Small cuts between perspectives happen, and can hide what some characters do, which will be revealed in future chapters, I'm not that lazy... all the time... There are some parts that are long blocks of text, most, if not all, of them, are characters talking, but I try not to info dump. I know one of the tags says "Psychological", and for the most part, it is, but it's not as prominent as other stories, instead, it's more hidden and scattered, but I did try to make the pieces I did reveal all fit together. Cover art is bound to be changed when I have a good picture to use, so the Yin-Yang is a placeholder for now unless yall wanna gimme something to use *wink wink nudge nudge*. So yeah, please give it a try, as I have nothing better to do with my life, and I am banking solely off of a career in literature and am hoping that I can create a story that can actually be called something more than a child's imagination running wild. The eventual and inevitable end to the story won't be for a long while, at least till chapter 40 or so. I have thought long and hard about the message and themes at play, so I hope you, the reader (who has some amazing hair btw), can enjoy and partake on this adventure with me into my dark empty pit of an imagination.

Welcome to Devos
Welcome to a world where humor, drama, and action clash in epic tales spanning a vast continent....Welcome to Devos An anime styled medieval fantasy world featuring heroes, gods, and demons in a grounded and story/character focused series. A world where the gods of power bestow elemental abilities on those they find worthy. Welcome to Devos is broken up into parts, each part is more or less a complete story that expands the world, characters, and kingdoms of Devos. It plays out a lot like Game of Thrones where instead of a lead character you have an entire cast, each one getting plenty of time to develop over the course of the series. It is a relatively grounded, character and story-driven adventure that focuses on people of interest and their relationships with each other, their nations, and the eight gods of power. While the story features a good blend of light and dark themes it can get really grim at times. The continent of Devos is comprised of 5 territories, they include the three kingdoms of Verdun, Ashmir, and Vespa along with the territories of two demon lords to the north and south. The time period and setting are basically what you would find in a fantasy anime. There are eight gods of power which wield eight different elements and have the ability to "bless" individuals with certain abilities. Monsters roam the wilderness and the ruins/dungeons that are scattered throughout the landscape. Adventurers complete quests, hunt monsters, and explore the vast continent. We've got heroes, demon lords, gods, spys, special operations assault teams, phantom eagles, kings & queens, cursed chickens, talking goblins, and a whole shit ton more already in with plenty more coming soon.
