The Great Ruler Chapter 1039 – Qualification
Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
While Bai Ming was trying to calm down outside of the Divine Cemetery, the atmosphere became awkward. Everyone kept looking at Mu Chen, bewildered.
When Bai Ming had tried to make things difficult for Mu Chen, they had thought that Mu Chen would be forced into a corner. After all, given the immensity of the Phoenix Clan’s and Bai Ming’s powers, ordinary beings would be no match for them.
As such, no one had expected that Mu Chen would have been able to get out of this tough situation so easily, and at the same time, push Bai Ming into such a sorry state! Now, Bai Ming dared not offend the few Supreme clans, when they tried to stop him.
If Mu Chen had been pushed into a corner and detonated the silver heart, everyone would have suffered. The entrance to the Divine Cemetery might have been destroyed as well.
Although many of them doubted if Mu Chen would have the guts to detonate the silver heart, they did not want to take the risk. They could only stop Bai Ming from further enraging Mu Chen. Otherwise, no one would reap any benefits from the situation whatsoever. Thus, no matter how unwilling they were to do so, they had to step out and stop Bai Ming, even though it would cause tension between them.
It was awkwardly silent. The beautiful lady from the Nine Hues Peacock Clan lifted her eyes to look at Mu Chen, then said coldly, “Friend, all of us want to get into the Divine Cemetery. Please keep the object that you are holding and stop using it to threaten us. If this place is destroyed, you will provoke everyone here.”
They had not wanted to get involved in the conflict between the Phoenix Clan and Mu Chen and his companions, but they had been forced to do so because of Mu Chen. They were extremely unhappy about it, so they had to knock some sense into Mu Chen to stop him from going overboard.
When Mu Chen heard her words, he simply smiled. He then tossed aside the Heart of the Thunder-Devouring Beast and said, “We are not here to create trouble. However, if anyone thinks that he can walk all over us, I don’t mind letting him know that we have fangs, too.”

“Snobbery!” Bai Bin shouted from behind Bai Ming. He was very angry and looked pale. It was apparent that Mu Chen was referring to them.
Bai Ming had resumed his composure by now, so he did not flare up, but simply looked sharply at Mu Chen, his eyes filled with killing intent.
“I will remember what you have said.” Bai Ming waved his hand to stop Bai Bin, then said flatly, “I hope you will always keep this object.”
When the groups heard what Bai Ming had said, their eyelids twitched. Although he looked calm, everyone could tell that he wanted to kill Mu Chen.
They shook their heads, thinking to themselves…
Although this guy has some means, he is still inexperienced. It is apparent that he has the guts to contend with Bai Ming because of the silver heart.
They had no idea what the object was, but they knew that it was powerful. They also guessed that there was a limit to the number of usages it could have.
They believed this because Mu Chen would not have let Bai Ming off so easily, unless there was some limitation to how often he could use it. He would have thrown it straight at Bai Ming, otherwise!
However, he did not detonate it. So, it was apparent that he had used it only as a threat.
“You don’t have to worry about this,” Mu Chen said with a smile, tucking away the Heart of the Thunder-Devouring Beast. This object was extremely powerful, so it would be a waste to use it on Bai Ming at the moment.
Bai Ming was indeed powerful, even stronger than Golden Sky Prime. Mu Chen knew that, if he were to contend with him, he would have to leave in disappointment, even if used the Heart of the Thunder-Devouring Beast.
In actuality, the reason that he had taken out the Heart of the Thunder-Devouring Beast was merely to frighten those who had sinister motives. After all, if one did not display enough strength, he would encounter a lot of trouble. Hence, Mu Chen figured that he might as well frighten everyone at the beginning to avoid future trouble.
This turned out to be a good move, as not only was Bai Ming wary of him, but even the Supreme clans were afraid of him. This was why they had stepped in to stop Bai Ming and prevented things from getting out of hand.

When the beautiful lady from the Nine Hues Peacock Clan looked at Mu Chen, she was baffled by the absolute lack fear in his eyes.
Does this Grade Six Sovereign human being have other means to contend with Bai Ming, other than the silver heart?
Since she could not figure an answer, she simply shook her head and pushed the question aside. Besides, it really had nothing to do with her. As long as she could get into the Divine Cemetery, she could not be bothered with the strife between Mu Chen and Bai Ming. The two of them had to remain calm now and just focus on not destroying the place!
“Gentlemen, this is the entrance to the Divine Cemetery. There are two regions within it. There are only spiritual beasts in the outer region. If you are confident, you can try going in,” the beautiful lady looked at the groups and said flatly. “However, if you want to enter the inner region, you need to be qualified.”
“Kong Ling Fairy, what are the qualifications?” someone asked.
Mu Chen looked calmly at Kong Ling. He could sense that she was a dangerous person, with strength comparable to Bai Ming’s.
Kong Ling’s eyes glittered and she said calmly, “You need to have a Grade Eight beast spirit’s heart in order to get in.”
Upon hearing this, many of the groups turned pale and there was an uproar. To enter the inner region, they would have to kill a Grade Eight beast spirit in order to obtain its heart!
The Grade Eight beast spirit was comparable to a Grade Eight Sovereign!
Other than the Supreme groups, no one would have the courage to challenge Grade Eight beast spirits. Even if they managed to defeat the beast spirits, they would have to pay a high price for it.
The heart of a Grade Eight beast spirit? Mu Chen frowned when he heard this, then looked at Nine Nether and the rest.
This was not an easy qualification. Although Grade Eight beast spirits had low spiritual intelligences, they had the strengths of Grade Eight Sovereigns.
Any ordinary group would be completely wiped out if they were not careful in challenging them. Currently, there were less than 10 groups that were qualified to challenge the Grade Eight beast spirits.
“I wonder what is in the inner region..” Mu Chen suddenly said, his eyes glittering.
When the rest of the groups heard this, they turned to look at Kong Ling. Although they knew that it was a special place, they had no idea what kind of treasures were in it.
Kong Ling looked at Mu Chen with a faint smile and said, “You will find out for yourself when you qualify to get in.”
She seemed to be mocking Mu Chen, as she obviously did not think that he could make it into the inner region. Mu Chen was not enraged that she had ridiculed him, but simply smiled and said, “Thanks. I shall see you in the inner region.”
Kong Ling was shocked by his confidence. She wondered if he was trying to push himself too far, or if he still had some other hidden means.
“The death-gas is thickest at this moment. As such, waiting until dawn will be the best time to enter the Divine Cemetery,” she said.
“Thank you, Kong Ling Fairy.” The groups were truly grateful to Kong Ling for sharing the information with them. People of her status and strength usually only considered themselves, not bothering about helping others.
When Kong Ling heard their thanks, she simply smiled. As a member of the Nine Hues Peacock Clan, she would not want others to follow blindly behind her and lose their lives.
After they heard what Kong Ling had said, Mu Chen and his companions sat down cross-legged and rested, since they could not enter the Divine Cemetery yet.
As Mu Chen was focusing his mind, he suddenly saw the Spirit of the Real Phoenix on his arm moving. The movement contained the fear of a similar power and, at the same time, it had a sense of closeness.
Mu Chen’s heart jumped. If it had felt close to something, it must be related to the bloodline. There were only two things that would make the Real Phoenix feel close and fearful at the same time…
The Real Male phoenix and the Undying Bird!
There had been no rumor about the death of the Real Male Phoenix, so it must be the latter! Mu Chen lifted up his head and looked at the vast Divine Cemetery. The Primordial Undying Bird had indeed died there!

Discord Community: https://discord.gg/3tHKHAx7Ye The Vitaean Chronicles are a debut LitRPG High Fantasy series written with the intent of filling a niche I've yet to see filled anywhere else. This is my first novel of this kind, so please be patient with me. Throughout this story, I will endeavour to create an evolving and expansive narrative anchored around believable characters, compelling plotlines, and a consistent and sensible magic system. The purpose of this work is to create what I believe to be a relatively unique piece of fiction, drawing inspiration from many great stories that have come before from the likes of Tolkien, Jordan, Hertbert, Goodkind, Pratchett, Martin, and several others. My goal is not to create a masterpiece, but simply to create a story that someone can read and re-read with the same joy, same frustration, and same investment each time. This story will contain violence, politics, Shakespearian drama, tongue-in-cheek references, adult content, and well-crafted relationships of both platonic and romantic natures. I will not promise you will like every choice I make. I can only guarantee that I will do my best to create a story I, and you, can be proud of. As I progress, I will have room to incorporate fan-made characters for those interested in making their mark within the tapestry of this tale (with the customary disclaimer that they do so while waiving any rights to future profit, lol). Thank you to Royal Road for giving me the platform to do that, and thank you dear readers past, present, and future for choosing to come on this journey with me. Finally, just to cover myself: This work is Copyrighted to the Author herein known as 'Hannibal Forge', and recreation, distribution, or re-release of any material herein in a commercial or public capacity absent permission from the Author can and will be prosecuted to the full extent of the Law.

The Errant Otherworlder Watanabe
“In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and trucks whom transport men to other worlds.” Meet our titular protagonist Haruto Watanabe, a man who has all the markings of a good protagonist for a generic portal fantasy story. As an overworked office worker, to escape from the grips of crippling capitalist alienation, he had taken up to reading many stories where young men like him were transported to other worlds and enjoyed their lives at a most leisurely pace. Armed with genre-awareness and (what he believes to be) a marketable personality which would make him an easy audience self-insert, he longed for the day the isekai express would take him to his long-awaited adventure to another world. When the fateful day came, where the fair yet harsh mistress that is the fabled truck took Watanabe on one last date to the other side, he was most ready to escape his previous life, ready to embark on an errant so great he’d be most overpowered, his heroics so exceptional and his harem so vast that they would barely fit ten or twenty volumes of an overly long novel made by a desperate author looking for quick cash. Lo and behold however, Watanabe instead found himself in a low fantasy world which lacked severely in the department of any game-like systems, cheat skills or easily charmed damsels in distress. In a setting so antithetical to his established genre savviness or any attempts at power fantasy, how will a man like Watanabe, lacking in strength, wits and courage, manage to survive in a land most foreign to him? This is my first time trying to share to the wider world what I’ve written, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading the errantry of Watanabe as much as I enjoy writing about them. I'll be posting one chapter per week on Sundays, along with extra chapters whenever I get the chance to write more than usual.

Conquest Of Mortem
*NOTE* This novel is a war of attrition. To say anything less is a disservice to its demand. While comparable to other such works as Ulysses or Moby Dick, each sentence in Conquest is an enemy to be tackled. Not in the ways of difficulty but in absurd density that wishes nothing more than to destroy what patience you may have. Do not tackle chapters as you would ordinary chapters in an ordinary book. Tackle each chapter as a book unto itself. A foe to be vanquished, a period of life to leave behind. Seek to be master of this work. Seek to overcome. For in its design is the willpower, and the perseverance, and the strength of someone who sought meaning in struggle. As I discovered these in times of ultimate desperation, so I hope for you to discover these things. This novel is a love letter to your trials. May you overcome them. May you master them. May you become conquerer.- SeedSagaA literary epic for logophiles, philosophers, and poets alike. A journey into zeitgeist, the impact of media on culture, and the endurance of morality against an onslaught of hatred. These vague descriptions do little to compact Conquest's density into a bite-size summary. They do however relate the basest themes found within. A plot, if such can be surmised, is strung thinly across multiple perspectives, weaving together these concepts into a seemingly distorted tapestry of indecipherable events. Inspired by early 20th century modernism, Conquest will challenge the reader, and provide critique on the medium upon which all great stories are derived. Further interpretation is up to you now; an explorer among a sea of words. Venture on and discover what lies ahead, in...CONQUEST OF MORTEM
