Uncle Liu was silent for a moment, then he spoke to Director Chen. “We can take action, but I’m afraid the price for that would be the Horrifying Violent Female Spider.”

This elder of Gao Peng’s really did talk big. Director Chen could not help but take a second look at Uncle Liu. All this while, Uncle Liu had been merry and smiling, like a friendly next-door neighbor. He had thought that he was just an ordinary relative of Gao Peng’s.

A black shadow suddenly appeared on top of the spider and began slashing at the spider’s back with two pairs of sharp claws. In a split second, deep cuts appeared all over the spider’s back, its tough-looking grey skin seemingly brittle when faced with Softy’s sharp claws. But the spider was too large. Softy’s claws only damaged its skin and flesh, and it was unable to harm any of its organs.

The female spider hissed, but it was unwilling to engage Softy. It just kept on advancing.

But suddenly, one of its hind legs became entangled with a dark red rope, and it clumsily fell down to the ground in a cloud of dust.

The female spider got up, furious. It did not want to deal with these pests, but they kept on getting in its way. It angrily turned around, and a spider leg shot downward from the sky like a long spear, whistling through the air and piercing through the ground, penetrating at least twenty feet deep. It was clear that this stomp was made with the spider’s full force.

But no matter how strong an attack was, there was no effect if it did not hit its target.

Huh? Where was that guy that tried to ambush me?

The female spider could only see one of its attackers, but it clearly remembered that it had it had just been tripped by another one.

The spider returned its attention to the one it could see. It tried to stab it with a flurry of stomps, but the little black cat was just too agile. None of its attacks were hitting. It then tried to trap the little cat by spitting spider silk at it, but that was even less effective. The speed of its silk was even slower than its limbs, so it never even got close to hitting the target.

The female spider became more and more agitated. Not being able to land even a single hit even though it was stronger than the opponent was driving it mad.

Finally, the female spider turned around, ignoring Softy and heading toward the center of the basin. It had learned its lesson. It would ignore those two little monsters no matter how much they attacked it.

The Horrifying Violent Female Spider could hear the rhythmic beating of a heart in its ears. The sound of the heartbeat became faster and faster, finally matching the rate of its own heartbeat.

Suddenly the heartbeat stopped, and the female spider felt its own heart tighten, as though a giant, formless hand was squeezing down on it.

It then violently twisted around, flipping 180 degrees.

Its strong and sturdy heart slowly began to loosen, the heartbeat returning to normal. Even though the blood that ran through its body had slowed down immensely because of the skeleton’s attack, it had still managed to survive.

The female spider’s speed was greatly affected though, and it hesitated for a long while before finally deciding to put aside this grudge for now to follow its desires. It turned back to the basin and continued to stubbornly make its way toward the center. That skeleton… it had better not let me see it in this forest again!

This was the reason that Gao Peng had sent Dumby to go against the spider. To use the Blood Thread Heart ability. Although a single use puts the ability into a temporary cooldown period, it was still useful to buy them some time.

The giant Shatuoman Man-Eating Earthworm’s body gave off a black metallic shine. What was originally a weak and fragile skin seemed to have been strengthened greatly. An earthy yellow halo began to spin and extend outwards with the Shatuoman Man-Eating Earthworm Lord at its center. The halo’s color was very deep, close to a dark yellow, and the shape of the halo was flat and level.

The surrounding Shatuoman Man-Eating Earthworms were all enveloped by this halo, and they became excited.

It was not like the broken halo on the female spider. This was a perfect lord halo, and it gave off an even stronger sense of pressure to all the surrounding creatures, humans and monsters alike, far greater than the one from the spider’s halo.
