Battling Records of the Chosen One Chapter 18: Meditating Magic
“Should I do it or not?”
After calming down, Lin Xun couldn't stop thinking about this.
All was unknown to him – The risks accompanying with the first test of the Green-cloud Path was unknown, and the results if he failed were also unknown.
However, he was sure that if he succeeded, he would get the Meditating Magic and got closer to the Gate to Heaven at the end of the path.
Should he do it or not?
No one would tell Lin Xun what to do; he could only rely on himself.
Wait!
If there was nobody here, where did the voice come from? Lin Xun thought of it suddenly.
"Elder, could you please give me some information for preparation before beginning?"
Looking up, Lin Xun cupped his hands and asked. Although he couldn't see the person who gave the order, it was better to act modestly in need of assistance.
However, no one answered at all for a long period, except for that suspending and shining light curtain a few steps in front.
"So I have to make the decision all by myself."
Lin Xun sighed in heart with determination in his eyes. He was never an overcautious and indecisive person.
If he gave it up while there was a chance, he would regret it.
"Yes, I will do it."
Lin Xun answered and then like a signal, that cool and cold voice announced again, "The test begins – Please learn and master Flowing-light Spiritual Tattoo before going to the next test."
Flowing-light Spiritual Tattoo?
Test my ability on inscribing spiritual tattoos?
While Lin Xun still felt confused about it, there was a ripple appearing on that light curtain, as if it was awakened.
Then a complex and obscure spiritual tattoo appeared in the light curtain. Just liking dancing flowing light, every pattern was streaming trippingly, making people feel dazzled.
Being attracted, Lin Xun couldn't help but step closer to observe it intently.
Lin Xun had learnt spiritual tattoos with Mater Lu since childhood, so he knew well about them.
Spiritual tattoos, also known as spiritual tattoo designs, had various effects and power. Based on the power of each one, spiritual tattoos could be divided into basic and advanced spiritual tattoos.

The basic type included simple spiritual tattoos, like Red-fire Spiritual Tattoo, Birthwort Spiritual Tattoo, Gold Spiritual Tattoo, etc.
The advanced type, also known as Spiritual Tattoo Formation, was combined by different basic spiritual tattoos.
In general, spiritual tattooists would call them Spiritual Tattoo Pattern and Spiritual Tattoo Formation distinctively, which could also help to separate a spiritual apprentice and a spiritual tattooist.
One who could master 36 kinds of basic spiritual tattoo patterns was a junior spiritual apprentice; one who could master 72 kinds, an intermediate spiritual apprentice; and one who could mater 108 kinds, a senior spiritual apprentice.
If one could inscribe a spiritual tattoo formation by himself, then he could be qualified as a spiritual tattooist.
Well, Lin Xun knew nothing about the division of these qualification titles, but it didn't mean he was not good at it. Actually, he had known various basic spiritual tattoos by heart. Having learnt to inscribe spiritual tattoos with Master Lu for many years, Lin Xun practiced it every day. Until now, he mastered more than one thousand kinds!
However, all were basic spiritual tattoos that Lin Xun could inscribe with his cultivation at present.
Even so, any other spiritual tattooists would be totally shocked to know that Lin Xun, who was only 13 years old, mastered more than one thousand basic spiritual tattoos.
After all, one who mastered 108 kinds of basic spiritual tattoos was already ranked as a senior spiritual apprentice.
So you could tell Lin Xun had incredible skills on basic spiritual tattoos.
Unfortunately, Master Lu had never told this to Lin Xun. Instead, he just denied Lin Xun's ability every time Lin asked .
Lin Xun then thought hard about it, but there was no trail of this basic spiritual tattoo known as Flowing-light Spiritual Tattoo. He had never heard of it.
Yes, Lin Xun recognized at the first glance that it was a basic spiritual tattoo, not a spiritual tattoo formation, appearing on that light curtain.
Unfortunately, he never heard of this kind of spiritual tattoo, and Master Lu had never mentioned anything about it.
Lin Xun understood that there were numerous basic spiritual tattoos in the world, so even if he could not recognize it, it didn't mean that this did not exist.
So he refocused and felt pleased secretly to find the first test of the Green-cloud Path was simply a basic spiritual tattoo.

Maybe he would fail in other things, but for learning spiritual tattoo, especially when it was just a basic one, he was quite confident to pass the test.
Without hesitation, Lin Xun began to learn it dedicatedly, until when he realized he was totally wrong!
The Flowing-light Spiritual Tattoo in his eyes was revolving in changeable tracks, like thousands of dancing flowing light. Each track was hard to remember, and together, this tattoo was so abstruse, complicated and obscure.
Everyone would be dazzled at the first sight of it, not to mention to remember it. If gazing at it for a while, he would become anxious and prefer to die rather than learn it.
Like any other spiritual apprentices, Lin Xun had always been tough although with a weak body.
If you didn't have a strong mind, it would be impossible to learn and master spiritual tattoos.
So not everyone could become a spiritual tattooist for cultivation, which also explained why a spiritual tattooist was rare and valuable in this world.
However, even Lin Xun began to feel a little faint and difficult after gazing at the Flowing-light Spiritual Tattoo for a while.
It surprised Lin Xun, making him realize he just underestimated the test.
Although the spiritual tattoo was a basic one, it was really unique and totally different from what Lin Xun had mastered.
The previous basic ones were traceable. Even some were complex, you couldn't say they were obscure to understand.
And above all, all basic spiritual tattoos were static!
It was a common sense that each spiritual tattoo had a unique but fixed pattern and path. If there was a deviation or mistake when inscribing it, the spiritual tattoo would be useless without any power.
Just like handwriting on the paper, there was a special meaning for each word, so if the strokes were wrong, the word would be meaningless.
However, the Flowing-light Spiritual Tattoo was beyond Lin Xun's understanding about spiritual tattoos. For the first time in his life, he knew static spiritual tattoo could move!
If the pattern and path of Flowing-light Spiritual Tattoo turned around and changed, how could he inscribe it? After all, inscribing something required fixed rules to follow.
The more Lin Xun thought about it, the more surprised he felt about this tattoo. If he was not wrong, there was no other basic spiritual tattoo in the cultivation world that could be compared with it.
So unique that it broke the path to inscribe spiritual tattoos and actually created an unimaginably queer way.
Did it really count as a spiritual tattoo pattern?
Lin Xun thought it hard but could not answer it.
Not knowing how much time went by, Lin Xun felt his head began to swell and become heavy to think about anything. It was suffused by dancing spiritual tracks, so dense, obscure and messy…
In a trance, Lin Xun felt many flashes of flowing light streaked across the dark sky, dim or bright, long or short.
No matter what kind of flowing light it was, it flashed away so fast like firework which then disappeared instantaneously.
Seeming to sense something unconsciously, Lin Xun raised his finger and drew something on the light curtain.
Weng***
The brisk track on the light curtain he drew with his finger as an inscribing pen began to flow trippingly.
When Lin Xun continued to draw, many brisk tracks appeared, keeping tripping on the light curtain.
Soon, something magical showed up – the flowing tracks of the spiritual tattoo on the light curtain seemed to be attracted by what Lin Xun had drawn, gathering around it like finding their captain and beginning to revolving.
With a grin at the corner of his mouth, Lin Xun realized he was right.
His finger kept moving and the tracks on that light curtain increased. Until the light curtain could not endure so many traces, Lin Xun stopped moving his fingertips.
Weng***
An odd sound buzzed, followed by the gathering and combining of countless spiritual tattoo tracks on the light curtain.
At last, they were blended in the spiritual tattoo track Lin Xun drew.
Boom***
At that moment, the light curtain turned into rain of light and disappeared.
Lin Xun took back his hand and now he figured out the secret of this Flowing-light Spiritual Tattoo.
It was not a basic spiritual tattoo at all; instead, it was a martial manual! However, someone had hidden its magical power into each pattern and track of this spiritual tattoo.
This martial manual was Meditating Magic!
Lin Xun murmured then, "So, it should be a kind of inherited spiritual tattoo. Whoever created this brand-new spiritual tattoo simply for transmitting a martial manual was incredible…"
