Chapter 181: I Heard it Doesn’t Hurt Once You’re Drunk…
Chapter 181 – I Heard it Doesn’t Hurt Once You’re Drunk…
“Chen Yu, here’s some tea . ”
Inside the simple bedroom, Xing Biqi placed a glass of tea on the study table .
“Mhm . ” Chen Yu nodded as he eyed the tea . However, he did not drink it . “Do you usually take the bus to school?”
“I take it when it’s dark outside,” Xing Biqi answered as she lightly stroked her hair .
“You don’t take it during the day?”
“The school is close, so I just walk . I can also train my body,” Xing Biqi said . Seemingly reluctant to continue on this topic, she turned away and quickly left . “You’re hungry, right? I’ll make dinner . ”
Seeing the girl leaving, Chen Yu stood up, raised his right hand, and removed his watch’s concealment . He then manipulated the floating camera to inspect the room for any surveillance cameras or listening devices .
However, even after conducting several scans on the room, he didn’t make any discoveries .
“It seems she’s quite cautious?”
Lowering his hand, Chen Yu started walking around the room and observing every nook and cranny .
As an adolescent male, he still held relatively great interest in a girl’s room . This was especially true for the partially-opened wardrobe in the corner of the room . The pink color inside seemingly tempted him to open it…
There must be underwear inside meant to tempt a pure male student like me, right? Keke, a honey trap? Do you think I’ll fall for it?
Although Chen Yu’s brain thought as such, his head, which encased his brain, was already curiously inching toward the wardrobe…
“C-Chen Yu?”
“Huh?” Chen Yu’s head snapped around and saw Xing Biqi, her face flushed . In this situation, even Chen Yu himself couldn’t help but blush . Pretending to be calm, he said, “Your wardrobe seems broken . I-I can’t seem to close it all the way . ”
“The sliding door’s s-screw fell off . It can’t be closed . ”
“Oh, I’ll fix it for you, then . ”
“O-Okay . ”
“It’s fine if I open the door, right?”
“Y-Yes…”
After receiving permission, Chen Yu immediately opened the wardrobe door and saw the neatly arranged jackets and school uniforms . Failing to see what he wanted, he closed the door and said, “Nope, can’t fix it . ”

Xing Biqi: “…”
“Right, weren’t you preparing dinner? Why are you here?”
“T-There are quite a few preparations . Can you help me peel some potatoes?” Shyly lowering her head, she said, “I-It’s mostly so I can chat with you . ”
“Oh . ” After taking one last look at the room, Chen Yu nodded, “Sure . Let’s go . ”
The two of them left the bedroom and entered the kitchen . Xing Biqi then handed two potatoes to Chen Yu . “It’s just these two . I’ll do the vegetables . ”
“Sure . ”
Chen Yu found that one of the potatoes already had half its skin scraped off after accepting the knife and potatoes .
Yes, the skin was “scraped,” not cut .
Chen Yu, who had similarly come from a poor family, instantly understood the situation . Looking at Xing Biqi, he said, “You peeled the potato using a spoon, right?”
“That’s right . ”
“This way, you will only scrape off the skin and won’t waste any of the meat . ”
“Mhm . ”
“However, scraping old potatoes like these is very tiring . ”
“T-That’s why I prepared a knife for you,” Xing Biqi said, pursing her lips .
“…Give me the spoon,” Chen Yu said as he tossed the knife aside . He then picked up a spoon from the kitchen counter and skillfully skinned the potatoes . “I know how to skin potatoes as well . ”
Xing Biqi blankly stared at Chen Yu as he skinned the potatoes . After a while, she turned away, and the corner of her lips curled up…
After skinning the two potatoes, Chen Yu washed them with water . While doing so, he found another familiar sight .
There was a red bucket under the kitchen tap .
After he closed the tap, drops of water continued dripping out of the faucet and into the bucket .
The weak water flow wasn’t enough to trigger the water meter, so any water collected through this method was virtually free . The only downside to this method of collecting water was that it was a slow process .
Strictly speaking, this behavior could be categorized as stealing water .
However, how could the affairs of civilians be considered theft?
This was called the wisdom of life .
“You go cut the meat . I’ll handle the rest of the vegetables,” Chen Yu said as he grabbed the vegetable knife from Xing Biqi . He then skillfully stripped the vegetables .

“You know how to do this as well, Chen Yu?”
“Heh, I also come from peasant roots, though my genetics are beyond excellent . ”
Xing Biqi: “…”
After processing all the ingredients, Xing Biqi lit a fire, heated the oil, placed the meat into the wok, stirred it, and added spices . Her actions flowed fluidly, and she completed the cooking process in one go .
Taking a step back, Chen Yu carefully inspected the girl before asking, “You really know how to cook?”
“Grandma goes to church every weekend, so I cook on Saturdays and Sundays . I’m used to it now . ”
“This is your grandparents’ house?”
“Mhm . ”
“What about your parents? Are they working outstation?”
Xing Biqi’s hand momentarily froze at Chen Yu’s question, and she pursed her lips . She then answered, “They passed away . ”
“Sorry, I didn’t know that . ”
“It doesn’t matter . They deserved it . ” Xing Biqi bit down on her lip and started turning the vegetables in the wok with greater strength . “Not only were they drunk driving, but they were even driving backward . Serves them right . Serves them right!”
“…”
…
Ten minutes later, two simple stir-fried dishes were completed, with the main dish being egg fried rice .
As Xing Biqi’s house didn’t have a kitchen table, the two of them could only have their meal in the living room .
While Xing Biqi went to the bathroom to wash her hands, Chen Yu had the floating camera scan the dishes . The dishes showed up as green on his watch’s screen, and there were no red dots or alerts, proving that the food should be safe to eat .
Although this type of spectral scanning wasn’t as accurate as mass spectrometry, Chen Yu still felt assured by the results . He then took a seat at the dining table and waited for the meal to start .
After washing her hands and wiping them dry with a towel, Xing Biqi walked out of the bathroom and sat opposite Chen Yu . Her face slightly reddish, she said, “Chen Yu, thank you for coming to my home to teach me today . Although the food is simple, please don’t mind it . ”
“It’s quite good already . ” Picking up his chopsticks, Chen Yu said, “Hurry up and eat . I’ll teach you once we’re done eating . ”
Hearing this, Xing Biqi’s face turned even redder . After hesitating for a moment, she went to the kitchen and returned with two bottles of beer . “Let’s drink this . ”
“We’re students . How can we drink?”
“I-It’s okay . We’re just drinking a little . ”
“We still need to study later . ”
“I heard studying doesn’t h-hurt once you’re drunk…” Xing Biqi said, her voice as soft as a mosquito’s buzzing .
As if in deep thought, Chen Yu said, “Oh? There’s such a saying as well?”
Following this, the two quietly finished their meals while having their own thoughts in mind . After the dinner, the two “tacitly” returned to the girl’s room .
After entering the bedroom, Xing Biqi immediately shut the door and drew the curtains . She then approached Chen Yu, her face blushing as she said, “L-Let’s begin . ”
“Mhm . ” Chen Yu nodded . “Let’s begin, then . ”
“Mhm!” Xing Biqi sat on the bed and shut her eyes . “L-Let’s begin…”
Opening up his bag, Chen Yu pulled out a physics textbook and a physics test paper . He then asked, “Do you want to learn or do it first?”
With her eyes still closed, the girl softly said, “I-If you know how to do it, Chen Yu, then let’s d-do it first . ”
“Of course, I know how to do it . Why would I teach you otherwise?” Raising the test paper, Chen Yu said, “Let’s do it first, then?”
“Okay…”
“What time is it?” Pulling out his phone, Chen Yu took a look at the time . “It’s half-past eight . How long are we doing it for?”
“A-Anything is fine . ”
“Anything? Heh . ” Opening the test paper and picking up a pen, Chen Yu said, “I can do it all night long . ”
“L-Let’s do it all night, then…” At this point, Xing Biqi’s delicate face had basically turned into an apple .
“You said it . In that case, I won’t hold back . ”
“Mhm!” The girl covered her burning face .
“I’m starting!”
“Mhm~❤~”
“Okay, first question . ” After taking a seat before the study table, Chen Yu quickly wrote something on the test paper . While writing, he said, “As shown in the picture, mass M’s inclined plane rests on a rough surface . The angle of inclination is 0…”
Dumbfounded, Xing Biqi opened her eyes .
“???”

Those in this dungeon must kill monsters to survive; maybe even each other. Join Ely as he struggles to survive a ruthless environment. What replaces his rest is untold trauma. What seems like an innocent game trope turns into a nightmare. This is a story of tragedy and the path to ultimate power. All in the hopes of an uncertain survival. _________ This fiction has NOT been abandoned. I made a haughty promise earlier to not worry because I'll continue this series, and with things lately, I've only proved myself a liar. Further promises dwindled, and I've lost trust. So many things have been going on recently that I've been booked. I will refrain from making any future guarantees or promises as my busy schedule will stay with me for a long long while. Time for me to actually spend on writing and revising won't appear until at the least November 19. I won't say expect that's when I'll restart, but you can expect expecting it to maybe happen. That's really shallow. But with everything going on, I've let my small reading base down. I apologize. I still stick by my statement though that I won't abandon this project. I plan to stick it to the end, no matter the delay. Most importantly, thank you everyone; readers who both like and dislike my work. I appreciate your time spent on my dumb imagination. Stay toasty my readers in this winter season. Cheers. UPDATE: We're back on track. Thank you for your patience. Any future readers, heyo! Glad you're here. UPDATE 2: So far it's been 21 days since I last uploaded a chapter. The best thing done for any fiction, no matter how good it is, is that it continues, and I have a bad history with that. 1 fiction on hiatus and already more delays with less than 20 chapters in this fiction. I've been very preoccupied with adding more things to do in my life rather than actually committing to any particular thing. That applies primarily to this. I cannot abandon this, as busy as my future looks and will look as I get busier and busier. Someday, I hope, I will be able to sit down and just write. just. write. But for now, I ask for patience. I suppose I'm glad this fiction hasn't picked up so that I don't disappoint too many people if any really. But I need to commit and it's going to happen sometime and sometime soon. No more flowery words. I'll see you later. UPDATE 3: It's very evident I won't be able to pick up this story for a while. With AP Testing, competitions, and other things I am busier than ever. But I must complete this fiction. I have too. Until next time. UPDATE 4: It is now the summer. I owe everyone an apology. Chances are, nobody's around to see this, and that is okay. I only blame myself for this sort of brokenness of a fiction, not that it is actually that bad but I am just exaggerating it for dramatic effect. But what's not exaggerated is the severity of my broken promise. I apologize for my naive claims about finishing a novel that I couldn't finish and that I didn't have the discipline to finish. Nor the skills, really, I was and am still an immature writer. What is to place now? I want to make it clear I understand this is my fault. I will man up to this. And I will accept any criticism. I understand I messed up. Reading Stephen King's On Writing made it clear to me that I need to do two things:Read lots. And write lots.I have done neither. If I don't have the time to read often, how do I expect to write? I need to become more experienced. I need to become a serious writer. So if I want to dream of continuing, I need to at least fulfill both requirements. I enjoy writing. I haven't written seriously outside of school in a while. I planned to write this summer and finish this. I made a lot of promises that I didn't keep.So there's that. I won't enact any self-pity, or be foolishly obsessed. What I did was wrong, and I must deal with it. I let down readers. And I apologize.I hope I can find forgiveness. This is a writer's sin.I won't promise I'll finish this. I intend to finish this, at some point, because writing is fun and I want to write. But how things are don't reflect that. Maybe I'll finish this at some point. Maybe I won't. I won't be naive to make that promise.I thank everyone who has read this if this is the end. If not, and hopefully not, I thank everyone who is to read future chapters. I thank everyone who allowed me to live in the miniscule little dream of mine as I passed my days. I thank everyone who cares enough to read this. Until next time, peace everyone. Thank you. You are all great readers and great people. I wish everyone the best in whatever reading/writing endeavors follow you henceforth.
