Chapter 1666: 1666
Jiang Chen went back to the underground world and continued discussing the true source of fire with Shen Xingchen .
Shen Xingchen explained that the main reason she had come to Wind Cloud City was to watch the battle between the genius fighters .
By accident, she had felt that a weird fire energy was coming from underground . Her apothecary’s intuition had told her that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity .
Then, by making use of her connections, she had found this mine that offered an opening to the underground .
“I had come here alone previously, however, there were a bunch of fire monsters under the mountain . ”
This was the reason why Shen Xingchen had formed a team .
Jiang Chen was surprised by this, and he conveyed this story to the Fire Kylin .
“The origin of fire should have been able to find someone more suitable . I guess that besides being kept kept underground, it also had concocted some monsters .
“These fire monsters treated the origin of fire as their queen bee and didn’t allow anyone to go near it . ”
The Fire Kylin had predicted this a long time ago . Therefore, the present situation was no surprise to him .
“Don’t worry . The fire monsters won’t have much of an effect on you,” said the Fire Kylin .
He knew that Jiang Chen and Xiao Hongxue has fought once before . It was not hard to speculate on Jiang Chen’s abilities .
“Everyone, let’s follow what we planned earlier, and I will not forget to reward you well for your help . ”
Jiang Chen called everyone over and gave them instructions .
Wen Qing and Meng Shan glanced at Shen Xingchen and hesitated .
“We agree . ” Shen Xingchen nodded her head, showing that she had no objections .
Right away, they took off and started exploring the mountain’s underground world . Even for people who could fly, the surface area of this underground area was too huge .
Although the Vulcan ring and Shen Xingchen had been able to detect the whereabouts of the origin of fire before, the feeling was becoming stronger and stronger than it had been in Wind Cloud City .
However, they were having a hard time pinpointing its specific position .
“Let’s try punching a hole in the ground . ” Someone suggested after searching for a while in vain .
Jiang Chen gave this idea some thought and finally approved of this suggestion . Let’s see what was under the ground first .

However, when they began going underground, countless fire sprites rushed out toward them .
These were what Shen Xingchen and Jiang Chen had referred to as fire monsters . They resembled a bunch of monkeys on fire . They were only able to stay in the air for a short while .
They attacked Jiang Chen and the others .
Their damage levels were below Venerable Sovereign, but they made up for their power level by their advantages in numbers and the fire energy in their bodies .
This was no ordinary fire, but the true origin of fire that Jiang Chen had been looking for . However, these monsters’ power was still far below the level of the true origin of fire .
However, their power was enough to cause harm to Shen Xingchen and the others .
Fortunately, Shen Xingchen and the others had been up in the air and were able to remain there, so it was easier to deal with the monsters .
“As long as you don’t come into contact with the fire, things can be settled rather easily . ” Yang Zong told everyone after he had killed several fire monsters .
In a while, the entire bunch of fire monsters who had attacked Jiang Chen and his team had been completely eradicated .
Before anyone had had the chance to take a break, what was about to happen left everyone in complete shock .
The underground world’s light source was normally dim . Therefore, the atmosphere always resembled dusk .
Now, however, in the next two or three seconds, the underground world became extremely bright . The direction from which the light was coming was from under the mountain right below their feet .
It seemed as if a lot of lights had been lit, and they looked like they were stretching across the mountains with no end in sight .
The underground world had become extremely bright in the blink of an eye .
If one hadn’t known that this light source came from the fire monsters, Jiang Chen and the others could have enjoyed the scenery .
Hundreds and thousands of fire monsters were waiting to continue their attack . Their light faded slightly, but they continued to glare covetously, waiting to attack .
“Without the specific location, it’s not easy for us to find the source . ”
Jiang Chen and the others started to feel lost . They waited in mid-air, hoping to discover some kinds of signposts .
This wasn’t very practical . However, they knew that if they walked further into the mountains, they would be attacked by countless fire monsters . And this didn’t seem like a very wise course of action .

Also, who knew if perhaps there could be an even much stronger fire monster somewhere in the mountains .
As they were all hesitating up in the air, a loud noise could be heard from the other side of the underground world .
Accompanying the crashing sound, a beam of light shot down from somewhere outside .
Immediately after that, the sky looked as if it had been hit through by some huge entity . Countless figures started arriving from outside .
There was no need for them to spend a lot of time trying to figure out who these newcomers were . The Dragon force revealed their identities .
“It’s the Fire Dragon Race . ”
At that time, Jiang Chen remembered that Ao Yue had once told him that Shen Xingchen and her team were not the only ones who had found out about the true source of fire .
All those who were sensitive to the fire element would eventually be able to feel it at this period of time .
On top of that, Wind Cloud City was extremely busy and full of all kinds of folk . There must be many there who could feel it .
The problem for them had been the same as it had been for Jiang Chen when he had first arrived . They couldn’t figure out a way to get down to the source .
“The way the Dragon Race does things hasn’t changed a bit,” said Jiang Chen resignedly .
Once the Dragon Race had descended, they didn’t bother about the fire monsters at all . They just dropped straight into them .
Countless fire monsters rushed toward them . There were only around ten people on the Dragon Race team .
However, accompanied by the thunderous Dragon roar, an even more ferocious fire went on a rampage, devouring countless fire monsters .
Furthermore, the Dragon Race seemed to be clear about their destination . They kept moving forward .
As Jiang Chen decided to take action as well, many other people started coming in continuously from the hole that the Dragon Race had punctured into the underground region .
These people were not in groups . They separated once they had arrived . They started observed their surroundings with caution .
During the past three years, treasures kept showing up . There were even adventurers who specialized in finding these treasures . They were basically just treasure hunters .
Jiang Chen had always believed that these people existed .
Jiang Chen knew that he had no time to spare .
The true source of fire could only be contained using the Vulcan Ring .
There were only two Vulcan Rings left in the world . One was with him, and the other was with Xiao Hongxue .
All the new people who had arrived joined forces to put up a barrier, repelling all of the fire monsters .
“Come out and lead the way . ” At this moment, Jiang Chen didn’t bother to hide who he was anymore, and he let the Fire Kylin out .
Shen Xingchen and all the others looked as if they had just seen a ghost . A divine beast jumped out of the ring worn on Jiang Chen’s finger .
The Fire Kylin who had stopped pretending to be the Fire Emperor was not just a ball of flame anymore . It was more like he was physically there with his whole body burning in flames .
They could still recognize the legendary being . They were just extremely surprised to find out that there was a divine beast in the ring on Jiang Chen’s hand .
“The geographical changes haven’t been huge . I can still recognize the landscape . The problem is that I usually find my way with the stars . Now that we’re underground, I don’t know how to find my way around,” said the Fire Kylin, looking pretty embarrassed .
“Which star did you use mostly to find your way?” asked Jiang Chen .
“The Hundred Hammer Star . ”
After hearing that answer, Jiang Chen’s practicing body, who was absorbing the Void Divine Wind, raised his head . He instantly knew the answer and pointed to the southwest .
They walked single file, moving forward while trying to avoid the invasion of the fire monsters .
At the same time, more and more people were entering the underground area from the hole .
Speaking of the practicing body, he had almost absorbed all the Void Divine Wind that had been expelled by Zhang Tian .
Just as he was about finished, he caught a smell .
A smell that he hated more than anything was coming in his direction .
Jiang Chen raised his eyebrows . In his entire life, he had never killed any Blood Slaves . This had been one of his life’s biggest regrets .
Therefore, when he felt that the Blood Slave was getting closer, he sneered happily .

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)
