The Legendary Rebuilding of a World by a Realist Demon King Chapter 8
Envoy of the Stellar World, Meteor
We arrived at Demon King Sabnac’s castle.
There were a few kobolds standing guard there.
Kobolds were dog-like demi-humans.
They looked at me with annoyance and questioned:
“Who are you? Do you know that this is the castle of Demon King Sabnac?”
I answer.
“Of course, I know. I am the Demon King Ashtaroth.”
“Ashtaroth…? I have never heard of you.”
One of the kobolds answered, but the other had recognized the name.
“Ashtaroth, I have heard that name. A newborn Demon King who has recently sworn allegiance to Sabnac.”
“Oh, I see. And so it is for this one that Sabnac has gone out to fight. …So? Why is he here then?”
The kobolds argued that since Sabnac was out there fighting for me, I should be there in the field as well.
I couldn’t fault their logic, even if they were dogs. And so I answered.
“A brave warrior such as Sabnac will scatter those humans with ease, with or without my help.”
“That is true. Our army is strong.”
“And so I have brought a tribute instead.”
“Tribute? Is it meat?”
The kobolds began to pant and wag their tails.
“Perhaps there will be meat. However, that meat will come from your corpses.”
What do you mean by that! The two kobolds roared. And I began to chant.
“The time is ripe. Let the stars tremble and rain! Meteor!!”
What I chanted was a magic that caused meteorites to fall from the sky. It was a powerful magic that only skilled magicians with immense power could use.
Thick clouds blanketed the sky, and from it, came red streaks that shot to the ground.

The chunks of stone burned red hot as they entered the atmosphere, and they smashed into Sanac’s walls at a frightening speed. The wall crumbled.
The power was enough to blow the kobolds off of their feet and burn the trees that grew in the garden.
Eve could not help but open her mouth.
“So you are not only a great strategist, but a powerful magician.”
“I wouldn’t go that far. But it is enough to make a hole in their wall and kill a dog or two.”
The kobolds were shaking with fear, and it was easy for me to slip around them and slit their throats with my dagger.
Of course, I was holding back in a way.
There was no need to send their heads flying when this would do just as well.
I liked cats, but I also liked dogs. And while these were kobolds, I need not kill too excessively.
Well, killing unexpecting guards didn’t leave the best after taste.
After defeating the guards at the gate and making a hole in the wall, I gave Eve an order.
“Send the wood golems in first.”
“Aye!”
She bowed respectfully and gave the order.
“These golems do not require detailed orders. They would not be able to remember them, in any case. Just let them run wild. I expect nothing more from them.”
“So you will have the golems create chaos within the castle walls and attract attention. Meanwhile, the orcs can be sent in to raid the storage houses.”
“You understand me well. Exactly. Now, give them those orders.”
Eve bowed and sent the orcs in.
Orcs were an inherently greedy species and had a knack for finding treasure. And stealing was second nature to them.
They too did not need detailed orders.

The only thing to be careful of was to make sure they did not try to keep what they took.
But Eve was watching them with a careful eye, and so it was left to me to aid the golems.
The golems were turning the place upside-down, but their numbers were too few.
They were surrounded by enemy goblins and orcs in no time, and arms and legs were severed.
It was possible that they would be crushed before my plan had time to succeed.
As their lord, I needed to protect them.
And so I poured magic into the skeletons that we had carried with us in the carriage.
The skeletons began to rattle and move until they returned to human form. Of course, the flesh they once had did not reappear.
The skeleton soldiers picked up their swords and shields and marched into the castle to join the fray.
Skeletons were weak among monsters, but they had no fear of death.
They were already dead, after all. And so they did nothing but advance and fall on the enemy.
And that was a threat to orcs, goblins and other monsters with a degree of intelligence.
Not only that, but these skeletons were special, as I was controlling them with magic.
And so these demi-humans were no match for them.
The morale of the enemy had gone up after they had pushed the golems to the brink, but now they were feeling a sense of panic.
And it was easy to push them further with some supplementary fireballs, ice spears, and wind blades.
The enemy soon lost heart, and they started to flee the castle, one by one.
“Well done, my master.”
Eve offered, but I didn’t have time to acknowledge her compliment.
Our forces were still small, and we could still be put in a dangerous position if the castle soldiers somehow regained their composure.
Things could get even worse if Sabnac’s main force returned early.
Even I, the king, may find himself captured.
And that was something that must be avoided at all cost.
And so I quickly asked Eve:
“How many more minutes will it take until we have finished raiding the storage?”
“I would say nearly five minutes.”
“Very well. I will continue to draw attention to me. When you are done taking the materials and treasures, take command of the orcs and return at once.”
“Yes, my lord.”
“We will meet in the forest that we came through on our way here. If I do not return shortly, that will be the end of the Ashtaroth army. You might as well offer the treasures and materials to the orcs as retirement money.”
Eve narrowed her eyebrows at this. But I just smiled.
“There is a ten thousand to one chance. I don’t really believe that it will happen. Do you want proof?”
And so I chanted the words and created a fireball.
I launched this at a group of kobolds and sent them flying with a burst of flames.
Those blasted dogs.
Eve looked comforted by this display. And she was a strategist, after all. She knew that time was important, and she quickly returned to commanding the orcs.
I left the woman who bravely took command while still in her maid uniform, and unleashed more magic.
I would spare nothing in this fight.
A lot depended on this plan working.
If we failed, it would be the end of me.
There was no reason at all to reserve magic or any abilities.

Advent of the Mindfire Mage: A Challenger's Return Story
Updates MWF, 6PM EST! Not so long ago, a story was posted on Webnovel, one that fired my imagination unlike almost anything before or since. It was known as The Challenger's Return: Rebirth of the Rainbow Mage. However, 150 chapters in, the author NightWind, who I'd personally interacted with and begun to consider a true friend, vanished from the internet without a trace. And so, I have acted upon my fervent desire to pick up his torch, to refuse to let his world that stirred such passion in me die. Read below about my own take on The Challenger's Return. Was Lheticus summoned to the Tower by chance, or by choice? Either way, with the new power he wins, he won't hesitate to burn anyone who seeks to keep him from his true love to cinders, and with a unique ability of the highest potential, he may just succeed, but he's just as likely to burn himself down. And as it turns out, the latter case may be woven into his very destiny...can that destiny be changed? And if it is, what will be the repercussions for the Tower? (You may want to read a fair amount of the original Challenger's Return before starting this, as, particularly in the early chapters, many things that are laid out in it are glossed over in this story.)
