《A Fungal Dream》Chapter 11. Rebirth followed by a new world.

Hello world, my name is Phill, doing the Magic Potion Challenge, shouting out to Ninja for- No this doesn’t make me feel better in any way.
In an abandoned house not far away from where I settled down, I was standing in an empty bucket that could fit my entire body if I would sit in it, holding another bucket, filled healing potion to the brim, butt naked.
Should I write a last will before I, do it? Yeah, it would be- Oh, fuck this, let's do this!
I tilted the bucket, pouring the stuff onto myself, holding my breath back.
Once the mold covering my body felt the potion, several tentacles started to grow all over me, going haywire, grabbing, and smashing around.
This is….Slightly uncomfortable.
Once, things calmed down, something quite strange happened.
As if it responded to my thoughts, my body slowly started to shift. The tentacles shortened themselves, becoming muscle fibers, which were later covered by another layer of slightly whiter mold, acting as a skin replacement. At the end of my fingers, the tips of the bones remained, probably as a replacement for my nails.
“Well, this was unpliant. Wait-I CAN TALK! FINNALLY I CAN FINNALLY TALK!”
I laughed in joy, finally hearing my own voice. It was slightly deeper than I remembered it to be, but it was cloth enough for the one I had when I used to be a human.
“Oh, God, how I missed this. Mirror! Yes, I need a mirror. I need to inspect myself properly!”
Grabbing my bag, I took a hand mirror and looked at myself.
It was… strange.
My body was slightly green-colored as if chlorophyll was running through my veins. The skin was tightly stretched onto my newly gained muscles.
With the added mass, at least I had a normal body frame, albite my arms and legs looked quite long.
As I inspected my body, I noticed that I didn’t have a navel or genitals. It was…all smooth.
“Not important. Slight details can be fixed later. I just need some time.”
I quickly moved to my head, inspecting my features.
“This is not quite right.”
I keep t most of my features, but they were distorted by my skull as if another person was wearing my face like a mask.
I had dark green hair made from thin tentacles, and in my eye sockets, two balls of green flames were burning vividly.
“Damn, I don’t look like a human at all. So even after all that I need to keep wearing that bag as a mask. Man, I need to find a place where I can buy or get a cooler one, like a plague doctor’s mask. That would certainly fit into the team I am currently rocking here!”
Laughing at myself I dressed up.
Since I gained some muscles, the cloth that I used to wear didn’t fit me at all, luckily for myself, I prepared for this eventuality and brought several clothes in different sizes.
I tried on several clothes, settling on a pair of brown pants and a white shirt. Lucky for me, the white coat still fitted me perfectly.
As I packed my stuff away, I heard shouting coming from out outside.
“What now?! can’t a man bag up his things in peace?!”
Using the power of the pendant hanging on my neck, I passed through the floor, with my stuff and cloth still on me, then I walked out to the streets.
There, several shady-looking people were surrounding a group of cloaked figures.
One of the shady people was holding a sword dripping with a greenish fluid, with one of the cloaked figures laying at his feet, with a wound on its chest, bleeding out the same green liquid.

“Ya bitches better follow us if ya don’ want to end up like ya pal!”
A kidnapping? Here? Now? in the middle of the day? Is the public security in this city so bad, that things like this can happen? Well, walking away after seeing something like this would leave a bad taste in my mouth, I will help them out.
Still invisible I walked behind the leader and grabbed him by the shoulder, before becoming visible again.
“Hey, can you not do this here? I had a very long day and I want to relax a little.”
“What the fuck?!”
Surprised by my sudden operation, the leader tore his shoulder away from me and slashed his sword towards my head.
With my enhanced reflexes, I managed to turn on the intangibility, allowing the sword to pass rough my head without harming me.
“Seriously, attacking before even listening to the other person, you are such a rude person, aren’t you?”
“You are with these bitches aren’t ya?! Die!”
“Sigh, very well.”
Moving faster than him, I kicked him in the stomach and when he bent over, I kneeled him in the back, making him faint.
I turned towards the rest of the gang who looked at me horrified slowly backed off, before running away with fear.
“Now then as for you guys, here!”
I threw a small bottle of healing potion at the nearest hooded one. He grabbed it in the air, revealing the feminine-looking arms which lustered with a pale light
“use this on your buddy laying there.”
They just kept staring at me, as I kneeled next to the unconscious boss and started to loot his things off him.
“Some coin, a sword, and a pair of keys. Nothing exciting. Man, this was a huge pain in the ass.” When I stud back up the one wounded was standing again, supported by the one nearest of him.
“Th-Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. Now then if you excuse me, I have some things to-“
“Wait!”
The leader took off his hood, revealing his face to me.
It was an elf.
Blond hair, fine features, blue eyes, pointy ears, he had a total.
“Please let us repay you for your kindness! There is a shelter nearby where we can hide! Please, follow us.”
“…very well.”
Being cautious I walked behind them, ready to turn invisible at any moment.
We made several turns meeting several people on the way but there was no commotion.
“Here it is.”
Our group stopped at an old shack looking building made entirely of wood, looking alien from all the stone houses I saw till now.
When the elf leader pushed the door open, it led to a stairway going down into the darkness.
Silently we walked down of it, arriving before a heavy metal door on which the elf leader knocked in a strange rhythm.
Once he was done, the door opened without a sound and we entered.
“Wow.”
Calling this shelter didn’t do justice for what this place was.
Houses lining up before me, made from different materials. There was even a pawed rod and a well for water
The cave itself which contained all this thing was lit up with those glowing crystal thingies, growing from the ceiling.
This was an underground village, habituated by…demi-humans.
People with animal features, people with horns, some even made from stones or plants, you name it, it's here.
“I never knew that there was such a thing here.”
The elf leader smiled as he looked at me.

“Humans aren’t friendly with other races, even us elves as you could see it today. So, we created several underground villages, called hideouts. You can now show your face here, nobody will judge you here.”
“Ehhh, my face is…unique. It might be uncomfortable for certain people.”
“What, are you a mal medusa?”
“No, I …Sigh, forget it.”
I took off the bag from my head, revealing my newly acquired face.
The cloaked figures looked surprised at me, staring at my weird hair, and burning eyes.
“An undead? But he isn’t surrounded by miasma and he can talk.”
“That hair? A dryad? There are mal dryads?”
Feeling embarrassed by so many people looking at my face, I put the mask back on.
“Like I said, not something for the eyes of people to see. Thank you for bringing me here, I am very grateful.”
I bowed before them and before they could say something I turned myself invisible and walked away.
A village full of demi-humans. I wonder what I can found around here. As I walked into the center of the village, I noticed several shop-like buildings all around me.
Hmmm, let's go shopping a little.
I turned visible as I entered an establishment, filled with various sized cloth and other stuff.
“I never saw you before. Are you a new arriver?”
I looked at the counter where the voice came from.
Behind it was a woman who had black hair, eight eyes, and several extra arms covered in black chitin.
A spider woman? Interesting.
“Yes, I just arrived today. Do you perhaps have cloth more…fitting for my physics?”
Even though these clothes were technically good for me, they were still uncomfortable for me.
The spider woman scanned me with her eyes before standing up, revealing several spider legs.
Thank god I am not afraid of spiders!
“You have quite a unique physique, but I believe that I can wipe up something up for you.”
She searched in the piles of cloth and handed me over several articles.
“The boots and gloves are made for a spider monkey-beastman, the shirt, and pants from a long limb and the mask…Do you want to keep it, or do you want a new one?”
“Oh, I only wearing this thing, because my eyes and hair may make several people uncomfortable. Do you something for them.”
“Easy. I have something for-This.”
She gave me a pair of sunglasses and a black hat.
“Try them on in the changing bout over there.”
I did as she said and once, I got changed I felt much better, these clothes being way more comfortable than the ones I used till now. Obviously, I kept my coat since it looked good on me.
“Thank you. How much do I owe you?”
“Bah, the clothes you wear covers it! Also, while you were there, I added some changes to this one.”
She gave me my sack mask back, but it looked way different than the one I used.
It seemed washed, the holes largened slightly and she even made a smiling mouth on it, made from red threads.
“Thank you very much. I will surely come back here if I need any clothes!”
“Hehe, I hope so.”
Once I exited the shop, I turned invisible and started to walk around looking for a special place.
“Found it.”
I entered the building and turned visible.
This building was bigger than the others and smelled of disinfectants.
Once I looked around a small girl with cat ears, wearing a cute nurse uniform came at me.
“Sir, are you here to register?”
“No miss, I wish to speak to the head of this establishment.”
“Sorry, but Master is very busy so if you could-“
“I am a [Life Scholar]. I’m sure that he would love to talk to me.”
Holding a holy graded skill can give you some nice powers. Especially mine, considering where I was currently.
The nurse’s eyes got filled with fear as she quickly ran away.
Knowing full well how this type of situation would go down, I sat down on a nearby chair, and while I was waiting, I sang a little song.
The original lyrics were actually German, but I heard it so many times thanks to my roommate when I was still in university, that I learned the English version.
Plus, I just got my voice back, I want to hear it some more!
“
Here I go.
~
I set off under cover of night.
I want to get there.
I serve only science.
Soon everything will fit together.
From her, the eyes.
From her, the hair.
From her, the legs.
And I realize.
Such beauty is spread far.
But soon I put it all together.
Sparks fly,
The weld glows.
I'll build myself a prototype.
I am my own happiness.
I'll build myself a prototype.
I'll put you together piece by piece.
Only the most beautiful part of everything.
I am my own happiness.
And you are my pride and joy.
My prototype.
Face and body already perfect.
Donated by noble suffering.
But you lack the spirit of the awakened.
My art is completed.
From her, the loyalty.
From her, the courage.
From her, the soul.
Not enough.
Much virtue is spread far.
The weld glows.
I'll build myself a prototype.
I am my own happiness.
I'll build myself a prototype.
I'll put you together piece by piece.
Only the most beautiful part of everything.
I am my own happiness.
And you are my pride and joy.
My prototype.
(Eisbrecher-Prototype, English lyrics)
~
“
When I was about to start over again, the nurse came back, shaking a little.
“M-Master says that he awaits you in his office. Please follow me.”
She led me to a corridor which then brought us to the stairs.
Once on the second floor, we turned right, facing a simple wooden door, which had a white cross painted on it.
No matter what world it is, people will always need healers.
“I am coming in.”
As the girl said, this was an office. Small, dusty but still an office.
Behind the desk, a very strange man was reading a thick book.
He had brown skin and blond hair, whit his eyes hidden by two thick glasses. On his forehead, a blue horn has grown, made from a material reminding me of a crystal.
“Good day. I am the [Healer] in charge of this clinic. The people call me Dr. Blues.”
Like the music? Newer liked it.
Smiling I made an elegant bow, before talking.
Nice to meet you. You may call me Phillip, and as you heard from your assistant, I have the honor of being a [Life Scholar], who came with a proposition for you.”
“Really? Let me hear it.”
He closed the book and fixed his eyes on me.
I kept on smiling and fixed my glasses, to hide my eyes.
“You see I wish to work with you. As a doctor.”

A World Forgotten
***This story will contain lite-litrpg elements, mainly character pages and a town page. There will also be settlement building and adventuring, missteps and achievements. But one thing it definitely won’t have is a harem. Nor will it have an overpowered MC. Contains mild cursing.*** ***feel free to critique my writing and offer input. This is my first venture into writing. I've always enjoyed litrpg/gamelit books. I feel like I write how I talk, so it may be a little different. You won't hurt my feelings if you see something wrong or out of place! *** ***What follows is a condensed part of chapter 1. Enjoy!*** Drew Cooper is thrust into a new, unfamiliar world. Waking up in his sweats and t-shirt near what seems to be a forgotten path through some woods, he struggles coming to terms that he's no longer in his apartment. As he tries to cope with his new reality, he hears a horse coming down the path. He hides behind a nearby tree dreading what may happen next. As the horse approaches, he sees a man walking next to it. The horse is burdened with packs and gear. When the man nears, Drew nearly panics. He has a large sword strapped to his waist, obviously a fighter. He continues to hide as the man slowly passes only for the man to stop a dozen meters past his hiding spot. "You may as well come out, ya know. You weren't as well hidden as you thought," the man stated matter-of-factly, letting the horse’s reins go and putting his hand on the hilt of his sword. Slowly and scared for his life, Drew raised up and walked from behind the tree. "I-I'm sorry. I wasn't planning on attacking you. I-I don't know where I am. I heard your horse and hid. I didn't know what you'd do if you saw me. I'm sorry," he nervously blurted out. A minute passed. Then two. The man seemed interested with Drew and stepped closer, eyes squinting as if trying to see something. "What's that on your shirt? Is that. What is that? Is that, Pac-man?" The man was visibly shaken while pointing at me. Looking down at his t-shirt nervously, "Yea. Yea. I woke up here a few hours ago I think. 3 maybe 4 hours. I’ve just been sitting here. Where am I? What's going on?" Drew asked. "That's not important right now," the man replied. " What's important is where you're from. What year is it?" "What year? April something 2020. Why? What's going on?" Drew continued now worried. The man was taken aback. After a few moments, he seemed to calm himself some. The man sighed and looked at Drew in earnest. "Well, I've got good news and bad news for ya. Bad news is you're not on Earth anymore. Good news is you happened to run into me and not someone else. You’re either really lucky, or it’s fate we met in these woods, and I don’t believe in luck." The man continued to walk towards Drew while talking and put out his hand. "I'm John Mitchell from St. Louis or thereabouts. You’ve got nothing to be scared of by me. Walk with me and let’s talk."
