Sela trompes over to sample the sweetrolls and cast his vote for Chip. Sure it was close to nepotism but if Chips rolls were the best? Eh.

Sela walked over to Chuck to see how the champion was doing but he was surrounded by a herd of well wishers. Turning instead he tried a roll from Chuck’s batch and he was bowled over by the smooth taste. This was not the taste of the pastries he’d sampled up on top of the meda. This was a rich smooth flavor that made him think of all the good times.

Sela stood there, tasting it while Sam chatted up Chip.

“I love how close you all are,”

River’s lilting voice felt like butter.

Sela nodded, his face a knot of concentration.

“I’m kind of jealous- I wish we had what they have.”

“The druids don’t let you marry? Or is it that we are three and…” He sighed, looking at the third and fourth place.

“It’s not that?” He said, “It’s something else entirely. Have you ever been in love?”

“Only the unrequited type.”

River sighed.

“Tell me more about what being a ranger entails.”
