《Isekai Winner: Super Sweepstakes!》Chapter 20: Tchadd's Return

The demons went their separate ways and brought the corpse with them, leaving only Sally, the horses, the human-like demon, and myself behind.
“Okay, so, I know earlier I made it sound like I’d be doing the dirty work by myself, but actually there’s a village just down the river that we can use as a sort of, uh, ‘reservoir’ for what I need.”
The demon adjusted his tie. “And what exactly do you intend to accomplish in reference to this 'reservoir?’”
“It depends. I need to call my boss to know exactly what the procedure will be, but for now it’d be helpful if you could go down and gather as many women as you can.”
“‘As many women as I can’? To what end?”
“Uh, I’ll tell you when we’re done.” It’s not like answering questions was a requirement in the contract.
“Very well, I suppose. Nevertheless, I do hope your intention is without malice.” GOD I hate this guy.
“Oh, I’m... uh, saving the world, and also reconciling the eternal feud between demons and humans... so I’d say it’s a pretty noble cause.”
“Your methodology is quite counter-intuitive.”
The demon made his way to the edge of a nearby cliff, preparing to take flight.
“Wait!” I shouted, “There’s one thing I wanted to ask before you left. Uh, this is just pure curiosity, but how do demons reproduce?”
“There is an annual ceremony of ‘mating’ - if you believe this term appropriate - in the depths of the Marude Volcano. The population, however, remains fixed; instead, the life cycle of two demons, selected through divination, are started anew. The original beings see their souls merged, then split, creating new life forms from the remnants of the old.”

“Oh thank god, I really was worried about the direction this was going. Does it have to be during that specific ceremony, or could you just, you know, do it anywhere with anyone?”
“It is impossible to achieve the necessary temperature for incubation at any other location.”
“Damn, that’s annoying. For, uh, reasons that are completely unrelated to your mission.”
The demon, though clearly confused, flew off in the direction of the village. All that was left was to summon Tchadd, somehow. Thinking back to our first encounter, he had mentioned that he would see me after I had gotten situated in the new world, and then showed up after I came to the hotel. It didn’t make sense that he’d be able to do this without constantly watching my every move to know when I had gotten there, so it should follow that he’d probably been watching me this entire time in case he needed to step in. If I was lucky, and I am, this might be easier than I assumed.
“Yo Tchadd, we need to talk.” I said quietly.
Suddenly, the sky went dark. A solar eclipse. From the sky descended Tchadd, who began to glow with an intensity matching the sun.
“What’s up?” His deep voice echoed throughout the mountains as though he were not addressing myself, but the world.
“I’ve got a few questions about this world saving business.” I tried to make eye contact, but his light was too powerful to comfortably gaze upon. “Okay, first off: At what point is a creature considered human? Like, what percent human does their heritage have to be?”
“96.875% is the objective criteria for being human.”
“Wow, really? I didn’t think that worked in, like, percentages.”
“God’s will.”

“...Okay then. Next question: If someone were 3.125% demon, would they still be immortal, or at least immortal enough to last until the water situation fixes itself? Just letting you know, it’d be really, really unlucky if the answer was no.”
“Oh, yeah, that counts. I’m not sure if that was this retrocausality thing you keep talking about with your companion over there, but if it is, then that’s pretty impressive for an employee of mine.”
“Sweet. Well, that’s all of the questions that I have for now, so thanks for the help.”
“You’re welcome.” The eclipse ended, and as sunlight returned, Tchadd disappeared.

Steamforged Sorcery [A Steampunk LitRPG]
This is a fantasy story in a steampunk setting, not a sci-fi. The Great War ravaged the face of the earth many years ago. In the years that passed, the world rebuilt, mixing machinery and magic to form something new. Great blimps took to the sky, belching steam and smoke as metal cities sprouted like weeds below. Angel, a talented mage, scours the desert endlessly in search of lost knowledge. When it unexpectedly falls into his hands, he quickly comes to realize that the world is far larger – and far more deadly – than he ever could have predicted. But no amount of danger is going to keep Angel from seeking out greater strength and traveling the world, claiming all the greatest treasure that it has to offer. To most, the desert is a dangerous threat to be feared. To Angel, it’s a land of opportunity, waiting to be exploited. Steamforged Sorcery is, as the title suggests, a LitRPG Steampunk story with heavy focus on magic and scenery. The main character starts out relatively strong (but far from overpowered) but will eventually grow in strength to incredible levels. It is moderately paced and does not progress at ridiculous speeds. Release Schedule: 1,500 words daily Monday-Friday

Paths of the Chosen (Rewritten, Revised, and Reinvigorated)
Daniel Stewart was chosen to alpha test a brand new Immersive VR game, "The Realms". What he doesn't know is that he has also been Chosen by one of the Powers of a far-off world, and is now a pawn in a game much bigger than any he thought he would ever participate in. Will he survive and thrive in this strange new world, or will he stumble and fall, shattered by the ambitions of another? Does he have what it takes to walk the Paths of the Chosen?---Inspired by the Chaos Seeds novels, TheDespaxas's The Gamer, and a wide variety of games and books, although the world, characters, and systems are my own. Expect high fantasy, magic, combat and intrigue, love and loss, grief and passion. This story is intended for adult audiences and contains explicit sexual content, profanity, and violence (including sexual violence, although not by the protagonist and not as a focus of the story). Chapters with such content will be clearly marked, and all explicit sexual content will be behind spoiler tags. I prefer my stories to have happy endings, and especially in these uncertain times, I feel that it is important to maintain hope. While this tale will reach some dark places, I promise to you that, when all is said and done, the villains will be justly punished and the heroes will prevail and prosper. Remember: it is darkest before dawn, but dawn always comes. Please note also that although this story does not have the [Harem] tag, it does have an extremely slow build into a polyamorous relationship. Additionally, starting with Champion (book two of the series), the [Multiple Lead Characters], [Female Lead], and [Non-Human Lead] tags would also apply to varying degrees. This is a complete, ground-up rewrite of the original Paths of the Chosen, following feedback from here and elsewhere. It is now written in the third-person limited omniscient perspective and in the past tense. In addition, while the major plot beats are unchanged, most of what comes between them has been reconsidered and rewritten, with pacing and characterization as a special focus.---Update schedule: 2 chapters per week (Monday and Thursday), not counting bonus chapters. Chapter length is roughly 2,500 words on average, +/- 1,000 words. Chapters with explicit content tend to be longer so that they are still worth reading for those who would prefer a fade to black. --- Cover art by Agri Karuniawan (@artofagri). What?! The world outside the village is full of villains.
Saulo Delanova is a young Amish. He doesn't use electricity, travels by horse and carriage, and eats what he sows in a community with a traditional lifestyle, rural and voluntarily separated from modern society. A community that for foreign eyes is frozen in time. When he decides to experience the modernity that he heard so much about the cities outside of his region, a theft forces him to stop on his way to the capital city. The situation would be manageable if it weren't for a detail. In his community they live under the principles of nonviolence! In a world where each being is born with an identifying color, can summon a weapon and fight with the power of the elements -or what is known as trinity or three characteristics of a user-, villains abound because of this power that each person can easily use. Ignorant of the life in the country's most important city, Saul will have to face culture shock to adapt to this outside world unknown to him, and to the people and events that will make him fall into the bowels of the world of temptations.
