The Tension was rising in the West district as the group of survivors who just survived hell, now weren't sure if they shouldn't just have died, as they knew that people would again start to die soon. Families, who had someone they knew who enlisted in the army just yesterday to be sheltered by the army were regretting their choices.

But as some were having remorse, and starting to pack up their things ready to leave this place as long as things went south, trying to only have small bags that doesn't hinder them.

Chris with the others were tailing behind the soldiers in the desolated streets of the west district filled with destroyed cars, slowly leaving the west district, everyone was looking at each other thinking why they didn't stay at the hotel, only maybe Claire and Lisa weren't totally against it, the former wanting to test further her power, she could feel that her ability had gotten stronger but how much she wasn't sure.

Lisa on the other hand just wanted to vent out, she felt like she might explode as she felt this urge to fight that was being sent through her link with her snake, it was like having someone constantly screaming in your ear but for her in was directly coming from her mind through a strange link that she was still figuring out all the features.

Only the footstep of the soldiers' boots could be heard and their ragged breath could be heard with some chatters but everyone was quiet, keeping an eye on the sky and the surrounding buildings.

" Captain is it a good idea to let them follow us, what if they hinder us when we fight I won't save them just because they are civilians," a soldier said to the man leading at the front who was next to him, not trying to restrain his voices, the soldiers behind them easily heard him.

The man looked to be in his mid-twenty with a slight tall body wearing leather armor under his trellis, a sword hanging on his belt in its leather sword scabbard with an automatic rifle in his hands, a shaved head to the base looking quite average despite the slight menacing aura coming from him that Chris who was looking at the surroundings soldiers noticed has the an looked at them despite the more than fifty or more soldier separating them who were forming four-row in the street.

making the street that was enough big to take two cars smaller than it is, the abandoned car not helping either.

making some of the soldiers look behind with anger, they already didn't want to go fight, and now some civilians were following them, they had experienced too many bloody scenes that it already took them all their courage to not abandon their brother and come fight with them, some of them didn't know if their family are still alive.

while some were lucky enough to have their family follow the rescue teams who were sent to the various districts in the town one day after all this happened had their family waiting for them in the west district.

" don't worry about them Henry, I won't send any of my men to save them if they have chosen to come, it's mean they are either stupid or competent enough to at least stay alive our mission is to go and try to save some of our brothers in danger right now stop wasting your time and try to figure out how to lessen our losses once we are in the action I will let most of them under your order "

The captain a tall man with a long sword on his belt that almost touched the ground as he walked with a shield In his left hand with dried blood and deep claw marks on it responded, the man was too tired to care about his second trying to emphasize those civilians, and he thought that at least their morale would be less gloomy.

The captain turned his head taking a glance at this group, but as he looked at the frontman who didn't have a shield, with only a short-sword in his hand he was surprised thinking the leader of this group is dumb thinking a short-sword against those huge beasts is a good choice he could help but remember how he survived with sheer luck for his first close combat with those giant animals his eyes filled with fear that he quickly hides not wanting to show any sign of weakness to his men.

But as their eyes met his heart skipped a beat but he quickly calmed down, a small smile on his lips but without him knowing he had gripped his sword near his belt instinctively his muscles tensed as he kept walking.

" yeah they shouldn't be that stupid "

Henry the vice-captain or whatever grade he had just nodded no more caring about them, and instead unsheathed his long sword they were about to reach the crossroads and from there it wouldn't be that calm anymore, he would only use his rifle if those beasts are really close and if he could even use it, it was better to start his sword.

The other Soldiers did the same things, the air around them changing in just a second, and either Chris or the others weren't ready for the sudden change as they felt pressured near those soldiers all of sudden for a split second before it disappear just as fast it came.

But compared to the pressure Chris emmit, it wasn't fear they felt but rather helplessness with other feelings that they couldn't describe washing them for a second.

Stopping in their track they looked at each other, then they looked all at Chris, with the same question in their mind.

I could only shake my head helplessly, do they think because I can use [bloodline pressure], I know what it is, I'm working here with a fucking bloodline in my blood vessels from the novels and other bullshit and they think I know everything.

My thought wondered how all of this was crazy but still, It seemed as if I adapted to it too fast like if it was something that was mine since my birth.

Suddenly gunshots were heard coming from the buildings from the east district mixed with differents sounds but they were too strange that no one understood what it was, looking at the buildings a little in the distance from where the gunshot came from it was like they looked at a movie scene.

with how much the city was changing.

" HURRY UP let's goooooo!!! it's already started "

they heard the voice of a man coming from the front and their pace quickly increased, they quickly caught up the pace, their heart beating faster as they could hear the gunshot getting closer and stronger.

they already left the crossroad entering a street leading to the east district inner part, destroyed cars, and crumbled buildings could be seen all around them with some rising smoke from some cars around the streets who exploded from who knows what.

It was like two different worlds as they get closer to the gunshot, howls and human cry mixing with gunfire could be heard more clearly, making them feel like they were entering the gate of hell, as they felt goosebumps running down their spine, tightening the grip on their weapons.

And less than one minute after rushing from the crossroad as they ran, they came in sight with what could be called a carnage, group of twenty to thirty evolved beasts were jumping from one side to another as they tried to cross cars a barrage of at least two or three cars in front of them, horizontally and vertically in three-row next to each other and some beasts with bulky figures tried to push those cars but once they did they got fired and in less than a seconds before they could completely push the cars to open a path as they fell on the cars.

pieces of glasses shattering all around the place, some unlucky ones got their eyes on arms pierced.

AHHHHHH!!

screaming as they cursed their bad luck for not crushing in time, their fate unknown among several other men as they were trying to crawl behind their comrades, who only looked at them, about to trust their sword at this strange sensation afraid it was some beasts they missed only to see the man crying an arms or eyes pierced barely gripping their swords knowing it was their only friends here.

Some survivors groups were resisting as best they could against the incessant attacks they were survivors who tried to take advantage of this group of soldiers adventuring in this east district to leave as they regretted having missed their chance the first time only to get stuck by a group of beasts attacking them in their escape after they reached this barrage made a few streets away from leaving the district.

the evolved beats who crossed to attack at the same time saying one of their rivals died as gunshot rained on them trying to get closer.

while some soldiers who had shields, were in front protecting those who were shooting as best they could their ears almost numb from all the gunshots around them, trying to slow down the charge of those beasts before shifting for the close-range weapons they got from the white room swords, spears, etc....

But it was more like a chase game, as those beasts kept jumping in the group of soldiers jumping over the barrage protecting their weak spot as best they could.

bitting one person's shield, arm, or whatever they bit on, before throwing him on the other side like a doll, clawing at a human just next to them stumbling the shield wall those soldiers and survivors tried to maintain with their lives as they continued their massacre most of those soldiers and survivor were barely at level five to be at least able to grasp the movement of those beasts and thank's to their huge size which makes it easier to follow them.

but their fighting capacity was completely lacking, they seemed to have some basic to defend themself but it movement made for a fight between humans, and for this batch of soldiers who normally came here just to gather information, they were already lucky to have held on so long, the survivors on the other hands seemed to fight better with some understanding of those beasts pattern attacks.

with evolved beasts who were at the same time fighting against each other at any chance, they got, to weaken their rivals dismembering the unfortunate man in just a split second before baring teeth at each other keeping their distance.

unwillingness, hatred, and pain all at the same time washed over everyone as they could only watch and hear the last struggle of their friends being eaten alive, their eyes reddening to the point of madness.

One wouldn't believe that just a week ago, those people were soldiers and normal people who never knew war, or what was real terror and now all those emotions mixed were a dangerous mixture.

And they could do nothing about that since they saw ten-person trying to abandon their post to flee while others were protecting and didn't dare to move from fear to get thrown away if they took even just a step back from their defensive stance with their shield raised high.

only to have some insects the size of human kids, cockroaches, centipedes, or whatever insects it was, no one had the time to differentiate them, coming out at lighting speed and then grabbing the legs of those that tried to flee who weren't prepared for the sudden attack, dragging them in the dark alley as they tried their best to hold on to something.

those who were about to curse at those cowards, smiled in disdain blood on their face, as they saw those cowards die but came back to reality when they got knocked down for not staying focused as a two-meter dog and rat of human size bitted their shoulders, and ankle the former sending them flying in the sky falling on the other side of the barricade while the latter dragged them before eating them as it tried to not get hit on the head from bullets which rained on him.

screaming in anger at those humans it dragged its meal further behind the barricade jumping from car to car.

the same sound could be heard everywhere in front of them and from their left and right.

" Chris in what kind of shit did you put us in, let's go back now they won't be able to hold on for long "

George quickly close to Cris his voice filled with fear as he tried to not freak out compared to when they fought beasts where they most of the time had the situation under control what is happening here is more than what his wild mind could take.

turning my head hearing George blabbering in my ears, I wanted to curse but seeing Lisa looking at me I refrained it before pushing him back.

' Why people like to be so close, it's irritating'

My mind was filled with different emotions at the same time, my bloodline seeing the scene which is happening in front of me wanting me to join in, making my body hatch so much that I had to circle my energy around my body calming my impulse, but feeling violent energy next to me and seeing that the same red energy that out of evolved were also coming out of Lisa.

I wasn't sure what to do anymore she told me she had a hard time controlling herself just like me but it seemed she didn't explain how strong it was.

But I snapped once again hearing a man shouting orders coming from the front, as I realized we were standing just a few meters from a beast's hordes and we didn't have Sarah or Emily to back us up nether Sky or Lisa's as they stayed to protect the others.

" Henry go warn them the support is here tell the survivors group to retreat first and to build another barricade with car ten to twenty meters near the crossroad "

The Captain stopped in his track, his mind not sure what to do and he could only let those survivors with not proper training leave first, his last order about building another barricade being more than just a wishes knowing that once those men would leave half if not all of them wouldn't stop unless they reach the west district.

His heart was bleeding as he thought of how many would die once this order is given.

Henry next to his captain looked at him, seeing him looking at their people fighting, he could only swear inwardly, knowing it was a cruel and hard decision to make.

he knew that once he gave this order few of those still fighting wouldn't be able to retreat in time or even reach them before the beast does.

He quickly ran to the fighting group stopping one meter from them before shouting as loud he could, he didn't dare to go closer as he could see red-eye shining from the alley a few feet from the soldiers and survivors who were fighting.

" SURVIVORS GROUP RETREAT FIRST, I SAID.......!"

" Fu*** what took them so long if I know it would be like that I would have never accepted to join this exploration team "

A Survivor hearing the voice behind them breathed heavily looking to his left and right, two other survivors who were raising their shield with him, nodded at him.

disarray quickly filled this group of more than fifty soldiers and survivors as even though some soldiers knew the procedure to retreat, no one wanted to stay behind, and tried to retreat at the same time but the evolved beasts didn't care for that as they became more aggressive as they noticed the gunshot being less stronger.

The sound of cars being stepped by evolved beasts resounded like a bomb explosion.

" OK let's go we can't do anything about that, those soldiers are already lucky to still be alive"

I said my hear ringing from the loud noise of the cry of help and beasts roar, all the scenes happening in front of me completely unbelievable.

I could hear the others behind me let out heaved briefs, taking a look at them, they all had pale faces eyes wide open.

not waiting longer to move they all started to turn back running as fast they could, I didn't know why but after almost throwing what I ate this afternoon, and taking a glance at what was happening in front of me, my mind was becoming more posed.

making me shudder to realize that I was looking at people being eaten alive, but I still didn't feel any sympathy apart from the disgust to see people being eaten alive, it was more as if I enjoyed seeing this scene like a lost memory coming from the depth of my beings reminding me what was the fate reserved to the weak.

A pointless DEATH!

I knew I was cold ..., but not to the point of not feeling any emotions after seeing this kind of scene and the reaction of the other once again confirmed my guesses and the voice in my head that seemed to come to my bloodline sounding as if what it was seeing was to threaten me what would be my fate If I'm weak.

I felt someone's hand grabbing my arm pulling me back, making me almost fall I regained my senses looking at the person.

We quickly distanced ourselves a few meters from the fight who was starting once again with more intensity as sounds of gunfire came back after its briefs stop.

But it was the last of our problem as it seemed that some of the birds roaming in the sky started targeting us, I heard whistling noises coming from above us.

I shouted as loud I could to Eillen and Philip the two of them were in front of the group as birds of two meters wide fell on them like those documentaries of an eagle as they attacked their prey.

but before they could react the birds were already above them.

Philip's voices resounded just after I warned them.

A bird with black feathers grabbed Eillen like if she was a toy and was starting to fly away.

The others who were able to get down in time dodged the other birds' gust of winds with some rock being thrown at us, making us realize how much power those birds had in their wings, but because we always had Emily and Sarah covering us most birds after seeing two of their own being killed before getting close enough dispersed but now, none of us could fight against them.

The bird who was about to fly away with Eillen suddenly froze in the sky before falling from two-meter high

Claire was annoyed to hear his voices yelling at him her head hurting her badly it was the first time she used her innate ability after reaching the Third Stage she didn't faint this time but her head hurt so much that she wished to have fainted, and Phillip background voice didn't help at all.

I quickly shouted a plan thinking of their success to not meet any beasts in their way, as I looked at those who wouldn't be able to help to come back quickly, Claire seemed too exhausted and would rather be a burden for them better if she stays with us and rests.

Lisa didn't bother to listen as she would have stayed anyway, only listening but not hearing her name among those who would leave she had complex feelings both happy and afraid as she wanted to have her risk her life for people she just knew for a few days.

but she quickly put her grudge aside it was too late to regret it anyway.

He thanked me as I could see his eyes shine as he understood that if someone could save Eillen it was Sarah, but for this one team would have to go while the other would stay and fight the group of beasts coming toward us and most of them would be me and Lisa, maybe Claire but I didn't have hope that she would be ok without at least half an hour of rest.

I made them come so I stayed, to help it was my plan and I could risk my life, I didn't have one before so dying like that wouldn't be too bad.
