We were heading toward the path where the horde ravaged during their charge leaving behind only destroyed buildings and concrete covering the streets making the place look like a bombardment area with corpses of beasts and bone everywhere.

Since it seemed that for now, other beasts didn't go in this area and instead focused on the surrounding open space or buildings enough big to keep them safe from predators bigger than them making the zone with hotels and some food stores still intact empty from stronger beasts and only the low level one were roaming around and it was those ones we first targeted.

First to make the three new groups of Lester, Clement, and George adapt when facing numerous enemies and control their fear that makes them unable to fight at an equal ground even against low-level beasts or a beast at their level making them stay behind their shield and only block the attack, not daring counter-attack unless they found a good chance but in a fight, this could cost them their life.

And Chris and the Other know that well enough since they learned it during the battle with the group of militaries and citizens a few days ago.

Goerge and Kyle were fighting four huge pigs of two-meter high with the help of Lester, Adrien, and the three that got knocked out by the claymores two-man and one woman, with clement, Louise and Stella dealing with one pig the others fighting the three other, Goerge and Clement were able to handle their opponent quite easily, the more surprising was the two girls Louise and Stella that we're able to properly fight slowly overcoming their fear of beasts even if the beasts were taller than them and looked like a damn giant.

Their body keeps shaking but they kept the pig away once it was about to hit Clement and in a matter of seconds, the pig was on the ground bleeding screaming for help from his comrade but only to be disappointed as they were facing the same situation.

At first, the pigs when they meet this group of human they didn't want to engage them because of the huge dog and Snake that seemed to work with the humans with a dangerous aura they could feel coming from several of them, but after noticing that only a small part of them came and the most threatening ones didn't come, their simple mind even after becoming a little smarter couldn't figure out why , they charged instead of wasting time in thinking but they underestimated this group of human and were paying the price.

Goerge and kyle turning around the huge pig trying to disturb his attention slashing at his stomach left and right side before withdrawing as fast they could since their attack barely made him really bleed letting only small gashes but still not enough fast.

The pig charged at them stomping the ground raising dust and turning quickly his body using his head hitting them both as he turned his head left to right sending them both to the ground, their back and chest hurting like hell making it hard for them to breathe as they tried to getup, from the impact of the pig head and hitting the ground like if they got hit by a car at full speed their head was still dizzy.

And Amanda the girl in their group took this chance with the pig blocking his own view, she had a one and half meter metal spear on her right hand tightly grabbing with her two hands, going closer to the eyes of the pigs from his dead angle and dashed digging half of the spear and then turned it inside his eyes making the pig scream painfully shaking his head and at the same time making Amanda lose the grasp of her spear falling on her butt.

But she refocused herself dodged to the side the huge stamp of the pig leg making cracks spread on the ground with small dust.

George and Kyle came back at the same time passed Amanda and slashed horizontally the right and left knee this time using all their power as a huge part of flesh were sliced, making the pig lose balance as he felt a surge of pain in his wrists and fell headfirst on the ground and die instantly from the spear of Amanda still in his eye that entered completely in his head reaching his brain killing him on the spot.

while Hector was facing alone the level seven pigs taking it a little away from the group and started to fight it head-on using his shield to protect himself at the last moment dodging to the side and then sliced the wrist of the pig making it fall unable to stop his charge and hit the building in face of them, the small buildings crumbled from the impact, broken glasses falling on the pig with the debris of the walls on his body dust filling all the street almost reaching clement and the others that were fighting a few meters from him, hector waited to see if the pig will get up but seeing that its struggle to, he came at him and pierced the pig eyes killing it on the spot from the sheer strength the piercing contained reaching his brain.

He was surprised when he read the prompts he knows the pig should at least be at level six since he was really fast even with his huge body but strangely his fighting style was easy to see through as long someone is enough and flexible it isn't a beast hard to kill.

" They did well don't they "

Sarah said she could see the difference in technique even if the were not so far in level the fact that they got a skill that makes them use their weapon the more efficient way and George, Lester, and Clement fighting style showed that indeed level didn't mean anything if you don't know how to use properly your strength and the fact that they didn't notice that the pig was big but was unable to turn easily they would have been able to end those pigs in a matter of second if well handled.

- " Yeah but so far I can't stop thinking how we survived the horde with them, is it what we call the newbie luck "

Alex said smiling but no one thought it was funny they almost lost their lives and seeing how this group of people could barely handle low-level beasts make them shiver and think what if they didn't keep running and stayed to fight in the same place then they might not have survived.

But they stopped to think about it quickly and ran toward them, they were all sweating but still, they had a smile on their face proud to have killed those beasts on their own this time.

Hector, on the other hand, was barely sweating he had a little smile on his lips, he was happy that he improved both basic techniques, basic shield and short sword mastery it wasn't something to brag about but at least it was enough to let him go on a one on one fight and still have different assets in his sleeve compared a few days ago from a normal high school student to a beasts killer it was a big change.

Once they took out the energy cores we started to search another group of beasts to hunt, slowly making our way in the devasted city, with no other sound than beasts' growls and howls.

" Are you sure it's a good idea to go there Chris we want to upgrade faster but if we are dead it will be useless "

Sarah said so far they were doing good and they could have hunted the low-level beasts around the area of their new shelter, and the more they go toward the city entrance the more she felt afraid even for her, she knows that the beasts would get stronger with some birds that kept attacking them from time to time, falling at high speed from time to time depending on the bird some were small but other were as big as a car.

But Emily and Lisa's snake were able to take them down in time but it was making the whole group stressed from the change of feeling after just crossing a few streets and they could feel the tension like a battlefield with howls nonstop compared to the inner west district it was a huge change.

I heard Sarah's voice coming from the back of the group, her face full of worry with her staff ready to unleash an ice cone.

" Yeah I'm sure and besides it's been an hour and we let them hunt alone and by now they can fight together, so as long we stay close and don't do something stupid we will be fine "

I said but even myself could feel the strong energy of some beasts at the same level as us in the street and they weren't in small number but my body was already irritating me to fight my heart beating faster with every step I took and the more my bloodline warn me the more I felt my body getting more energy spreading in every part of my body ready to be used.

' How did they grow so strong in just one night it doesn't make sense' , I couldn't stop but ask myself but with no answer, I kept advancing sensing the surrounding destroyed buildings, controlling my blood, and calming it to a reasonable speed.

Edward, Hector John, and the other were eager to fight, but they also wanted to play it safe this time.

" yeah We can do it like that but for now let's go just around and not go deeper in the city "

Alex said she too wasn't feeling it right there were so many beasts but none of them attacked them.

" Ok but we do it quickly, once we turn to the left there is a group of twenty beasts all level six at least not sure so we kill them then we take as much energy core we can before going back "

I said it was too late to turn around and just kill the beasts at the outskirts, so today at least we take one group of beasts and then think about what to do, and I was sure that if I don't control my fighting spirit I would lose my mind and do something stupid like the first day the system Arrived.

Lisa who was next to Chris saying him acting weird grabbed his hand, making him stop and when he looked at her she saw his eyes shining with a red light like the beasts when they went frenzy but strangely she didn't felt the same killing intent but still it makes her uneasy.

she was surprised that he responded to her as if nothing was weird with him, making her almost slap him on the back of his head, she was worried about him and it's all he can say.

'it's really starting to be too strange now what even humans are mutating' , her mind doing her best to understand what was happening also trying to keep her calm, and not be too loud since there were beasts around them.

" your eyes!!," she said taking his head in her hand to make sure she wasn't hallucinating.,.. but yeah indeed his eyes were shining blue with his pupils with faint orange color in them.

Everyone stopped seeing the behavior of the two of them, and when they noticed what was happening with Chris when they checked them they were surprised but now wasn't the time to ask questions.

Chris the concerned person still was clueless about the change with his eyes and kept walking in front of the group thinking that it was just Lisa that was worried because he refused to get back.

in less than one minute they checked the surroundings making sure that they could kill this group of twenty to thirty rats eating the corpse of two huge bears of two to three-meter high on the debris of a collapsed building.

I took my sword out waiting for everyone to take their positions, the end of the road was pretty far so they were only aisles and we blocked one from the left and right by Clement Lester and George while I blocked the front of the road with Lisa and Edward and the others will be in charge of the backline that it was sure we have the advantage in last resort we could always enter one the intact building and fight them inside if we got attacked by some beasts on our back.

Once I saw Edward going to them crossing the street, I also started to move with Lisa her snake, and Sky at our side, and it didn't take long before we got noticed by them, one rat that took a piece of meat of the bears and tried to escape his kin that tried to steal him stopped moving when he encountered Edward and the other.

Calming him down, I patted him covering him with my aura that subdues his agitation slowly making him calm down, it seemed that they didn't notice us even after sky howls and were too focused on Edward and the others' threat.

Edward on the other hand being the only one with a shield makes him feel tremendous pressure, so do the others, having no more people with a shield to protect them this time will be more dangerous than ever but they restrained their fear and advanced with him.

And before he could process how to charge them, the group of rats charged at them, and without waiting for a signal Sarah and Emily launched their skills, Ice cone, and Arrows energy but they barely wounded them seriously making them only stop moving with one leg pierced or their back was broken by the sheer strength of the ice cone stopping their charge.

Sarah and Emily also noticed that but didn't stop shooting, at least they couldn't move and would be trampled by their companion behind, and they would finish them later.

the rats reached the group in one or two breath but it was enough for Edward to use his only skill energy shield that covered almost two-meter long enough to cover everyone making their prepare.

Alex, Fred, and John were the first to charge knowing the shield wouldn't last long and indeed after ten rats hit it repeatedly it broke shattering small balls of energy that evaporated in the air.

Alex with her huge hammer slammed vertically at two rats close to each other sending them into the group of rats, then retreated escaping the attack of one rat his sharp claw only ripping her clothes, missing her skin from a few centimeters as she could feel a small wound but nothing to worried about.

Fred just behind her slashed at it, his sword falling downward at him cutting his head off, followed just after by John that slice the legs of two rats that jumped at them blood spraying on them, all that happening in just one second but for them, it seemed like a minute had passed for them the adrenaline kicking in as they followed suit, with ragged breath they kept doing the same tactics attacking their retreating as someone else take their place.

And Edward quickly advanced pushing aside the rats but stopped after only two-step, those rats were stronger than the last one they fought with that they could just hit like a punching bag and push them back, but after only five rats blocked his path trying to claws and bit him pulling his shield.

but with claire Philip and Eillen covering next to them, it was easier to block them as they slashed at them giving him time to breathe before going back once again, while Sarah and Emily keep providing support when needed.

" It's our time now go!! "

With a huge smile on his lips, Chris said his voice feeling with excitement unknown to himself, not wanting to wait longer fearing that something unwanted could happen to them it has been barely thirty seconds, and they were already being surrounded by the rats' unrestful attack raining on them but they were able to hold their ground knowing that there was still three groups from each side to help lose the pressure on them.

with swift steps, he reached them and slashed at the first rat that came into his vision letting a huge gash on the poor rat back, followed by a faint sound of fissured bone, the rat immediately fell to the ground his limbs shaking before he called to the ground life dying in mere seconds.

But Chris continued advancing not waiting to see if the rat was alive and went deeper into the group of rats dodging a few centimeters, tilting his head and waist as the rats bited at him the sound of their two gums hitting each other reasoning in his hear

Turning and taking a stable posture he kicked the one closer to him with his knee, making it let out a painful howl before it came back at him more enraged than ever, only to have his head cut off at a lightning speed by Chris that slashed at his neck from downward letting a few sparkles from the tip of the blade touching the ground, and opening the stomach of another rat that jumped at him as he tilted his sword toward his belly, his organs and blood falling on him covering him blocking his vision for a second but the other rats took this chance and clawed at his back letting huge gashes bleeding profusely, mixing with the rat blood already on him.

But his skin was tougher and with the fine line of energy around him, but still, the rats' claws were also embedded with energy and dealt real damage but it didn't stop him as he quickly turned and slashed at the rat that wounded cutting his leg before as he kicked it away taking in mind the position of the rats with energy perception as his mind was thinking quickly and his battle instinct slowly took the upper hand.

Showing the true prowess of a bloodline solely focused on battle and war that Chris was starting to understand in the middle of his own battle with a smile on his lips, frowning from time to time when a rat was able to wound either his shoulders, arms, legs or back, his legs were moving so fast as he made shorts spaced step with the small space the rats left when they leaped at him, the rats focused solely on his upper body which was easier to wounds.

But sky quickly disposed of them dashing at them biting their neck and throwing them on the ground with the sound of broken bones and spines that could be heard as he sharp teeth pierced their skin, and clawed those close to him his sharp claws digging deeply in their skin as his paws got drenched in blood but the rats didn't stop their attack keeping bitting at him from his back and sides.

Lisa on the other hand stayed behind knowing he will be fine and instead slashed the back of those rats that still didn't get what was happening to them, while her snake turned around her and swiped them with his tail and bite at them but he quickly got stopped by them his body getting bite all over.

Lester, Clement, and George each group came at this moment completely encircling them as they supported the two groups blocking the dead angle from where some rats could escape, and with Chris as a bait that kept attracting their attention at the center and the others that surrounded them, their small brain could only process one thing **run** as even with their new gain in intelligence, the fear of dying was stronger, in a mere second their eyes became bloody red as they clawed Lisa Snake that blocked their easy escape as he was the only one blocking their path.

The snake let out a painful sound as he felt their claws piercing his scales tiring it from it's his flesh like a fish being scaled, and even if they couldn't harm him seriously with just one blow, due to his hard scale and huge body they kept clawing at him from all sides as some of them were able to have a firm grip, hanging on him as they dug their claws deeper in his flesh trying to kill him quickly.

But he quickly backed toward Lisa that was fighting fewer rats, entering among the rats in a semi-circle using his head that looked like a mini armored tank bitting at any rats that stood in his path tearing them into two pieces as his jaw closed on them and just like that he pushed back two to three rats toward Lisa as he protected her from the rats that came to her, his head moving at lightning speed as he kept either hitting them head-on or directly bitting at them lifting them up in the sky before throwing them down to the ground.

but in thirty to forty seconds the time that Lisa took down the three rats, he sends a word at Lisa that he couldn't block them longer and with a huge swing of his tail he sent two to three rats in the air not sure if they hit some of the groups that were fighting just one or two meters from them, Lisa seeing the opportunity seemed to realize what he wanted to do and came into the small open space he just made for her to fight.

as she too started her slaughter she didn't have energy perception or the battle instinct of Chris but her wild spirit worked too as she wounded any beasts that let huge gashes on her body not caring for defense making even the frenzy rats think twice their attack, as some of them turned and instead tried to go to left and right where there was the group of Lester Geoge and Clement, seeing how she was slashing and cutting either legs or heads her sword falling like a meteorite on their companion.

Using all her body muscle to maximize her blows, faint sounds of broken backs and legs being sliced could be heard everywhere in the street but the most deafening one came from Chris and Lisa direction as the rats they killed let out a last deafening howl that everyone even in their fight heard clearly, not wanting to know what those two crazy were going trough either for the wounds they were having or the poor rat that was near their blades they focused on their own fight.

Her snake turning around her although he couldn't kill the rats by just pushing them with his head and hitting them with his tail it was enough to let her have a stable fight, he swept most of the closer rat away with his tail and gave her enough time and space to finish one or two rats before they restarted the same process, backing at the same time toward Lester group that came in help.
