《New Path》Chapter 35 - Dignity and Mistake
Advertisement
After looking through the window of the apartment and seeing only a few beasts still roaming around in the street I took a rest for ten or so minute, trying to control the energy of my body and trying to control my new strength gained from the level up and the upgrade of my bloodline.
And after some time I was able to adapt to my increased sense and my energy perception now comes back after my body was filled with energy once again the sound around me was amplified to the point that I could hear any sound as long it was close to me and spot some of the smaller insects that didn't evolve into beasts of two to three-meter high.
But it was only if the thing that makes noise was close to me making it pretty good when sleeping to alert me, and with energy perception, I could hear further away.
I went downstairs once I felt that I was good to go outside to continue level up or search for the others I still had two or three hours before night, and I wanted new clothes I saw some clothing stores not far in the street when I was escaping and maybe I would find food too.
after feeling with my energy perception the area, I came out of the buildings, walked toward the clothing stores, took normal clothes that weren't too light but enough to keep me warm the weather getting colder I wasn't picky in my style so it wasn't hard to choose, and went to search for food, it wasn't that hard to find even in the clothing store there were some snacks on the ground still not open that I eat I my way in the others stores near here to calm my hunger.
but I still didn't let down my guard even if I already checked with my energy perception I couldn't use it all the time to check the surroundings, so I was more cautious even more that I was alone with no one protecting my back.
I didn't want to stay here too long I could feel level four beasts with stronger energy that should be level five beasts and there was at least ten of them if not more but I wasn't sure I looked at the street still empty but some growls that were reasoning from afar and close of the neighborhood made my bloodline give me small pulse trough my energy warning me from the danger that was roaming around, it was like a radar for the danger that used my energy perception to remind to be cautious.
I started to advance in the street trying to come back at the center city entrance and from there try to find the others and if I can gain a level before the night or at least be close to it, it would be great, now that I am at level six and with my body upgrade it should be enough to at least kill some group of five to six level four beast but more than that and I would have to run.
At the same time that I advanced I checked to see if some of the beasts I killed still had their energy core but most of them were taken with only some level three cores left, it should be useful for me even if not for upgrade my bloodline but the other could exchange it for Traxs and use it once they reach level ten.
I found a few of them about ten or so level three energy core with not a single level four cores left their bodies in the street being eaten by insects, I kept the level three cores in the bag I took in the clothing store before continuing to advance.

I was now more proficient when fighting with the short sword mastery movement and by now I could counter-attack without having to step back something I learned during my escape it was dangerous to attack when defending but as long that I was able to judge well the distance and move right it was like if my body was moving on its own moving at my command.
It was even better with my increased sense making my vision sharper when concentrated and the fact that most of the beasts fought the same way so far it was easier to kill them.
So once I felt that I was closer to the city center entrance, calming my breath looking at my surrounding, I used energy perception scanning the alleys where there could be beasts hiding or in the near buildings just at the corner of the alley I wanted to take, once I felt that there were some beasts but all being level three with some level four beasts, I started to go for them advancing close of the walls od the buildings it would be hard to fight in a building for me but it would be the same for them too they were barely able to move properly inside.
' It isn't even a week and it felt like if the human had been wiped out from the city beasts now living in the buildings and the parking like if it was a normal day for them'
I couldn't stop but think like that not even a week and almost half of the people of this city are either dead or hiding somewhere where those beasts can't find them I wasn't even sure if the camp of the militaries in the suburbs survived the beasts' horde, they normally should have survived.
stopping losing my time in useless thought, I moved forward sensing the surroundings, approaching a group of ten insects near the building I was going to, two meters high all at level four that were eating a big bear in an alley the bear almost filling all the alley while the insects' tearing his flesh with their mandibles four of them were fly and the rest were cockroaches.
Not wasting time I charged forward, one of the flies first to notice me tried to leave the alley but I didn't let it this opportunity, jumping at it and stabbed at the same time at his big eyes making it fall to the ground a liquid coming from his eyes splashing on me but it didn't die squirming on the ground making me fall to the ground.
I finished it while I fell among the group of cockroaches that let out a scream before charging at me, after seeing one of their own dies so easily, taking my sword out, I stabbed between the cockroach eyes that were just next to me his legs that looked like a thin bat with torn on it a mere inch of my body, I tried to stand up my feet soaked in the bear blood.
' one down five left '
sliding on the side using the wall I passed the bear body and the cockroaches followed me just after, turning to face them I took a battle stance all the remaining cockroaches charging at me filling the small alley, I didn't run and blocked their attack one by one the clash of their legs letting out a metallic sound, from time to time they were able to let gashes on my shoulders or arms but apart from it I was fine, taking a step back once I felt that I didn't have enough space or dodged to the side before finishing them off one by one and in less than thirty second, there were bodies parts all over the alley that reached the street, the walls stained with their blood a putrid smell attacking my nose making me almost throw up.

I came out of the alley advancing to the buildings just in front of the alley and entered slowly taking time to catch my breath the entrance door filled with broken showcases on the floor, looking at my wounds that were already healing while scanning the ground floor, and sensed that there had still six levels four beasts here and advanced this time not trying to hide I could tell that they weren't a threat to me anymore but just energy points.
" My regeneration ability is getting stronger"
Taking note of the fact that I didn't need as much energy compared to before to heal while making a quick assumption of the number of beasts I could fight with my energy since I fought those cockroaches without using it and even when they hit me with their sharp legs I only had small scratches with serious gashes to my belly and arm that were the most exposed where most of their attack concentrated otherwise it was almost like if I didn't fight just one minute before coming in this building.
It was a strange feeling to kill those beasts that just yesterday I had a hard time handling alone, but I didn't take it in mind I am at level six my bloodline being a medium stage two it was rather normal and with short sword mastery, it was easier to see through their attack pattern.
The dogs in the hall of the building were resting on each other when they suddenly felt a strong pressure giving them a chill their body barely able to respond to them coming from the entrance and saw a human entering their new house.
Groarrr, Groarrr!!
WOUAH WOUAH !
They wanted to kill this intruder but they know that they were weaker than him, and instead tried to threaten him.
Chris on the other hand seemed not to care for them still in his thought but kept an eye on them just in case his hand on his sword ready to slaughter anything that jumps at him, he didn't know why but his mentality in the process to recognize that he was stronger and that he wasn't anymore just an easy prey seemed to have affected his bloodline that let out a strong pressure using his energy that spread all over the ground floor for just a second before retracting spreading all over his body and didn't disappear but stayed on him like a new layer of skin different of the energy protection that as already on his skin it was starting to mix with his blood.
' Now what? I could tell that the strange energy that my bloodline let out affected the dogs in front of me but it is fixed to my blood and skin'
I wanted to curse my bloodline it seemed the more he understands about it, it slapped him reacting with just the change of his mind and showing new capacities of his bloodline
Congratulations You learned that someone with a warlord bloodline isn't just a prey but also a predator on its own and acquired bloodline pressure(Be aware depending on how it is used it can affect your bloodline)
but his thought was interrupted when four of the six dogs attacked him at the same time from different sides not stepping back he advanced to the one at his right and this time his steps were more fluid after the fight with the cockroaches that make him able to know how to use his strength properly and in just two-step, he was in front of the dog.
the dog just saw the human let small cracks on the floor but he didn't stop his advance seeing his shadow coming at him and a sword falling toward him he tried to dodge to his left but wasn't enough fast, the sword landing on his head opening it in half, he wasn't even able to do something before dying.
the other three dogs seeing that, let out huge howls breaking the showcases at the entrance door and those in the hall too, their eyes became all red with blood flowing at the corner of their eyes, and just like that they used the strange energy in their body that they gained after eating the strange rock that attracted them from other beasts they killed making them stronger.
Chris noticing their change became more serious and came out of his strange state, that he felt from the pressure his bloodline emitted that scared the dogs, realizing that those dogs were like, the pack leader he fought with and almost died, he still had the image in his mind of when the eyes of the pack leader becoming red, and after that, he was stronger and faster, his claws were so hard that he feared that his sword might break from their clash.
the two dogs behind noticing that their companion went on berserk and might die wanted to go help but their fear of the pressure that was around this human make them hesitate.
while they were thinking to flee or help, Chris was doing his best to not have his sword break, until now his sword was ok since he always tried to not clash his sword against the hard part of the beasts he fought with but now it was different he had to clash with their claws otherwise it will be his body that will have to take the blow and he didn't want to try how much his skin and energy protection could take before having his flesh torn apart by their claws.
turning left to right he dodged trying to fight back but those dogs were different from those that just jumped at him their maw open to bite him, they were able to fight in this small hall cooperating together trying to tire him, and it seemed to work Chris was starting to sweat he was able to block their attack and from time to time hit their body with his legs making their stop their attacks, but it was all he was cornered he started to use his energy spreading it all over his body but he only used it when he needed to block their attack or dodge faster making the dogs only claw at his body without serious injury while he was able to injure them too but not enough to give them a deadly wound.
' fuck level six and I can't even take those dogs down, what to do'
aahhhh!!!!!
I was starting to feel dizzy to turn my head left or rights as fast I could fast trying to track their move even if they weren't fast to the point I couldn't follow them they retreated after attacking me, not daring to go too close to me, I cursed screaming at them and charged at the dog to my right making the dogs freeze for a second, the two other dogs noticing him targeting only one of them one tried to stop him by clawing at him at the same time but instead, they attacked each other in the process, Chris barely escaping their combined attack didn't stop despite feeling his back attacked by them, sliced the head of the dog he targeted that wasn't expecting this sudden change of the human, his vision becoming dark while he saw his two friends attacking the human in his back but attacking each other just after.
turning just after killing the dog with his back in a sorry state with claws marks and gashes like if his back got sliced by a butcher he looked at the two dogs that clawed at each other.
Whouaf Whouaf!!
one of the dogs bitting the one closer to him after he lost the human and for being attacked instead of the human but they forget in this split second that the human was still alive and that another one of them was killed or that they were too busy to see who attacked them when they attacked the human with eyes filled with anger......
Chris took this chance not trying to understand why they attacked each other slashing the legs of one of them while they were still fighting each other and in a quick step came close to the one that was going to free from their fight and cut his throat while passing him before turning facing the last one still alive, his back facing the two dogs behind that were watching the fight.
The pressure that the human becoming stronger after he killed one after another of their companion was so strong that all they could do was not faint because of the fear instilled by their instinct though they were at the same level, their companions were stronger after using their new energy in their body had the same pressure coming from their body but not as strong than the human, they were the only two that still couldn't use it among their group not sure why.
The last one came out of his rage state noticing that his companion was killed. Chris, on the other hand, was starting to lose colors his back was bleeding like a fountain and he might faint at any time he used a lot of energy to kill the two dogs moving too fast for them to react but at the same time it accelerated his blood circulation and his wounds were bleeding like a fountain he was able to not faint because not all his energy was used and he directed it toward his worst wounds stopping the bleeding but not healing the wounds. " At the end dogs are still dogs fighting each other in a crucial moment" I said between my breath bitting my lips from the sensation I felt of ants roaming on my body bitting my wounds, looking at the dog that was fine with marks of sword and claws on his body his fur black fur now red, he looked at his two companions that were behind the human and howled at them making them came out of their fear state but they still didn't attack the human they might not be too smart but they know when not to fight. One of them didn't try to fight back and instead passed Chris that also forgot those two dogs, while the dog came close to the wounded dog I was looking at trying to figure out what to do and helped him to walk going closer at the entrance of the buildings still facing me before going out leaving the one that didn't follow when they got called. seeing that Chris wanted to chase after them but stopped he know that he could finish the dogs but their fight attracted the beasts that were around he could hear growls and footsteps coming toward his place and he wasn't in the state to go for another fight with a group of ten or more beasts that might be able to fight like those dogs to not but it was better to stay safe than sorry. I sighed, I was reckless thinking that all the beasts were all the same and I paid it the hard way, I looked at the dog that didn't escape he tried to go further into the building when he finally noticed that his companion didn't come to take him, but there had only two hallway to his right and left, he looked left to right before looking at Chris and let down his head in front of him letting out a small growl at him, his ears hanging down.

A World With or Without Aliens
Nothing matters. It's not my opinion, it's a scientific fact. This is neither good nor bad, it just... is. I watched my entire country burn, fried on a patriotic pan after some jerk fired a bunch of nukes at the docile fleet of alien ships hovering over us. Who gave this moron such power? I don't know. Everyone involved is most likely dead by now. As for me, I can't die. I feel pain like a normal person would (I think), but no matter how terrible the conditions, I will never die or pass out. Fortunately, a lot of alien technology survived its crash to Earth, so I get to spend some time playing with it until Mr. Author gets bored and decides to screw up my life. Beware, this has a "harem" tag. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm the main character and am therefore subject to this novel's timeline. While this bars me from the sweet ignorance of Chapter 1's me, it does have other perks... for example, I can tell you that heroine number one is personally responsible for kil-!? H-hey, back off! I'm your character, so if you didn't want me to be like this, then you should've written me differently! Randomguy here! In all seriousness, this novel is meant to explore the concept of nihilism as a post-apocalyptic/supernatural-scifi/satire told from a nihilistic introvert's first-person perspective. As you heard from my unsettled main character, each heroine is going to be a different type of horrifying socio/psychopath with dark motives and dangerous abilities (most of which are psychological). Why would I do something like this? Because I am, in reality, a nihilist who is often frustrated by weird things, like unrealistically dramatic stories, the industrialization of art (specifically music), and people who think swimming in brown creekwater for five hours is a "fun" activity. Don't get me wrong, neither me nor my character are depressed, we're just malcontents who make a lot of nerd references. I feel like the true essence of an "everything is worthless" perspective is lost on most pop-culture figures. The closest character I can think of at the moment is Rick from Rick and Morty, who is a drunk, angry nihilist that experienced tremendous loss. I, personally, find this belligerent state of mind to be very relatable, and have incorperated it into every chapter's introduction. Here, the main character talks directly to the reader (and me), shamelessly complaining about some semi-relevant facet of society, which probably doesn't make much sense... it's not really supposed to, though. These "angry nihilist" moments are just a peak into the main character's everyday existence, and also act as miniature rage-journals for me. It will sometimes take a subjectively 'positive' turn, but not very often. This is because reality isn't good or bad, "it just... is". I will eventually bring it full-circle to optimistic nihilism, since that seems to be a more practical way to live (and by "practical", I mean "doesn't create mental health issues"). It is, of course, a satire. I did this because most unnecessarily emotional moments or people usually make me feel kind of awkward, so I decided to mock them. That is, I plan to mock the characteristics about them I don't like in characters based solely off said characteristics. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy my story!

Hy'Ruh-Ha is a what I consider a chronicle fantasy. It is a fantasy drama coming of age story inspired by slice-of-life stories I've read and watched. It is heavy on the slice-of-life and does move slow. It is low-stakes fantasy. This particular story is romance free.(2 out the of 4 is re-uploaded under this title) And if you are someone who cares, the POV character is asexual. Crossroad(formally labeled as the intermission stories)- is a novella collection continuing the tale where Hy'ruh-Ha. The collection as followed: Wolf- After spending several months in the swamp post, Oeric'Sheldmartin returns to repair the chasm between him and his son, Soletus. However, a ghost from his past comes to haunt him and could ruin the life he's made completely. Note: Wolf is a bit of a character piece. POV character is Oeric. The Priest and the Priestess- A novella written in the POV of Mien and then Kiao after a series of unexpected events that change their lives. Mien's POV- Mien has spent the last couple of years working not only in the infirmary but training to become a combat chanter as part of his penitence.
